Medical freedom for physicians: Should doctors lose their license over a difference of opinion?

doctors
There are actually some doctors and legislators who would have us take the human touch out of medicine; eliminate opinion and judgment from medical practice.
The art of medicine. It's the cornerstone of medical practice. If medicine were all science, and only science, then we wouldn't need human beings as doctors. We could just use computers. Or robots. They'd probably do better if medicine were simply the act of decision-making based purely on facts. How much easier would medicine be if we could just type every symptom we have into a computer and have it spit out a diagnosis? And a treatment. Maybe throw in an automated scan or two, a pinprick for blood analysis. Maybe keep a human computer tech on standby in case one of the machines decides to go haywire.

But doctoring also takes judgment. It demands a personal touch. It involves intuition. A human being must take into account every single factor involved in every patient and make a decision on what to do each and every time that patient walks into the office. And it's OK for doctors to disagree with one another; opinions can differ. That's why many patients will seek a "second opinion" for complicated medical situations—because there rarely is just one absolutely correct answer.

Vaccine efficacy: Junk science at its worst

The two pillars upon which the entire edifice of vaccinology rest are that vaccines are safe and effective. We are told by our medical and federal authorities, physicians, pharmacists and health care practitioners that vaccines work by stimulating the body's immune system to create specific antibodies. These antibodies in turn will protect us from the infectious disease specific to a given vaccine.

This central premise is virtually never challenged. Hundreds of millions of Americans simply accept that all vaccines are scientifically proven to confer immunity against disease. In a previous article, Uncovering the Cover-Up: Scientific Analysis of the Vaccine-Autism Connection, Deeply Flawed US Vaccine Policies, we examined the myths about vaccine safety and presented the actual science demonstrating vaccines' toxic ingredients and adverse neurological effects. This report investigates the medical industry's claims that vaccines are effective. Moreover, the independent research presented for each major vaccine raises serious questions that challenge the concept of antibody generation as a reliable factor to assure viral and bacterial immunity.

Measuring Vaccine Efficacy: Junk Science at its Worst

Every flu season, millions of Americans visit their physician's office or local pharmacy to receive a flu shot. Recipients are given one of a handful of influenza vaccines on the market. The same vaccine will be injected into a 14 pound infant, teenage athletes weighing 200 pounds, and frail, immunocompromised elderly patients. Regardless of age, weight, medical history, previous compromised immune system and any other health factor, they are all given the same exact chemical cocktail. Furthermore, we are told to accept that this one-size-fits-all approach will predictably result in the production of a number of protective antibodies that will ward off a flu infection.

Russian and Canadian researchers successfully tested Vaccine to Prevent a Western 'Monopoly' in Ebola Treatment

Vaccine

In mid-December, Russian scientists successfully tested a new Ebola vaccine. According to Dr. Marie-Paule Kieny from the World Health Organization, the fact that there are several vaccines in the market is positive.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Canadian researchers came up with a new vaccine against Ebola virus that has been proved to be 100 percent effective in trials.

According to Dr. Kieny, the fact that Russia has also developed an Ebola vaccine is a very positive sign.
"This vaccine was developed over a decade ago by Canadian specialists. However, its development was delayed for several times because the vaccine was not expected to be commercially used. Until 2014, the research was funded by the Canadian government and after 2014 by the United States, because Ebola was considered a virus that could be potentially used by terrorists," Dr. Marie-Paule Kieny, Assistant Director-General at the World Health Organization (WHO), told Sputnik France.

Comment: The dangers of vaccines are very real and the controversy surrounding them is more than just 'conspiracy theory'. And now that steps are being taken to make them mandatory, it means that if people don't start standing up and saying something like these healthcare workers have, our bodies and right to self-determination of our health will be taken away and violated.

A very important documentary to watch on the subject is Vaxxed: From Cover-up to Catastrophe - below is an interview with the filmmakers discussing what they uncovered.

Flashback Guinea pigs: FDA's toughened warnings on Cipro may be linked to Gulf War illness

gulf war illness
During the 1990-91 Persian Gulf War, then-Navy corpsman David Ridenhour often browbeat troops in 1st Battalion, 5th Marines to take their medications — the anti-nerve agent pyridostigmine bromide and another pill, new to the market, to prevent anthrax.

Ridenhour took them. And while he doesn't completely blame his Gulf War illness symptoms on the drugs, he was interested to learn that last summer the Food and Drug Administration toughened its warnings for Ciprofloxacin, or Cipro, saying the potent antibiotic can cause severe and sometimes permanent nerve damage.

Ridenhour has that damage, known as peripheral neuropathy, which manifests as tingling and numbness in his limbs.

"They told us to start taking the Cipro, and I didn't know what it was for," he said. "But I clearly remember being told it was to prevent anthrax. Until then, as far as I knew, anthrax was a sheep disease."

It's been well documented that the Defense Department stockpiled 30 million doses of Cipro during the Gulf War, and 150,000 troops received anthrax vaccines to prevent infection. But less well known is that during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, some troops actually took Cipro in anticipation of an anthrax attack.

Comment: Fluoroquinolones are among the most dangerous drugs on the market; no other antibiotic carries as high a potential to cause serious, permanent injuries and even death. Fluoroquinolones have fluoride, a known neurotoxin as a central part of the drug. Drugs with an attached fluoride molecule are able to penetrate into very sensitive tissues, including the brain. This ability to cross the blood-brain barrier is what makes fluoride such a potent neurotoxin.

How being overweight affects DNA methylation

Helmholtz Zentrum München

The extra pounds you gain during the holidays will not only show up on your hips but will also affect your DNA. This is the result of a large-scale international study coordinated by Helmholtz Zentrum München, a partner in the German Center for Diabetes Research, which has now been published in Nature. The study shows that a high BMI leads to epigenetic changes at nearly 200 loci of the genome - with effects on gene expression.

While our genes do not change in the course of life, our lifestyle can directly influence their surroundings. Scientists speak here of the epigenome (Greek epi: over, outside of, around), which refers to everything that happens on or around the genes. Up to now there has not been much research on how the epigenome is altered as a result of being overweight. "This issue is particularly relevant because an estimated one and a half billion people throughout the world are overweight," said first author Dr. Simone Wahl of the Research Unit Molecular Epidemiology (AME) at Helmholtz Zentrum München, "especially considering that being overweight can have adverse consequences and lead to diabetes and diseases of the cardiovascular and metabolic systems."

Question

Does the EPA have Monsanto's hidden science regarding Glyphosate & GMOs?

monsanto
© another day in the empire
As you sit down to your various holiday feasts during the next week or so, maybe you ought to think about what's in your food.

Do you really know the chemicals and GMO ingredients, which the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) probably EVEN doesn't know many of them due to Monsanto's probable unreported and/or hidden 'science' not surrendered as part of the 'approval' process for either glyphosate, Roundup and Roundup Ready seeds for soy, corn, canola, alfalfa, cotton, and sorghum—with wheat under development!

It's bad enough that numerous crops are "staged" with glyphosate spraying several days before harvest, which impregnates them with glyphosate residues, and that could be a contributing factor and reason for "gluten intolerance." Genetically modifying wheat is NOT a good idea, since wheat is the Western world's grain, similar to rice being the Eastern world's grain. And "Golden Rice" hasn't been accepted very well either.

Monsanto's lobbyist, Patrick Moore, refuses to drink some Roundup after proclaiming it won't hurt you because, as he says, "I'm not an idiot!" What does it tell you about that herbicide and, especially, Monsanto's own lobbyist, who was promoting GMO Golden Rice, and their products?

NAC supplement helps PTSD better than SSRIs

vets
A new study coming out of the University of South Carolina shows extremely promising results for a new treatment for PTSD and substance abuse.

Although the new treatment is being misbranded as a pharmaceutical intervention - the substance being used is actually quite natural and has been known to many in the natural health world as a very beneficial supplement for quite some time.

N-acetylcysteine (NAC) when combined with group Cognitive Behavioral Thereapy (CBT) was demonstrated in the study to be more effective than CBT alone as well as more effective than FDA-approved SSRIs at treated PTSD cravings and depression.

The trial conducted by Dr. Peter Kalivas, Professor and Chair of the Department of Neuroscience at the Medical University of South Carolina and Dr. Sudie Back, Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at MUSC involved a group of Viet Nam veterans suffering from PTSD.

The Israeli pharmaceutical giant Teva must pay over $520 million following corruption charges made by the US Department of Justice (DOJ). The company breached the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) by bribing officials in Russia, Ukraine and Mexico.

Teva is the world's largest manufacturer of generic pharmaceutical products. According to the DOJ, its fully-owned subsidiary Teva LLC (Teva Russia) bribed a top Russian official to increase sales of the multiple sclerosis drug, Copaxone, during drug purchase auctions held by the Russian Ministry of Health.

Between 2010 and at least 2012, Teva earned an extra $200 million from Copaxone sales in Russia. The Russian official allegedly received $65 million through inflated profit margins. His name and department were not disclosed.

Overall, Teva will pay $520 million which includes the US criminal and regulatory penalties for its illegal activity in Russia, Ukraine and Mexico.

Keep moving: An active lifestyle can insulate you from a host of chronic diseases

exercise
Evidence shows that inactivity or lack of movement that is best exemplified by prolonged sitting, actively promotes dozens of chronic diseases, and these risks apply even if you're very fit.1,2 In fact, sitting for too long, too often, is an independent risk factor for ill health and reduced longevity.

Dr. James Levine is co-director of the Mayo Clinic and the Arizona State University Obesity Initiative and author of the book "Get Up! Why Your Chair Is Killing You and What You Can Do About It."

According to Levine, there are at least 10,000 published studies showing that sitting harms health, irrespective of other lifestyle habits, including an excellent exercise program.

Your Risk for Chronic Diseases Skyrocket If You're Inactive

An interactive body map published by The Conversation allows you to select a body part and/or disease to see the scientific support linking any given health problem and inactivity.3,4

For example, physical inactivity raises your risk of general ill health by 114 percent, your risk of Alzheimer's disease by 82 percent and your risk of depression by 150 percent.

Gary Taubes: The case against sugar

'Virtually zero.' That's a reasonable estimate of the probability that public health authorities in the foreseeable future will successfully curb the worldwide epidemics of obesity and diabetes, at least according to Margaret Chan, the director general of the World Health Organization (WHO) - a person who should know. Virtually zero is the likelihood, Chan said at the National Academy of Medicine's annual meeting in October, that she and her many colleagues worldwide will successfully prevent 'a bad situation' from 'getting much worse'. That Chan also described these epidemics as a 'slow-motion disaster' suggests the critical nature of the problem: 'population-wide' explosions in the prevalence of obesity along with increases in the occurrence of diabetes that frankly strain the imagination: a disease that leads to blindness, kidney failure, amputation, heart disease and premature death, and that was virtually non-existent in hospital inpatient records from the mid-19th century, now afflicts one in 11 Americans; in some populations, as many as one in two adults are diabetic.

In the midst of such a public health crisis, the obvious question to ask is why. Many reasons can be imagined for any public health failure, but we have no precedents for a failure of this magnitude. As such, the simplest explanation is that we're not targeting the right agent of disease; that our understanding of the aetiology of both obesity and diabetes is somehow flawed, perhaps tragically so.
