It doesn't make any sense to say: "Why are so many people getting sick when they shouldn't be if they've had this shot?" Without thinking that maybe their incessant pushing of it has created the problem. It's seems to be a fear based belief system that no-one is allowed to question. It's interesting to note that you actually have decline in writing to AVOID this invasive procedure. That's consent, arse backwards, if you ask me.
What also doesn't make sense to me is why a flu shot, which only has 4 different types of flu strains, could possibly protect anyone from the other (over) 100 different strains out there! Not logical and simply stupid, I think. Unfortunately people forgot to think before they listen to the marketing.
In Australian hospitals we have something called 'Antibiotic Stewardship'. This is to stop the spread of superbugs due to the injudicious use of antibiotics. I'd like to know by what process of magical thinking do people think that viruses are somehow exempt from the laws of nature, where bacteria aren't?
The irony is, I think Infection Control Departments are only just now cottoning on to the fact that their incessant 'pushing' of the flu jab may be causing the problem instead of preventing it. Of course, the bureaucrats in management remain frighted, reactive, and clueless. They think a needle will fix everything and are very keen to force people into doing it.
I recently spoke to a junior nurse who said she felt 'compelled' to have the flu shot because of the number of emails out there about it and then felt 'guilty' when she had to take time off after getting sick post the shot. This is beginning to look like bullying. I also spoke to several nurses who refuse to have it because they had such rotten reactions from it. The interesting thing about this, is that these people were mostly non Australian born and non-Caucasian (i.e. Indian, African and South East Asian nurses).
Personally, I wish people would think a bit more before deciding to adopt and all encompassing 'faith' that vaccines are 'safe and effective'.
P.s. I can't ever remember having the flu. I have a sneaking suspicion that this is because I grew up with a parent who was a health care worker, who was continually being exposed to viruses and also exposing us to the same! The immune system NEEDS to be exercised, otherwise it gets weak. I'm beginning to think our health system is all about crippling us and making our immune systems weak, so we end up getting sick.
