Action Alert: Never Leave Your Child Alone with an MD or Nurse in CA

In California Never Leave a Minor Alone with an MD

The Autism Action Network is advising all parents in California to never leave children unsupervised in the presence of a physician, physician's assistant, nurse, nurse practitioner or other medical personal permitted to administer vaccines. (Click the AAN link above to FB and Tweet this alert.)

In the wake of Governor Jerry Brown signing Assembly Bill 499, healthcare workers can give minors vaccines for sexually-transmitted diseases, including shots for HPV and hepatitis b, without a parent's knowledge or consent. And California's medical industry isn't wasting any time in taking advantage of this expansion of the increasing lucrative vaccine business.

A shocking report has come out this week of an 11-year old boy in San Diego was given an HPV shot during an visit to the office of Sandra Perez, MD, in National City without apparently getting either permission of the child or the child's guardian.

Follow this link for a news report from 10News ABC San Diego:

Even under the new law an eleven year-old is too young to receive the HPV, which may constitute medical battery under California Law. And the boy's family has filed a complaint with the California Medical Board.

Relationships between many parents and physicians are already under stress. If HMO and insurance company policies, too cozy relationships with drug sales people, and indifference to information that questions medical orthodoxy weren't already straining relationships between parents and healthcare workers, now we have to worry about them actively trying to interfere with our management of our children's healthcare and keeping knowledge of their actions from us. But the obvious conclusion, unfortunately, from these developments in California is simply to never let your child out of your sight while in a doctor's office.

Common Link Suggested Between Autism and Diabetes: Study Implicates Hyperinsulinemia in Increased Incidence of Autism

A review of the genetic and biochemical abnormalities associated with autism reveals a possible link between the widely diagnosed neurological disorder and Type 2 diabetes, another medical disorder on the rise in recent decades.

"It appears that both Type 2 diabetes and autism have a common underlying mechanism -- impaired glucose tolerance and hyperinsulinemia," said Rice University biochemist Michael Stern, author of the opinion paper, which appears online in this month's issue of Frontiers in Cellular Endocrinology.

Hyperinsulinemia, often a precursor to insulin resistance, is a condition characterized by excess levels of insulin in the bloodstream. Insulin resistance is often associated with both obesity and Type 2 diabetes.

"It will be very easy for clinicians to test my hypothesis," said Stern, professor of biochemistry and cell biology at Rice. "They could do this by putting autistic children on low-carbohydrate diets that minimize insulin secretion and see if their symptoms improve."

Babies 'should share mother's bed until age three' Because it's Good for Their Hearts

Image
New research claims babies should sleep with their mothers until they reach the age of three
Sleeping alone makes it 'harder for mother and child to bond and damages the development of the brain'

Researchers believe this lead to bad behaviour as the child grows up

Babies should sleep in their mother's bed until they are at least three years old, it was claimed last night.

The controversial advice comes from a paediatrician who found that two-day-old babies who were placed in cots slept less well than those who dozed on their mother's chest.

Their hearts were also under more stress, it was claimed.

Comment: Perhaps some of the stress experienced by children sleeping alone is evolutionary?

Friendly Bacteria Move in Mysterious Ways

Yogurt
© Van Osaka/Photononstop/Glowimages.comProbiotic yoghurts seem to have little effect on the population of bacteria in the human gut.

Many yoghurts are loaded with live bacteria, and labelled with claims that consuming these microorganisms can be good for your health. But a study published today shows that such yoghurts have only subtle effects on the bacteria already in the gut and do not replace them.

Nathan McNulty, a microbiologist at Washington University in St Louis, Missouri, recruited seven pairs of identical twins, and asked one in each pair to eat twice-daily servings of a popular yoghurt brand containing five strains of bacteria.

By sequencing bacterial DNA in the twins' stool samples, the team showed that the yoghurt microbes neither took up residence in the volunteers' guts, nor affected the make-up of the local bacterial communities.

Jeffrey Gordon, the microbiologist at Washington University who led the study, was not surprised. "We were only giving several billion bacterial cells in total to the twins, who harbour tens of trillions of gut microbes in their intestines," he says.

US: Children may be vaccinated with anthrax to test if they can survive bioterrorism attack

The Obama administration is considering whether scientists should inject healthy children with the anthrax vaccine to see if it would protect them from a bioterrorism attack.

A working group of federal advisers endorsed testing last month and the National Biodefense Science Board (NBSB) will meet on Friday to vote on its recommendation.

But critics have called the plans unethical, unnecessary and dangerous and children should only be vaccinated in the face of an actual threat.

Warning! Federal Panel Recommends HPV Shot for Boys

The CDC says that boys as young as 11 should be given the controversial STD vaccination.

A federal advisory panel is recommending that boys as young as 11 years old be given the controversial HPV vaccination shot currently given to girls to prevent cervical cancer.

CNN reports that the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted in favor of the recommendation at a meeting in Atlanta on Tuesday. Twelve members of the panel backed the measure, with one abstaining.

As the Associated Press notes, the advantages of vaccinating boys is thought to be twofold: It would protect boys against genital warts and some kinds of cancers, while also potentially curbing the spread of HPV to girls.

Comment: Warning! Big Pharma is at it again, using scare tactics and propaganda to convince the public that now boys need to be vaccinated against HPV. It would appear that organizations like the American Academy of Pediatrics have not done the research into the many side effects associated with the HPV vaccine. HPV Scientist Speaks Out:
"This is a real danger zone, " says Dr. Diane Harper.

Why might you care about what she says? Dr. Harper is one of the world's top experts on the Human Papilloma virus, HPV, which can lead to cervical cancer. In fact, she's one of the leading scientists the pharmaceutical industries turned to for help to conduct clinical trials - including those that led to approval by the US Food and Drug Administration of Gardasil - and the recommendations that followed.

According to Dr. Harper, "the vaccine has not been out long enough for us to have post marketing surveillance to really understand what all the potential side effects are going to be. We feel it is very safe." However, she adds, "We don't know yet what's going to happen when millions of doses of the vaccine have been given and to put in process a place that says you must have this vaccine, it means you must be part of a big public experiment. So we can't do that until we have more data."

Persistent Organic Pollutants Could Lead to Birth Defects in Half of All Newborns

Image

Scientists have found that the ubiquitous presence of chemicals known as persistent organic pollutants (POPs) could soon lead to half of all newborn babies being born with at least one birth defect. POPs include different pesticides, industrial chemicals, and compounds released from burning fossil fuels. A new study links these chemicals to neural tube defects, the first of its kind to examine the effects of such environmental factors on fetal development.

'This is a serious concern,' said Dr. Marvin Eastman from the Tobias environmental research center in New York City.
'According to our research, in less than two decades the exponential rate of increase of POPs around the world will soon prevent almost half of newborns worldwide from developing normally and with at least one birth defect.'

The Dark Truth About the "Wonder Drug" Millions Swear By

Image
The trials that a new drug goes through can only achieve limited testing, and, almost always, the tests used to evaluate the side effects of a drug are too short due to expediency and cost.

It is only once a drug is unleashed upon the real world, and enough time passes, that we learn how its toxic effects can manifest themselves after years of treatment.

Fortunately, the internet holds the key to answers obtained by millions of patients who have unwittingly offered themselves up as guinea pigs in the experiment of living long-term with a given drug.

Statin drugs are particularly problematic because they suppress the synthesis of a biological wonder drug, namely cholesterol.

The New Epidemic Sweeping Across America (and it's Not a Disease)

Image
Death by medicine is a 21st-century epidemic, and America's "war on drugs" is clearly directed at the wrong enemy!

Prescription drugs are now killing far more people than illegal drugs, and while most major causes of preventable deaths are declining, those from prescription drug use are increasing, an analysis of recently released data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) by the Los Angeles Times revealed.

The Times analysis of 2009 death statistics, the most recent available, showed:
  • For the first time ever in the US, more people were killed by drugs than motor vehicle accidents
  • 37,485 people died from drugs, a rate fueled by overdoses on prescription pain and anxiety medications, versus 36,284 from traffic accidents
  • Drug fatalities more than doubled among teens and young adults between 2000 and 2008, and more than tripled among people aged 50 to 69
Again, these drug-induced fatalities are not being driven by illegal street drugs; the analysis found that the most commonly abused prescription drugs like OxyContin, Vicodin, Xanax and Soma now cause more deaths than heroin and cocaine combined.

'Negative Parenting' Starts Aggressive Personalities Early

Parents who express negative emotions toward their infants, or handle them roughly, may be inadvertently harming their babies' psyches, new research suggests. This type of "negative parenting" results in aggressive, defiant kindergarteners and even affects adult behavior, the researchers said.

"Before the study, we thought it was likely the combination of difficult infant temperament and negative parenting that put parent-child pairs most at risk for conflict in the toddler period," study researcher Michael Lorber, of New York University, said in a statement. "However, our findings suggest that it was negative parenting in early infancy that mattered most."

Aggressive behavior is fairly common in toddlers, but in most cases, this drops off by the time they reach age 5. In children whose aggressive behavior does not stop, they have a pretty good chance of staying that way, Lorber said.

"Conduct problems around age 5 are probably one of the strongest predictors of anything that you care to predict for years to come, including depression, substance use, academic problems and peer rejection," Lorber told LiveScience. "They predict even aggression against one's romantic partner later in life."
