GOP senators call out Biden nominee's rant about bankrupting fossil fuel industries

Saule Omarova
Republican senators representing some of the U.S.'s leading carbon energy-producing states are speaking out against Comptroller of the Currency nominee Saule Omarova's claim that Americans should cheer the collapse of oil, coal, and natural gas industries.

More than 1,148,000 Americans were employed in the fuels industry in 2019, according to a joint report produced by the National Association of State Energy Officials and the Energy Futures Initiative. Fossil fuels consisted of 80% of the U.S.'s domestic energy production and consumption that same year, according to the Energy Information Administration.

Despite the major impact of carbon-based energy on the lives of every-day Americans and the U.S. economy, Omarova claimed during a March 2021 lecture that she wants "the coal and oil and gas industry... to go bankrupt if we want to tackle climate change."

In a May 2021 conference, Omarova doubled down, saying that the U.S. could "get rid of those carbon financiers [by] starv[ing] them of their sources of capital."

Comment: Golly, it's kind of like these unhinged crazies are making a concerted effort to cause complete social and economic collapse leading to all out chaos, death, and destruction.

Putin comments on allegations of Russian involvement in Poland-Belarus border standoff

putin
Contrary to what some parties allege, Russia is not involved in the ongoing crisis at the borders of Belarus and EU members Poland and Lithuania, President Vladimir Putin insisted on Saturday.

"I want everyone to know. We have absolutely nothing to do with any of this," Putin vowed, in an interview with Rossiya-1 television. He was commenting on accusations that Russia was somehow a party to the ongoing conflict between Minsk and EU members.

"They are trying to shift the responsibility to us at the slightest pretext or even without any pretext," the president remarked. He was referring to claims by some EU officials that Russian flag carrier Aeroflot was involved in transporting people from Middle Eastern countries to Belarus before these try to enter Poland or Lithuania, presumably to claim asylum there. The flights actually involved in the scheme are "charter flights," Putin said.

The Scottish government is planning to put tampons and sanitary towels in male toilets in case they are required by transgender civil servants.

Various female hygiene items would be put in men's lavatories 'close to meeting/conference rooms and/or main entrances to premises,' officials said, in a 209-page submission to LGBT charity Stonewall.

Nicola Sturgeon's government stated it was 'providing sanitary bins and a varied selection of sanitary products... in those premises where gender neutral facilities do not exist', the Daily Telegraph reported.

WaPo backpedling furiously on phony Steele Dossier: Issues 'massive' correction, 'can't stand by accuracy' of two stories

the washington post

Comment: Soooo, y'all gonna be returning those Pulitzer Prizes?

The Washington Post reported Friday it deleted and corrected portions of two articles about the Steele Dossier after the paper decided it "could no longer stand by the accuracy of those elements of the story."

The outlet "took the unusual step of correcting and removing large portions of two articles" that were published in both March of 2017 and February of 2019 "that had identified a Belarusan American businessman as a key source of the 'Steele dossier'."

Comment: Quite a few real journalists think you should:
Critics have called for the revocation of a Pulitzer Prize given to the Washington Post for its "relentless" Russiagate reporting, after the newspaper made heavy corrections to two stories based on the discredited Steele dossier.

In a statement on Friday, the Washington Post announced that it had removed "large portions" of two articles covering the discredited Steele dossier - a political opposition report commissioned by Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign which claimed to have evidence of a conspiracy between President Donald Trump and Russia.

"Another major editor's note attached to a Washington Post Russiagate story. This one is essentially a retraction. There's no way for major media outlets can keep evading this accountability. It's crashing down," tweeted journalist Glenn Greenwald, who added that the "scope of the media's Russiagate fraud is only starting to be appreciated."

Journalist Michael Tracey noted that Tom Hamburger and Rosalind Helderman, the two authors behind an article which "has now been effectively retracted," received a Pulitzer Prize "for their Russiagate reporting from exactly the same time period."

"Kinda makes you wonder what else they got egregiously wrong, doesn't it?" he questioned, as other social media users called on the Pulitzer Prize to revoke Hamburger and Helderman's award and demanded that the journalists resign.

Some social media users questioned why the Washington Post would not completely retract its discredited coverage instead of making such heavy edits. Meanwhile, others argued the damage was already done and that deleting falsehoods several years after they published merely amounted to "hiding the evidence."

After Ukraine's Zelensky closed down the Kyiv Post, will the West continue to give him a free pass for his clampdown on media freedom?

Anyone following Ukraine may have been surprised to hear about the sudden shuttering of the English-language Kyiv Post this week, in the latest acrimonious episode to hit the country's press industry.

The outlet's owner, real-estate tycoon Adnan Kivan, who runs the KADORR business group, did not stand on ceremony, simply informing the newsroom staff one morning that their jobs and their paper were over. Even if Kivan added a few token words of thanks for their services and made vague promises of, in essence, opening a different paper under the same name, his behavior was undoubtedly rough.

The Post's reporters have since published a letter of protest, in which they accuse their former boss of planning to undercut the paper's editorial independence. In their view, the decision to shut it down, rather than sell it, is retribution for their resistance against such plans. They claim that their news desk has been the "primary source of information about Ukraine for the international community" for over a quarter of a century, calling on foreign backers to support them now.

Assistant professor calls for 'stigma' of pedophilia to be 'delegitimized'

A "non-binary" associate professor at Old Dominion University has called for the "stigma" of pedophilia to be 'delegitimized'.

Yes, really.

The Prostasia Foundation, a registered 503c which has called for child-like sex dolls to be legalized, posted an interview with Allyn Walker, a female-to-male transgender, who outlined her views on "minor attraction."

Walker, an assistant professor of sociology and criminal justice at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, is the author of a book called A Long, Dark Shadow: Minor Attracted People and Their Pursuit of Dignity.

In the interview, Walker insists that the term "minor attracted people" should be used in preference to 'pedophile' because pedophiles' feelings might be hurt otherwise.

She also highlights how, "MAP (Minor Attracted People) advocacy groups like B4U-Act have advocated for use of the term, and they've advocated for it primarily because it's less stigmatizing than other terms like pedophile."

When "work arounds" don't work: The Fifth Circuit cites Biden's own Chief of Staff in rejecting vaccine mandate

OSHA vaccine mandates biden constitution

I recently wrote a column on the legal challenges to President Joe Biden's vaccine mandate issued through OSHA. Not only is the use of OSHA regulations unprecedented for imposing a national vaccine mandate, I noted that Chief of Staff Ron Klain went to Twitter to herald the use of OSHA as a "work around" the constitutional limitations placed on President Biden. I asked how a court would respond to such an admission. We have to wonder no more. Late Friday, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit cited Klain's comment in its decision enjoining the mandate.

In the prior column, I noted Klain acknowledged that the use of OSHA was a "work around" in light of the constitutional barriers preventing President Biden from ordering a national mandate directly. The Fifth Circuit also picked up on that glaring admission in footnote 13:
On September 9, 2021, White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain retweeted MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle's tweet that stated, "OSHA doing this vaxx mandate as an emergency workplace safety rule is the ultimate work-around for the Federal govt to require vaccinations."

British prosecutors caught lying: EU has not issued arrest warrants for accused novichok poisoners

British government officials. state prosecutors, and police have lied repeatedly in announcements over the past three years that they have issued European Arrest Warrants charging three Russian military officers with attempted murder using the Novichok chemical weapon against targets in England.

The three Russians have been named in official British press releases as Alexander Petrov (also known as Alexander Mishkin); Ruslan Boshirov (Anatoly Chepiga); and Denis Sergeyev (Sergei Fedotov - lead image).

This week a spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in London declared: "I can confirm that European Arrest Warrants have been issued for all three suspects." Asked for proof, a senior CPS official refused, announcing: "We have nothing further to add."

Bashar Assad getting accepted by Arab leaders. US and Israel losing their chance

Damascus Syria • November 9, 2021
In a significant move towards normalising Syria's government, UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed visited Damascus to discuss strengthening the ties between the two nations, sparking outrage from the US and Israel.

A surprise visit to the Syrian capital on Tuesday by Abu Dhabi's foreign minister sparked condemnation from the United States, which seeks to encourage its Arab State allies to steer clear of President Assad. According to State Department spokesperson Ned Price, the US urges
"states in the region to carefully consider the atrocities that this regime, that Bashar al-Assad himself has perpetrated on the Syrian people over the last decade, as well as the regime's ongoing efforts to deny much of the country access to humanitarian aid and security."
That seems to have fallen on deaf ears over in Abu Dhabi.

Comment: There does not seem to be a clear path to Syrian peace and restoration, nor true allies for Assad. Meanwhile, the vultures are circling...

Best of the Web: The Washington Post issues corrections on Steele Dossier stories

Comment: And just like that, Russiagate is acknowledged as... FAKE NEWS!!!

The Washington Post is taking the "unusual step of correcting and removing large portions of two articles" about the discredited Steele Dossier, a document instrumental in initiating federal investigations into links between Donald Trump's campaign for president and the Russian government, per a new piece by Paul Farhi, a media reporter for the Post.

While articles published in March 2017 and February 2019 "identified businessman Sergei Millian as 'Source D,'" the source responsible for the claim that Trump had solicited Russian prostitutes in Moscow, executive editor Sally Buzbee said the Post could not continue to vouch for the veracity of that claim.

According to Buzbee, the indictment of Igor Danchenko, a contributor to the Steele Dossier, by Special Counsel John Durham for lying to the FBI about its sourcing, has cast new doubts on the Post's assertions about Millian.

Original, unamended versions of the articles have been archived.

It is now believed that the Trump-prostitute story originated with Charles Dolan Jr., a Democratic operative with a preexisting relationship with Hillary Clinton, Trump's opponent in the 2016 election.
