SOTT Focus: Behind the Headlines: Facts Intrude on the Reality Creators: The Rapid Decline of the American Empire

trump on presidency
While he campaigned on removing corruption from Washington politics and dialing back on US military aggression overseas, Trump appears to have learned a few hard lessons in his 1st 100 days in office. The US 'deep state' cannot be so easily dismantled, and it appears Trump has been forced to concede to the reality that, since America was built on the domination of other nations, it must continue to dominate if it is to survive in its current form.

But those pesky concepts - reality and facts - keep intruding on the dream of a New American Century. From Syria to North Korea (and everywhere in between) the US is being thwarted by the relatively quiet and unshakable resolve of Russia and China to assert their right to international preeminence as the largest and most populous nations on the planet. More to the point, the 'center' of the globe is clearly Eurasia, while America sits isolated from this center by the world's two largest oceans.

This week on Behind the Headlines, we'll be bringing you an across-the-board update on the general state of the world, what's hot, what's not, and what the near future is likely to bring, politically, militarily, socially and environmentally.

Join your hosts this Sunday April 30th from 12.00 - 1.30pm EST (6.00 - 7.30pm CEST)

SOTT Focus: Behind the Headlines: French elections, UK elections, and the Korean Question

cnn french elections
With snap elections called for June, the UK joins a plethora of 'civilized' countries going to the ballot box this year. The world as we know it may be falling apart, but at least people can still vote in referenda and elections, which is a good thing, right?

Russian hacking, the 'deep state', anti-establishment candidates, 'terror' attacks, fake polls and media bias; today's election in France has marked similarities with last year's US elections. The same goes for the UK, where the 'unelectable' Jeremy Corbyn runs against the British 'deep state' in June.

Meanwhile, in Trumpland, war against North Korea is 'on the table'. The Neocon-era 'clash of civilizations' between the 'civilized' world and the 'axis of evil' wasn't meant to survive Trump's victory, but it has...

Today on Behind the Headlines we're taking a look at the line-up in today's first round of the French election, looking ahead to the UK election, and assessing the likelihood of an actual showdown between West and East in northeast Asia.

SOTT Focus: The Truth Perspective: Interview with Gordon M. Hahn: Revolution, regime change and jihad

gordon hahn
The recent terror attack in St. Petersburg, Russia, is nothing new. Russia has been waging a war on Islamic terrorism for the last 20 years. What started as a homegrown Chechen separatist movement was quickly hijacked by elements of the so-called global Islamist jihad - veterans of the Afghan-Arab mujahedin and affiliates of al-Qaeda. While many commentators in the West were happy to write off the Chechen terrorists as "freedom fighters", Gordon Hahn was one of the first in the West to sound the alarm in his book Russia's Islamic Threat. His predictions came true when former "President of Ichkeria" Dokka Umarov founded the Caucasus Emirate in 2007, the subject of his next book, The Caucasus Emirate Mujahedin. After the creation of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, most of the CE's fighters defected to join the Islamic State's jihad, where many have met their fate.

Today on the Truth Perspective, we interview Dr. Hahn about his work on Russia's Islamic threat, as well as his research on regime change and revolution. We'll also discuss ideas from his first book, Russia's Revolution from Above: Reform, Transition, and Revolution in the Fall of the Soviet Communist Regime, and his upcoming book Ukraine Over the Edge: Russia, the West and the "New Cold War". You can read his work on his Russian and Eurasian Politics blog at Gordonhahn.com.

SOTT Focus: Behind the Headlines: Trump's Hit and Run in Syria - Playing the Deep State Game

Trump dark side
"Assad can stay." "Syrians must determine their future." St. Petersburg bombed. Chemical attack in Syria. "Assad must go." "We must determine Syrians' future." Oh, what a difference a day makes. In a repeat of 2013, a trumped up jihadi production special of chemical weapons blamed on Assad has pushed Trump to respond in a way that even Obama didn't. According to CNN, he finally "became president" this week when he ordered the U.S. military to launch 29 Tomahawk missiles at a Syrian airbase. War hawks on the left and right rejoiced. America's allies rejoiced. Israel wept tears of joy. And yet...

Over half the missiles missed their targets (for reasons no one knows at this time). The base was practically empty. The damage was insignificant. Russia closed down the deconfliction phone lines and is now beefing up air defense in Syria. In other words, the event seems to have been more spectacle than substance. The Trump administration is reserving the right to do it again, but will they really risk putting Russia's missile defenses to the test? Or has Trump's attack had the paradoxical effect of making a future attack even less likely?

Today on Behind the Headlines we'll go behind the Trump-lines get to the bottom of the latest episode of Trump Being Trump. Prepare to laugh, cry, be horrified, and disturbingly entertained. It's never a dull day in Trumpland.

SOTT Focus: Behind the Headlines: A Tale of Two Governments: Trump vs 'the Intel Community'

CNN Trump
© CNNWhat CNN sees...
Trump was elected on the basis of turning the US ship of state around: no more senseless wars, no more regime change operations, no more pay-to-play politics, and no more gutting the real US economy to feed the fake one. In short, 'draining the swamp' that is Washington, DC, and reversing US economic decline.

What we've instead seen under a Trump administration is more militarism overseas and legislative crises on the domestic front, all shrouded by a "vortex" (CNN's term) of "questions and tension at the White House" as Trump's agenda is lens-distorted by an entirely fictional 'Russian scandal'.

The so-called 'intelligence community' - really, a cabal of ruthlessly psychopathic 'reality-creators' with complete disregard for facts - effectively holds Trump hostage via the media. And that, in itself, points to something unprecedented: the degree to which the media - in the US and across 'Westernia' - is aligned with the cabal against Trump.

Day after day, on issue after issue, from giving public speeches to meeting foreign leaders, the media twists everything Trump's administration says or attempts to do. The White House attempts to communicate with the public via social media and daily email newsletters, but even in this medium it is drowned out by media distortion.

This week we go Behind the Headlines to find out what's really going on in Trumpland, and probably much more. Join your hosts at 6pm CET 12 noon EST for our usual lively discussion.

SOTT Focus: The Health & Wellness Show: Meet the Meat You'd Never Eat!

Hamberger
Maastricht University physiologist Mark Post is expected to grill a patty of lab-grown meat that has taken two years and €250,000 ($338,000) to produce. (Google)
On this episode of the Health and Wellness Show we look into the future of food, where the science is going and what we can expect in the coming years. In the food science world it is not what can be created but what will be accepted. New high tech foods are easy to create in a lab with enough financial backing though the trouble the industry is having is getting the consumer to overcome the 'yuck factor'. Artificial meat research, genetically modified animals, cloned meat, lab grown-test tube meat, bleeding veggie burgers -- nothing is too far out for big corporations looking to make a profit off of the notion that consumers want save the Earth while eating 'healthy clean meat'.

Join us for a lively discussion and stay tuned for Zoya's Pet Health segment where the topic will be the pet food industry.
