Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Ryabkov: Takeover of Venezuela's embassy in Brazil timed to coincide with launch of BRICS summit

The seizure of Venezuela's embassy in Brasilia was not only an attack on the legitimate government of Nicolas Maduro in Caracas, but also an attempt to sow discord between the BRICS member states, Russia's Deputy FM told RT.

The Wednesday storming on the diplomatic mission by the supporters of US-backed Venezuelan opposition figure Juan Guaido was "planned before and timed that it coincided with the first day of BRICS summit," Sergey Ryabkov said.

It took place on the same day as the leaders of Russia, China, India and South Africa arrived to the Brazilian capital for the high-profile BRICS summit. Members of the block, which unites the world's largest emerging economics, have quite different views on the crisis in Venezuela. Moscow and Beijing are backing Maduro as the democratically-elected president, while Brazil's Jair Bolsonaro said he recognized Guaido as Venezuelan leader.

Comment: The political and economic battle lines are being drawn quite literally everywhere - because the US' interests in Wall Street, Langley and Washington have a lot to lose when their power gets challenged by the likes of BRICS:

Best of the Web: The latest false news on the Trump impeachment circus

fake false news
© WSJ
As the media are all out to get Trump, there is no way to get any valid information about the so-called impeachment. But you don't have to pay too much attention to notice that the Democrats and the presstitutes are constantly changing the focus. The alleged whistleblower, who only had hearsay information, if that, has dropped out of the picture, being too compromised by his afflilations and prior meetings with Adam Schiff during which the "whistleblowing" was planned as an attack on Trump.

The Democrats and presstitutes then shifted focus to state department types who also heard second hand from "staff" about the alleged conversation containing a quid pro quo, a claim unsupported by the transcript of the telephone call or by the President of Ukraine. So now a new alleged phone call has emerged, or been invented. The acting ambassador to Ukraine, William Taylor, a sleazy State Department type, today (Nov. 13) testified that a member of his staff heard Trump in another telephone call asking Sondland about the Ukraine investigation of the Bidens. This second-hand information is described by the presstitute media as a "bombshell." God help us. It is nothing of the sort. But the presstitutes will repeat it until it is.

A person has to wonder how many members of staffs are permitted to listen to telephone conversations between heads of state. In my day it was zero.

Comment: We are witnessing political warfare and a battle of narratives of the first order - where the fate of many lie in the balance. When a fact-based history of this time in the US is finally put together, do not expect it to look kindly on the efforts of Schiff and the pathological political class who have done so much to divide the country in a sick effort to accrue money and power.

First hour of public impeachment hearings: Democrats' 'blockbuster' opening hour fizzles

Democrats opened public impeachment hearings on Wednesday promising to dramatically detail the case for the president's impeachment, but there was little excitement in the first 93 minutes.

House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff began the proceedings with a solemn statement recounting the events that sparked the impeachment inquiry.

Ambassador Bill Taylor and Deputy Assistant Secretary George Kent, the two bureaucrats selected by Schiff to kick off the public impeachment hearings also failed to deliver much drama.

Comment: So much like the Mueller investigation into "Russian collusion" this whole exercise in political witchuntery looks to be like much ado about nothing.

Taylor and Kent began their statements recounting the history of diplomacy in the United States as well as the history of Ukraine and their lengthy careers of public service.

Both bureaucrats expressed their concerns about the president's actions in Ukraine but proved that they were frequently alarmed and concerned but mostly did not have knowledge of the president's motives.

Democrat during impeachment hearing: 'Hearsay can be much better evidence than direct'

Rep Mike Quigley

Democrat Rep. Mike Quigley (IL) faced intense backlash on Wednesday afternoon after claiming during Democrats' impeachment inquiry hearing that "hearsay" can be "much better evidence than direct" evidence.

In a rambling statement, Quigley said, "And, if gets to closed primer on hearsay, I think the American public needs to be reminded that countless people have been convicted on hearsay because the courts have routinely allowed and created, needed exceptions to hearsay."

Quigley continued, "Hearsay can be much better evidence than direct ... and it's certainly valid in this instance."

Comment: Increasingly what is being seen in today's cultural climate is the death of truth. Facts are being made to play second fiddle to opinions and hearsay. Truth is becoming subjective and the bread and circuses continue to distract the populace from reality.

John Brennan's CIA anti-Trump task force: Could it become Obamagate?

Brennan and Obama

There is considerable evidence that the American system of government may have been victimized by an illegal covert operation organized and executed by the U.S. intelligence and national security community. Former Director of National Intelligence Jim Clapper, former CIA Director John Brennan and former FBI Director Jim Comey appear to have played critical leadership roles in carrying out this conspiracy and they may not have operated on their own. Almost certainly what they may have done would have been explicitly authorized by the former President of the United States, Barack Obama, and his national security team.

It must have seemed a simple operation for the experienced CIA covert action operatives. To prevent the unreliable and unpredictable political upstart Donald Trump from being nominated as the GOP presidential candidate or even elected it would be necessary to create suspicion that he was the tool of a resurgent Russia, acting under direct orders from Vladimir Putin to empower Trump and damage the campaign of Hillary Clinton. Even though none of the alleged Kremlin plotters would have expected Trump to actually beat Hillary, it was plausible to maintain that they would have hoped that a weakened Clinton would be less able to implement the anti-Russian agenda that she had been promoting. Many observers in both Russia and the U.S. believed that if she had been elected armed conflict with Moscow would have been inevitable, particularly if she moved to follow her husband's example and push to have both Georgia and Ukraine join NATO, which Russia would have regarded as an existential threat.

AG William Barr says release of FISA Report is 'imminent'

Attorney General William Barr said Wednesday that the release of an inspector general's report on FBI's surveillance of the Trump campaign is "imminent."

Multiple news outlets reported Tuesday that Michael Horowitz, the Justice Department inspector general, has invited witnesses interviewed in connection with the investigation to review portions of the forthcoming report. The step is routine in investigations conducted by inspectors general, and typically signals that the release of the report is near.

Horowitz told lawmakers in June that his investigators had interviewed more than 100 witnesses and reviewed more than 1 million documents during the investigation, which began in March 2018.

Barr confirmed during a press conference on Tuesday that the Horowitz report is forthcoming.

"It's been reported and it's my understanding that it is imminent," Barr told reporters in Memphis, according to Politico.

To save his political and personal skin, Netanyahu is going to war with Gaza

gaza bomb evacuate children
© Fadi Fahd/Flash90Palestinians evacuate the wounded from Israeli air strikes in Gaza City on November 12, 2019. Earlier in the day an Israeli air strike killed Palestinian Islamic Jihad field commander Baha Abu Al-Atta.
Even as Israel becomes chronically unable to form a government, the 'Gaza consensus' — the endless pounding of the strip into oblivion — persists. It could tip the scales in Netanyahu's favor.

There is no military solution in Gaza. But Israel's leaders, who are too much at loggerheads to sit in a government together, are somehow able to agree that when it comes to maintaining Israel's 12-year siege, there is only room for violent tinkering.

That violence was on full display early Tuesday morning, when Israel assassinated Islamic Jihad commander Baha Abu al-Ata in his Gaza home while he slept; the projectile also killed his wife and wounded his four children. Meanwhile, the son of another Islamic Jihad leader was killed in a separate strike, widely attributed to Israel, in Damascus overnight. Prime Minister Netanyahu said the targeted assassination of Abu al-Ata, which Israel refers to as a "surgical strike," was a necessary pre-emptive measure to stop what he termed a "ticking time bomb."

Bolivia's President Evo Morales has been highlighting his government's independence from international money lending organizations and their detrimental impact the nation, the Telesur TV reported.

"A day like today in 1944 ended Bretton Woods Economic Conference (USA), in which the IMF and WB were established," Morales tweeted. "These organizations dictated the economic fate of Bolivia and the world. Today we can say that we have total independence of them."

Morales has said Bolivia's past dependence on the agencies was so great that the International Monetary Fund had an office in government headquarters and even participated in their meetings.

Joe Biden declares 'Israel has a right to defend itself' after its military kills multiple Palestinians with missile attacks

biden netanyahu
PM Netanyahu meets with US Vice President Joe Biden, 2016.
As Israel continues to launch dozens of missile strikes into Gaza, so far having killed at least 24 Palestinians, including children, and injuring 70 more, former vice president and current Democratic frontrunner Joe Biden took to Twitter to declare that he supports the country's actions.

"Israel has a right to defend itself against terrorist threats," wrote Biden, "It is intolerable that Israeli civilians live their lives under the constant fear of rocket attacks. That's why our administration was such a strong supporter of Israel's life-saving Iron Dome." Along with his statement, he shared an article about the Gaza rocket attacks from NBC.

On Tuesday, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they had killed Palestinian Islamic Jihad commander Bahaa Abu el-Atta. At a press conference about the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Abu el-Atta was a "ticking bomb" and that the strike had been carefully plotted to avoid further casualties. However, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that, in addition to Abu el-Atta's wife being killed in the attack, at least three other Palestinians died.

Comment: Biden and Pence are equally soulless sell-outs. Palestinians have had to live under constant threat of much more than rocket attacks for the past 70 years. For slugs like Biden and Pence, murder is okay, as long as it's Israel doing it.

Google moves into banking even though it is the subject of new federal probe into shady medical data collection

google health information collection
Google wants you to trust it with your money, even as its latest privacy scandal, where millions of Americans' medical records were covertly slurped up to power a secret AI project, has triggered another federal investigation.

Google is rolling out a consumer finance division, currently codenamed Cache, in partnership with Citigroup and a Stanford University credit union, the Wall Street Journal revealed on Wednesday. The search behemoth will begin offering checking accounts to customers next year, muscling into yet another market, despite a mounting stack of federal investigations targeting potential antitrust abuses.
