SOTT Focus: American society would collapse if it weren't for these 8 myths

USA flag diggers
Our society should've collapsed by now. You know that, right?

No society should function with this level of inequality (with the possible exception of one of those prison planets in a "Star Wars" movie). Sixty-three percent of Americans can't afford a $500 emergency. Yet Amazon head Jeff Bezos is now worth a record $141 billion. He could literally end world hunger for multiple years and still have more money left over than he could ever spend on himself.

Italian PM tells Trump to relax Russian sanctions, Trump says they'll 'remain as is'

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte is interested in relaxing US and EU sanctions against Russia, but has apparently failed to sway US President Donald Trump despite the friendship they struck up over the immigration issue.

Conte, who met with Trump in Washington on Monday, said that Italy doesn't expect sanctions against Russia to be lifted overnight, but that Rome maintains a need for dialog with Russia and doesn't want the sanctions to harm Russian civil society or its small and medium businesses.

"Sanctions against Russia are not, and cannot be, an end unto itself," Conte said.

Flashback Useful atrocities serving the imperialist agenda: Media ignores murders committed by Western-backed militants

thanks corporate news
© Unknown
Who outside of Syria knows the names Yara Abbas, Maya Naser, Mohamed al-Saeed...? The corporate media has inundated us with news of the two American journalists allegedly beheaded, the first of whose execution video has been deemed faked. But what of the non-Western journalists and civilians beheaded and murdered by ISIS, al-Nusra, and associated terrorists in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine?

Why didn't the August 2012 execution (which some reported as a beheading) of TV presenter Mohamed al - Saeed, claimed by the Nusra gang, create the same outrage? Or the December 2013 kidnapping and point blank execution in Idlib by ISIS of Iraqi journalist Yasser al-Jumaili?

Why wasn't the murder of Yara Abbas—a journalist with al-Ikhbariaya, whose crew's car was attacked by an insurgent sniper—broadcast on Western television stations? Or that of Lebanese cameraman for al-Mayadeen, Omar Abdel Qader, shot dead by an insurgent sniper on March 8, 2014 in eastern Syria.

Maya Naser, Ali Abbas, Hamza Hajj Hassan (Lebanese), Mohamad Muntish (Lebanese), Halim Alou (Lebanese)...all were media workers killed by the Western-backed insurgents in Syria. Their deaths were reported by local media, some even got a passing notice in corporate media, but none resulted in a media frenzy of horror and condemnations as came with the alleged killings of Westerners. Another at least 20 Arab journalists have been killed by NATO's death squads in Syria in the past few years.

'You've lost Islam': Ethiopian PM snubs help from Abu Dhabi's crown prince because they're corrupting religion and creating chaos in Middle East

'You've lost Islam': Ethiopian PM recounts snub to Abu Dhabi Crown Prince
'You've lost Islam': Ethiopian PM recounts snub to Abu Dhabi Crown Prince
'We need to learn Arabic quickly, so we could better understand the religion and teach it to you, and return you to it'

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has said that he shunned an offer by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed to build an Islamic centre in the East African country by telling him that he had "lost" his religion.

Ahmed recalled the conversation with bin Zayed, who is considered the de facto ruler of the United Arab Emirates, in a speech to members of the American-Ethiopian Muslim community in the US state of Virginia on Friday.

"We will help you with many things. We will teach you," Bin Zayed allegedly said in a private conversation with Ahmed, who replied: "We don't need to learn the religion from you. You've lost the religion. What we need is to learn Arabic quickly, so we could better understand the religion and teach it to you, and return you to it."

Comment: The Ethiopian PM is merely stating the facts, who would want to be taught anything moral from a group with such an appalling record as the UAE? Saudi Arabia in particular is responsible for some of the worst human rights abuses at home and then abroad its crimes against humanity are legion; from its support for terrorists groups like ISIS, its funding of militant forms of Islam across the globe, and in its barbaric war on Yemen:

Flashback 5 times the US actively supported ISIS and other terrorist groups

ISIS Toyota Trucks
© 7our/TwitterISIS Toyota Trucks
Everyone knows U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East has more to do with destabilization than diplomacy. Whether arming terror states like Israel and Saudi Arabia or flattening entire countries like Libya and Iraq, American intervention is pretty much always a humanitarian disaster. At times, this policy has even included arming ISIS - the very terror group Washington claims to oppose.

The reason for this help is that ISIS assists U.S. foreign policy goals. It is no secret that the U.S. has tried to overthrow the democratically elected Syrian government for years. To further their goals, the U.S. regime has more or less aligned with just about every terrorist group short of ISIS publicly, including Jahbat al-Nusra.

Yet at times this alliance has extended past terror groups fighting under the Free Syrian Army banner. In many situations, the U.S. has seemingly supported ISIS. Whether these instances are mere coincidence or represent a pattern of support is up to you to decide. Below are five strongest instances of the U.S. helping ISIS and other terrorist groups.

A drone launched by the militants at Russia's Khmeimim base in Syria, was shot down by the airfield's defenses, Russia's Defense Ministry said on Monday.

The UAV targeting the Russian airbase approached from the direction of the Idlib de-escalation zone on Sunday night, the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria said in a statement.

"The target was destroyed by anti-aircraft fire at a significant distance from the base," the military said.

There were no injuries or material damage as a result of the attempted attack, with the Khmeimim airfield operating in routine manner.

Comment: Idlib remains one of the last pockets that the Western backed terrorists occupy in Syria. As noted in: EJ Magnier: Final battle against ISIS in southern Syria underway, Idlib is next
The battle of Idlib is not going to be a walkover since it is the last significant battle in Syria. Al-Qaeda and other jihadists and the thousands of foreign fighters are not expected to surrender. Russia vows to eliminate al-Qaeda unless Turkey finishes these off.

Saudis to US: No peace plan on the table unless East Jerusalem becomes Palestinian capital

Trump Saudi King

Saudi Arabia has reportedly given a private guarantee to its Arab allies that it will not endorse a US' Mideast peace plan that doesn't address Jerusalem's status or Palestinian refugees' right to return.

According to Haaretz, citing two senior diplomats, Saudi King Salman told the Trump administration that Riyadh wouldn't support its plan for Israeli-Palestinian peace if it didn't include a Palestinian capital in East Jerusalem.

"They told the administration, 'what we could do for you before Jerusalem, we won't be able to do now'," a diplomatic source told Haaretz, referring to the US' recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and the relocation of its embassy from Tel Aviv.

Over the weekend, Reuters reported that King Salman had reassured the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas of his support. The Palestinian ambassador to Riyadh, Basem Al-Agha, was cited as saying that the king told Abbas, "We will not abandon you... We accept what you accept and we reject what you reject."

Comment: Riyadh could not give a flying fig for the rights and well-being of the Palestinians or their will towards self-determination (just as Riyadh could not give a flying fig about the humanitarian disaster they are creating for the Yemenis or they did for the Syrians). So why come up with this bullshit now except to stir the pot a little and try to leverage a little power over team Trump and his marvelous "deal of the century"?

While Zimbabwe holds first post-Mugabe elections, US has already made its choice

Zimbabwe's presidential election is a chance for the people to choose a new leader after decades of Robert Mugabe's rule. However, some big global players don't want the "wrong candidate" to win, one analyst told RT.

The southern African nation of Zimbabwe held its presidential election on Sunday - the first since Robert Mugabe was ousted from power following 37 years in charge. A record 23 presidential candidates were cleared to run for office, but the main battle is unfolding between just two - incumbent President Emmerson Mnangagwa and opposition leader Nelson Chamisa.

Susan Lindauer's letter to President Trump: CIA's advance knowledge of 9/11 date including nuclear possibilities

Susan Lindauer's Extreme Prejudice

Mr. President,

Though it's impossible for most Americans to grasp to this day, without question US Intelligence possessed advance knowledge of the 9/11 attack in its precise configuration. Sworn civilian testimony in the Southern District of New York Federal Court in June, 2018 by Dr. Parke Godfrey, professor of Computer Technology at York University in Toronto and Kelly O'Meara former Chief of Staff for GOP Rep. Andrew Forbes of Long Island, has confirmed the following:

Craig Murray: British state's treatment of Jeremy Corbyn as 'anti-semite' illustrates the ubiquity of evil

Craig Murray
My world view changed forever when, after 20 years in the Foreign Office, I saw colleagues I knew and liked go along with Britain's complicity in the most terrible tortures, as detailed stunningly in the recent Parliamentary Intelligence and Security Committee Report. They also went along with keeping the policy secret, deliberately disregarding all normal record taking procedures, to the extent that the Committee noted:
131. We note that we have not seen the minutes of these meetings either: this causes us great concern. Policy discussions on such an important issue should have been minuted. We support Mr Murray's own conclusion that were it not for his actions these matters may never have come to light.
The people doing these things were not ordinarily bad people; they were just trying to keep their jobs, comforting themselves with the thought that they were only civil servants obeying orders. Many were also actuated by the nasty "patriotism" that grips in time of war, as we invaded Iraq and Afghanistan. Almost nobody in the FCO stood up against the torture or against the illegal war - Elizabeth Wilmshurst, Carne Ross and I were the only ones to leave over it.
