In yet another case of death due to stray dog bite, a child in Gujarat lost his life after he was fatally attacked by a dog.

The incident happened at a ceramic factory on Matel Road in Morbi city of the state.

According to the details, on July 11, a two-and-a-half-year-old boy, belonging to a family working at the factory, was attacked by a stray dog while he was playing on the premises.

The child received serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Wankaner, where he was declared dead.

In a tragic incident, 85 sheep died on Tuesday after being struck by lightning in UP's Chandauli district, officials said on Wednesday. Taking cognizance of the incident, chief minister Yogi Adityanath instructed officials to provide financial assistance to three affected farmers at the rate of ₹4,000 per sheep.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning at isolated places in the state while heavy showers were likely at isolated places over western and eastern parts of UP.

Thunderstorms with lightning were likely in over 40 districts of UP, including Lucknow, Kanpur, Pratapgarh, Jaunpur, Gorakhpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Agra, and adjoining areas. According to the Met office, rainfall in the state will continue till July 15.

A 15-year-old girl was mauled to death by two large dogs that escaped home and began terrorising the streets in Argentina.

The victim, named only as Trinidad, was walking along the street at around midday on 9 July, Jam Press reports.

The two Dogo Argentino canines, a large breed of the mastiff type of dog, are said to have escaped from their home and attacked her.

They reportedly bit the teenager on her head and neck, causing fatal injuries.

She passed away in hospital in the Argentine city of Córdoba in the early hours of 10 July.

After a week of storms and Saturday night's torrential rain and hail, residents across Oklahoma City woke up Sunday morning to hundreds of dead birds in the street.

WildCare Oklahoma, a nonprofit animal rehabilitation center in Noble, received numerous calls about hundreds or more purple martins downed from the storm and hail, including near the shopping area north of I-40 in Oklahoma City.

"Thanks to the public's support, we were able to save a small number of birds from the colony," said WildCare Oklahoma Executive Director Inger Giuffrida.

On Sunday, WildCare received 174 wildlife patients, with birds accounting for the majority of the cases. Among them were 121 purple martins, great-tailed grackles, doves, pigeons and European starlings, with many of the juveniles spending time on the ground with their injured parents.

The local authorities in Maysan announced on Saturday that they had monitored the deaths of fish in the Al-Ezz River, warning of serious diseases at the same time.

A 12-year-old boy was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in Rajasthan's Bundi on Sunday.

The incident occurred in Sadar police station area when the canines attacked the victim some distance away from the village. The boy ran for his life but the dogs went after him. He screamed for help but there was nobody around at that time. The dogs pounced on him and continued to attack him.

Finally, some passers-by saw the boy being attacked by dogs and rescued him. But, the boy was seriously injured and had almost fainted by then. His family members were informed and he was rushed to the hospital. However, the boy succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Australia has gone from an average of just nine shark attacks a year in the 1990s to an average of 22 attacks from 2010-2020.

Incidents have been steadily rising, going from six attacks in 1992 to 17 in 2007 and 33 by 2015.

NSW and WA remain the most at risk places, with some areas considered shark bite 'hotspots', such as the Northern Rivers region of NSW.

There was an extreme uptick in incidents in 2020, recording 37 attacks, eight of which were fatal. It was the highest number of fatalities in 50 years.

A 21-year-old woman who was planting trees was seriously injured by a bear in western Canada in what authorities have called a "defensive attack."

The attack happened shortly after 3 p.m. on Thursday near Bearhole Lake Provincial Park outside of Tumbler Ridge, a small town in northeastern British Columbia, according to a Friday news release from the province's Conservation Officer Service.

"The bear first bluff-charged and the victim retreated to a nearby roadway, where the bear attacked," officials said.

The bear eventually ran off and a coworker of the woman came to her aid and called for help, the agency said.

A 6-year-old North Port boy died on Wednesday following severe injuries from a dog bite.

The North Port Police Department responded to the 2700 block of Badger Lane after the boy was bit around 10:30 a.m. by a 3-year-old Pitbull mix. Officials said the child passed away from extensive traumatic injuries in the upper torso region.

"Our hearts are broken for this young child and his family," said North Port Police Chief Todd Garrison. "As a father and pet owner, I know this is one of the worst tragedies you can imagine."

A dead humpback whale washed up on the beach near Nieuw-Haamstede in the province of Zeeland. The animal measures approximately eight to ten meters in length and has likely been dead for some time, according to Foundation SOS Dolfijn.

The whale was beached on Monday afternoon. SOS Dolfijn stated that a report of a dead whale floating approximately 8 miles off the Dutch coast had already been received on Sunday morning. Due to the strong northwest wind, the animal has now washed ashore.
