Ironic: George Soros accuses Facebook & Google of manipulation and deceit

Billionaire investor George Soros says social media companies, particularly Facebook and Google, are becoming "obstacles to innovation" as they have become too powerful and should be broken up.

While often playing an "innovative and liberating role," the companies are deceiving users "by manipulating their attention" and "deliberately engineering addiction" to their services, Soros wrote on opinion website Project Syndicate.

According to him, the two firms profit from making users stay on their websites for long periods of time. Due to the size of the companies, content providers have to "accept whatever terms they are offered," but that is only helping Facebook and Google become more profitable.

Are the Clintons behind the whole Trump-Russia collusion story?

Hillary Clinton
© Unknown
'I've been watching the Clintons work for 30 years. That's all the evidence I need,' my dad told me months ago about the Russia story. The evidence is increasingly proving him right.

"It's all a hoax." That's what my 62-year-old father, a Cruz-Rubio supporter, has been telling me since the very first time the media uttered, "Trump may have colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election."

I wasn't so sure he was right. After news broke indicating Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, and then-Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort had met with Kremlin-linked lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya in June 2016 to get "dirt" on the Clinton camp, the situation for Trump looked worse than ever.

"It's a hoax," my father reassured me. "Maybe Trump Jr. did meet with the Russian lawyer, but there was no collusion. This is a plan put into place by the Clintons. You'll see."

"How can you possibly know that?" I responded. "You have absolutely no reason to believe it's a hoax."

"I've been watching the Clintons work for 30 years. That's all the evidence I need," he answered.

Comment: Why MSM is not talking about investigating Clinton and her cronies instead of beating the Russian collusion dead horse.?

Check out Nikki Haley's tweet pretending she doesn't love violence and dead children

In a sane world, being a neoconservative would carry the same social stigma as being a child molester or a serial killer. It would be something that you are aggressively shunned and rejected for and kept far away from society so that you can't do any harm, not something that wins you acclaim and MSNBC panels spots and appointment as UN ambassador.

I am not being hyperbolic here. Neoconservatism is not some political ideology which can be placed on a left-to-right spectrum based on one's ideas about fiscal policy and social issues, it is the civilian-slaughtering American supremacist agenda to butcher, bomb, sanction, starve, bully and manipulate the world population in order to ensure the hegemony of the US-centralized power establishment. I am not condemning an opposing set of political opinions here, I am condemning the mass murder of innocent men, women and children.

Neoconservatism is what fuels support for the war machine which has scattered hundreds of military bases all over the planet, which armed terrorist factions in Syria killing half a million people, which created a failed state in Libya, killed a million Iraqis, facilitated the mass slaughter in Yemen, and escalated the new cold war with Russia which threatens to kill everything on earth, all just in the last few years.

So forgive me if I indulge in a bitter scoff when Nikki fucking Haley tweets about how heartbroken she is about the recent mass shooting in Florida.

Comment: More on Nikki Haley - probably the biggest embarrassment of the Trump administration:

NBC News: Steve Bannon met with Mueller multiple times over the past week

Steve Bannon
© Aaron P. Bernstein / Getty ImagesBannon arrives at a closed-door meeting with the House Intelligence Committee on Thursday.
Steve Bannon, who served as President Donald Trump's chief strategist, was interviewed by special counsel Robert Mueller over multiple days this week, NBC News has learned from two sources familiar with the proceedings.

Bannon spent a total of some 20 hours in conversations with the team led by Mueller, who is investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia as well as other issues that have arisen around the probe.

Bannon left his job as a senior White House adviser in August and returned to a leadership role at Breitbart, the right-wing news site based out of Washington. But he fell out of favor with the site's financial backers, the Mercer family, after criticizing the president and his family in "Fire and Fury," a book about the Trump administration published earlier this year by author Michael Wolff.

Comment: The anti-Trump media are probably salivating right now, but we suspect that Bannon is not going to provide any shocking revelations - simply because there was no 'Russian collusion'!

Assange slams Intercept hit-piece claiming his group 'sexist, backed Trump'

WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange has rejected claims by The Intercept that he backed Donald Trump's presidential campaign. He accused the outlet of furthering one of the authors' personal obsession.

"The editorial propriety of letting Micah F Lee, of all people, instrumentalize the Intercept to further his obsessive, obscenity laden campaign against WikiLeaks must be questioned," Assange said on Thursday.

Assange added that Lee was "formally behind cutting off WikiLeaks' US tax deductible donations," referring to the Freedom of the Press Foundation cutting off WikiLeaks' access to funding.

Comment: The accusations levied at Wikileaks/Assange in the Intercept's hit-piece range from 'blatant transmisogyny,' 'sexism and misogyny,' all the way to 'hints of anti-Semitism'. In other words, it's 'Women's Studies' levels of desperate, with a dash of the ADL for good measure.

Here are a few more reasons to read the Intercept with caution:

Afghanistan: UN report reveals shocking civilian death toll and terrorists gaining territory

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has released a damning report on civilian casualties in the ongoing war, pointing to air strikes and improvised explosives as the cause of most deaths and injuries.

The 2017 annual report, titled "Protection of Civilians in Armed Conflict," gives a chilling assessment on the number of civilians killed by the ongoing conflict between the NATO-backed Afghan security forces and anti-government factions, such as Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) and the Taliban, emphasizing they were the primary causes of non-combatant deaths.

"Civilian casualties caused during ground engagements against Anti-Government Elements accounted for the majority - 53 per cent - of all civilian casualties attributed to Pro-Government Forces," the report states.

Comment: Without the US and its allies, ISIS/the Taliban wouldn't exist:

'Productive and open talk': Tillerson, Erdogan meet amid heightened strain over Operation Olive Branch

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have had a meeting as relations between the two North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) partners have frayed in the wake of Ankara's ongoing cross-border offensive in Syria's northwestern region of Afrin against the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG).

A Turkish presidential source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the top US diplomat and the Turkish leader sought ways to improve strained ties during their Thursday meeting in Ankara, which lasted for more than three hours behind closed doors.

The source noted that Erdogan conveyed his priorities and expectations on Syria, and also discussed Iraq, regional developments and the fight against terror with the US secretary of state.

Moreover, a US State Department spokesman travelling with Tillerson said the top US diplomat and Turkey had a "productive and open" talk.

Desperate Fuzzy Alliance: Damascus to deploy forces in Afrin - Reports

Afrin, Syria
© Bertramz
The Kurdish militias and the Syrian government have reached an agreement on the deployment of the Syrian Armed Forces in Syria's district of Afrin, Lebanese media reported on Thursday.

The decision was made in order to protect the district and counter the attacks of Turkey or its allies in Afrin, Mayadeen broadcaster reported, citing a source with a knowledge of the situation.

A source familiar with the situation told Sputnik on Thursday that the Syrian Armed Forces would enter the territory near the border with Turkey in the district of Afrin in the next few days.

"The agreement has been reached on the deployment of the Syrian Armed Forces at the Syrian-Turkish border in Afrin in the north of Aleppo in the next few days. The agreement was reached between the Syrian government and the Kurds," the source said.

Comment: United States attempted to create a 30,000 Kurdish border security force that evoked Turkish anger and invasion. United State's failure to support Kurds against Turks forced them to take Assad's help. At the same time, Assad is fighting with US-backed Kurds in Dier ez-Zor region and he is also fighting with Turkish backed HTS in Idlib. Putin is standing for a reelection in March. More Russian casualties will have negative impact on his election campaign. More Turkish casualties in this war will have negative impact on Erdogan at home. American Syria policy is in disarray due to deep-state, Trump infighting. With no major party interested in serious casualties at this point in time (except Assad), we have a interesting fuzzy alliances.

Economist: Fed triggered the big stock sell-off - and the almighty dollar's next, 'this kind of thing eventually gives you hyperinflation'

The Fed
In his latest report, economist John Williams asks the question, "Did the Fed trigger the stock sell-off?" Williams answer, "It sure looks that way. With all the heave selling, the bond yields were rising and investors didn't like that. Risings bond yields means someone is selling bonds. The Fed was not selling bonds, they were not rolling over the bonds they normally wood. . . . There was a big drop in the amount of bonds the Fed was holding in the last week by about $10 billion. That was the biggest weekly decline since August of 2012. . . It was enough to put some upside pressure on the interest rates . . . and that was a trigger (for the stock market sell-off). Normally, you don't crash from an all-time high, not that it crashed, but you did have pretty heavy selling. You didn't see much movement in the dollar. You didn't see much movement in gold, and when this market really goes, I think you are going to see the dollar selling off very rapidly and gold being a flight to safe haven."
