Self-serving May loses 'market and influence' if Trump strikes a deal with 'boogeyman' Russia

The UK establishment is alarmed by a "peace deal" that Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump may reach at their upcoming meeting. London has used Moscow as a "boogeyman" to preserve its fading influence in Europe, experts told RT.

After the time and date of the meeting - that is, Helsinki, Finland on June 16 - was set this week, the Times laid out a piece conveying the fears of unnamed cabinet ministers that a "peace deal" will undermine NATO and compromise European security.

Comment: Take a sec and let that statement sink in.

Ideas of "what can go wrong" ranged from the cancelation or downsizing of NATO drills in Eastern Europe to acknowledging Crimea as Russian territory and lifting sanctions against Moscow. One minister even predicted "further provocation by Moscow."

Comment: Entanglement: Even if the US forges ahead on its own agenda, taking care of business, patching up the leaks and flaws in international relations, the subsequent spillover of goodwill and benefits will still, unfortunately, positively affect the UK. Sigh.

The plot thickens as analyst Charles Ortel explains why Comey had to meddle in Assange-DOJ talks

Ex-FBI Director James Comey and some former Obama administration officials would have had much to lose if Julian Assange had shared his vision on what happened during the 2016 US presidential race, Wall Street analyst Charles Ortel opined speaking to Sputnik, explaining why the ex-FBI chief was so "incurious" about the DNC server hacking.

The story of a might-have-been deal between the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and WikiLeaks' founder Julian Assange told by John Solomon left one question unanswered: Why did former FBI Director James Comey step in and upset the agreement?

Sputnik got in touch with Wall Street analyst and investigative journalist Charles Ortel, asking him to share his opinion on the matter.
"Comey was/is intimately familiar with the Steele dossier, and likely knows much concerning which foreign intelligence services may have proven useful in developing allegations against Americans and others connected to the Trump presidential campaign and to the incoming Trump administration,"
the investigative journalist noted, referring to the dodgy "Trump dossier" prepared by former British intelligence officer with the secret intelligence service MI6, Christopher David Steele.

Sanctions against Iran could push oil price to $90/barrel

Disruption to crude oil supplies from Iran as a result of US sanctions may push oil prices to $90 a barrel, according to analysts at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Washington's tough stance against the Islamic Republic, along with reported declines in US stockpiles, has already driven American crude prices to the highest level since 2014. US crude oil benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) jumped to $73.37 per barrel on Friday, while Brent crude futures were trading at $78.83.
"We are in a very attractive oil price environment and our house view is that oil will hit $90 by the end of the second quarter of next year," Hootan Yazhari, head of frontier markets equity research at the financial institution told CNBC.

"We are moving into an environment where supply disruptions are visible all over the world, and of course President Trump has been pretty active in trying to isolate Iran and getting US allies not to purchase oil from Iran," he added.
Earlier this week, Washington demanded its allies cut all oil imports from Iran starting November with no exemptions expected to be granted. A senior State Department official pledged to enforce pressure on the countries to stop funding the Islamic Republic. The hardline position is a part of a broader agenda set by the US administration to cut Tehran off the global economy and the world political arena.

Comment: Trump is pulling the rug out from under stuck financial patterns. It is hard to know what to expect, but at least change makes leaders think and respond. 'Isolating Iran' has created multi-country support instead. Dynamics, with the proper prods, are predictable.

EU establishment caves to Italy & other anti-migrant govts in bid to salvage bloc's survival

Despite dire predictions of a European Union meltdown, the leaders' summit this week appeared to succeed in delivering a compromise agreement on dealing with the troublesome migration issue.

Beneath the "everyone's a winner" smiles, however, the upshot was undoubtedly a victory for Italy and other governments that have been pushing the EU to take a harder line on the question of refugees.

French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel hailed a "European solution." European Council President Donald Tusk, who chaired the two-day summit in Brussels, also welcomed the apparent accord reached.

If Honduras is a hell-hole, you can thank the USA

As tens of thousands gather at our southern border, roiling US politics, the question arises: why are so many of the asylum-seekers and migrants crossing the border illegally from three Central American countries in particular: El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala?

To begin with, it's no coincidence that these are the three "most invaded" countries south of the Rio Grande - that is, invaded by the United States and its proxies.

The Reagan years saw the apex of US intervention in the region, with fear of Communist "infiltration" motivating massive US aid to local despots and right-wing death squads throughout Central and South America: the fear of Cuban and Soviet influence drove US policy. In El Salvador, a raging civil war between rightist landowners and a leftist insurgency cost tens of thousands of lives and billions in lost income. In Guatemala, with a long history of US support to a callous and violent elite, a 36-year civil war between conservative landowners and Communist-led guerrillas devastated the country. Honduras is the scene of a recent US-backed coup, and also of a short story by O. Henry wherein the phrase "banana republic" was coined. A more appropriate phrase describing this Central American country could hardly be imagined, what with bananas looming large as the national product and source of wealth, and lots of political intrigue - periodic coups, assassinations, incredible corruption, all of it presided over by the warlords of Washington and their corporate favorites.

So what are these "refugees" fleeing? Is it so bad that parents are justified in paying smugglers to guide their underage children - traveling alone! - across the US-Mexican border?

Washington, D.C. - The epicenter of psychopathic crazy

psychopathy poster

A study shows that the greatest concentration of psychopaths is in Washington, DC. This is a contest in which it isn't even close, as Politico informs us. But then again, you knew that, right?

Ryan Murphy, an economist at Southern Methodist University,
"matched up the 'constellation of disinhibition, boldness and meanness' that marks psychopathy with a previously existing map of the states' predominant personality traits, he found that dense, coastal areas scored highest by far - with Washington dominant among them. 'The District of Columbia is measured to be far more psychopathic than any individual state in the country,' Murphy writes in the paper."
That explains an awful lot, now doesn't it?

Comment: SOTT has been pleased to carry many of the esteemed Mr. Raimondo's columns over the years. They are gems of common-sense analysis on a wide range of topics. We wish him the very best and look forward to new articles.

Although some members of the Western-supported White Helmets may be in the business of saving lives, the group is also a "propaganda organization," author Sy Hersh has told RT's 'Going Underground.'

"Too many times we've seen the same child in photographs, year after year, always covered in dust," Hersh said, adding that the White Helmets "do engage in anti-Assad [activities]." He added that such a tactic is "very easy" because Assad is "hated" by so many.

Hersh went on to explain that, when a chemical attack took place in Syria under the Obama administration in 2013, it was well known then that Damascus had sophisticated chemical weapons. Because of this, it was clear that the substance used in the attack "was not the same as in the Syrian military."

Syrian government forces have found communications equipment made in the US and France, which were left behind by Daesh* fighters in al-Sukhneh Badia in the province of Homs, Syria's SANA news agency reported.

The Syrian Arab Army has been conducting operations in Badia, clearing it of remnants of the Daesh terrorist group and preparing the region for civilians to return.

The Royal Air Force strike on Syrian troops is the first of its kind since April, when the US, UK and France launched missile strikes against multiple targets in the Arab republic after an alleged chemical attack in Douma.

A Ministry of Defense spokesman confirmed that the RAF attack had taken place, and said that a group of anti-Damascus Maghawir al-Thowra opposition militia and coalition "advisers" were attacked by an "unidentified force" outside the al-Tanf base on June 21, prompting the RAF response.

"As an act of collective self-defense, RAF Typhoons dropped a single Paveway IV on the position, which successfully removed the threat to our coalition partners," the spokesman said. "There was no need to inform Parliament of this action...only in the event that civilian casualties have resulted from a RAF strike would the [defense secretary] inform parliament of events," he added.

Slow-motion trainwreck: Pelosi trips over 'soy beans,' asks reporter to 'repoot' question

What is wrong with Nancy Pelosi?

As the noose seems to be tightening on her prospects to return to party power after the November elections, the House Minority Leader stumbled over words, suffered brain freezes and stared at reporters during a Thursday press conference.

"Last week, soy bean futures hit a nine-year low," Pelosi told reporters.

"Soy boyn- soy bean futures hit a nine-year low," she repeated, attempting to pronounce the words clearly, accentuating each one with a pointed finger.

Comment: Pelosi has been visibly deteriorating for over a year now, yet like Killary, is still pathologically clinging to whatever power she still has.
