Trump's terrible, horrible, no good, warmongering national security team

Donald Trump
Gareth Porter paints a dismal picture. Time and again, President Donald Trump indicates he wants to do the right thing: get out Afghanistan, get out of Syria, get out of South Korea.

Every time, his national security team - the people he appointed - sends him to "the tank" and hotboxes him with all the reasons he's wrong and why the US needs to "stay the course" in multiple wars and absurd deployments.

If the account of Bob Woodward is to be believed, Trump's flailing against his own appointees is nothing less than pathetic, that of a pitiable Gulliver roped down by Lilliputians of his own installation. As described by Tom Engelhardt:

"We'll close our airports!" Salvini refuses Germany's plans to send migrants back to Italy

Rome has still not reached an agreement with Berlin on the repatriation of asylum seekers who had first registered in Italy, Interior Minister Matteo Salvini said, vowing to close airports to German flights transferring refugees.

"If someone in Berlin or Brussels thinks of dumping dozens of migrants in Italy via unauthorized charter flights, they should know that there is not and there will be no airport available," Salvini said in a statement, adding that Italy will "close the airports" just as it earlier closed its ports to NGO vessels carrying migrants rescued in the Mediterranean.

His sharp statement comes in response to the rumors first circulated by the Italian La Repubblica daily that Germany plans to speed up repatriation procedures ahead of the regional elections in the state of Bavaria, the home state of the Interior Minister Horst Seehofer.

SOTT Focus: Assassinations, False-flags, And a Cuppa Tea: British Intelligence Agencies And 'The Third Direction'

MI6 london
An intelligence service given free rein to commit 'serious crimes' in its own country is an intelligence service that is the enemy of its people.

The quite astounding revelation that Britain's domestic intelligence service, MI5, has enjoyed this very freedom for decades has only just been made public at a special tribunal in London, set up to investigate the country's intelligence services at the behest of a coalition of human rights groups, alleging a pattern of illegality up to and including collusion in murder.

The hitherto MI5 covert policy sanctioning its agents to commit and/or solicit serious crimes, as and when adjudged provident, is known as the Third Direction. This codename has been crafted, it would appear, by someone with a penchant for all things James Bond within an agency whose average operative is more likely to be 5'6" and balding with a paunch and bad teeth than any kind of lantern-jawed 007.

SOTT Focus: Coordinated NATO Propaganda Blitz Against Russia & China Takes Hypocrisy Into Twilight Zone

nato maniac
Just another week screaming at the sky at NATO HQ
What a week it's been for trying to tolerate hypocrisy and hysteria from the United States and its NATO partners. The slanderous accusations against Russia and China, in particular, can hardly become more absurd, or unhinged.

US Vice President Mike Pence, speaking at the imperialist Hudson Institute, accused China of "interfering" in elections to oust Trump from the White House. Beijing hit back, slamming the claims as "ridiculous".

Then we had Britain's pipsqueak Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson denouncing Russia as a "pariah state" over allegations that the Kremlin has been conducting a "global computer-hacking campaign".

Surely, the hypocrisy can't get more superlative than this.

Italy's deputy PM predicts "political earthquake" for European Union

The bloc may expect a "political earthquake" after the 2019 European Parliament election, Italy's Deputy Prime Minister Luigi Di Maio warned.

Di Maio said he believes that what happened in Italy after the general election in March 4, when the popular vote brought an unlikely coalition of two anti-establishment parties to power, will happen in the whole Europe. The pro-EU centrist parties shrank significantly as a result of the latest Italian parliamentary elections.

With the plebiscite that is scheduled for May next year "there will be a political earthquake at the European level," Di Maio, who is also the Minister of Economic Development and the head of the Five Star Movement (M5S), stated. "All the rules will change," the Italian high-ranking politician promised.

The Italian government and the EU authorities are at loggerheads over Rome's targeted budget deficit at 2.4 percent of the GDP that exceeds the limits set by the EU.

Jamal Khashoggi search continues: Turkish investigators reportedly want access to guarded consulate where Saudi journalist feared killed

Jamal Khashoggi

Washington Post sources calling contributor Jamal Khashoggi's death 'a preplanned murder'; Trey Yingst reports on the investigation in Turkey.

Turkish officials reportedly are demanding Saudi Arabia let investigators inside its Istanbul consulate Monday as international outcry grows amid fears that journalist Jamal Khashoggi was hacked to death inside its walls.

Khashoggi, a Washington Post contributor and frequent critic of the Saudi government, was last seen nearly a week ago entering the heavily-protected compound, which lies near the end of a tree-lined residential street and is guarded with thick doors and high walls topped with barbed wire.

Comment: Mr. Khashoggi's disappearance and possible death could throw a wrench into the current cozy U.S.- Saudi relationship. As always, who would benefit from it? Also, the Washington Post is the premier Deep State mouthpiece. Is it a potential strike at them too?

Sweida: A bloody massacre barely registered by Western media as ISIS slaughter innocent civilians in their sleep

On the 2nd October 2018, a young woman's life was brought to a brutal end by a bullet from an ISIS executioner's hand-gun. Mrs Thoraya Um Ammar was executed on video by the terrorist group more than two months after she and twenty five other women and children were kidnapped from the Sweida countryside, south of Damascus on July 25th 2018.

[Note: Numbers of kidnap victims do vary. While in Shbeki, I was told 32 were originally kidnapped but that a number of them managed to escape their captors and return to their village]

The images circulating of this execution are extremely distressing and we will not be sharing them in this article. During my recent visit to Syria, I visited three of the seven villages that came under attack in the eastern countryside of Sweida City on that fateful day in July 2018. The grief and anger was still very raw but civilians spoke to me of the bloodshed that was a result of the meticulously planned ISIS attack, unhindered by the US Coalition forces camped in Al Tanf, 330km to the East. ISIS entered the villages from the east and traversed vast areas of exposed desert to do so, apparently undetected by those who claim to wage war on ISIS inside Syria.

"The roads of Shrehi ran with blood" H Saab told me as we stood next to his family home in Shrehi where four of his relatives were murdered by the marauding ISIS gangs. He pointed to the still visible stains on the road in front of us and on the walls of the house and courtyard.

UN claims planet has only 12 years to avert chaos caused by debunked global warming

The world's nations should unite in an "unprecedented" effort to curb the global rise of temperatures by a larger-than-agreed margin, a UN climate-change panel said. This would limit the damage caused by industrialization.

The consequences of global climate change will be less severe for our planet if countries across the world managed to curb the rising of temperatures to 1.5 º C above pre-industrial levels, instead of the 2º C benchmark targeted today, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) said on Monday. Reaching this objective is possible, the study noted, but will require revolutionary changes to power generation methods and the phasing out of fossil fuels, coal in particular. A major transformation will also be required to the transportation network, as well as to human lifestyles, especially when it comes to growing food.

Comment: Every so often the global warmists have to come out and remind everyone that the world is, or will be in several decades, one step away from burning to a crisp. Never mind that global warming "science" is wrong, fraudulent, and a political weapon. See also:

The combination of savagery, civilization and constitutional government

Signing U.S. Constitution

The most important fact about the tawdry, sordid Supreme Court confirmation "hearings" was that the brouhaha wasn't about Justice Brett Kavanaugh personally.

Rather, it revealed the desperation of the Democratic Party to prevent a Supreme Court majority comprising justices who believe in the original intent of the Constitution - in other words, who believe that the Constitution means what it says.

The Democrats want justices who view the Constitution as a "living, breathing document" - in other words, they want justices to reinterpret the Constitution in light of current societal attitudes. The father of our country, George Washington, warned against evading the Constitution's strictures for short-term expediency.

In his "Farewell Address," Washington explained that honoring and abiding by the Constitution was essential if Americans were to remain a free people governed by impartial laws, rather than live in subjection to the politically powerful.

Senator Susan Collins drove a stake through the heart of the liberal mob

Susan Collins
Maine Senator Susan Collins
It's not often people are genuinely surprising in politics, but Friday saw one of the most shocking and amazing displays of heroism in recent memory. It wasn't just spectacular because of what was done, but because of who did it and how brilliantly it was done.

Maine Senator Susan Collins is one of those Republicans that drives conservatives crazy - a moderate from a purple state who is always a question mark when the chips are down. More often than not, you don't want to find yourself in a position where you need her vote. But everything, all past transgression and irritations were wiped clean when, at 3:00, Senator Collins did what no one expected her to do and may well have saved the republic.

You might think that last part is a bit much, a little over the top. It's really not.

Collins gave a speech not only announcing her support for the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, she also eviscerated the entire liberal smear machine that had been mobilized against a good in a way only someone in her position could.
