Three Sherpa climbers were navigating the Khumbu Icefall on Mount Everest when a serac on the glacier above them collapsed. According to reports in The Himalayan Times and the website Everest Chronicle, the three Sherpas climbers were buried by the avalanche on Wednesday morning and were reported missing after a series of snowstorms in the region had created unstable snow conditions.

The Mayor of Fort Lauderdale, Dean Trantalis, declared a state of emergency after flooding overnight from 12 to 13 April 2023. He said the amount of rain was unprecedented. Emergency crews received over 900 calls for assistance and worked continuously through the night to carry out rescues.

Mt. Shiveluch spewed lava and ash over Kamchatka in Russia's Far East
The Shiveluch volcano in the Russian Far East erupted on Tuesday morning local time, throwing a plume of ash up to 20km into the atmosphere. The Kamchatka authorities are monitoring the lava flow, while regional residents were told to stay inside and wear masks.
The eruption began around 1am and reached its maximum five hours later, according to local volcanologists. Plumes of hot ash rose into the sky, followed by rockfalls and lava flow from the mountain, which rises 2,500 meters above the Pacific Ocean.
An earthquake measuring 6 has shaken the seabed a few hundred kilometres off Vancouver Island.
The National Tsunami Warning Center in Alaska says a dangerous wave is not expected from the quake.
The U.S. Geological Survey website shows the quake was only lightly felt in areas ranging from Port Hardy, just over 200 kilometres from the epicentre, to Kitimat, more than 500 kilometres away.

The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) reported heavy rain and flash floods in several provinces in the north and west of Iran after heavy rain on 12 April 2023. Heavy rain and flooding have also affected areas of neighbouring Iraq.
Heavy rain began on 12 April 2023. As of 13 April IRCS reported flooding in West Azarbaijan, Kermanshah, Ilam, Qazvin and Lorestan Province. At least three people have lost their lives as a result of the flooding. Fatalities were reported in Bukan, West Azerbaijan (1), Mehran, Ilam Provine (1) and Alamut in Qazvin Province (1).
IRCS said teams have assisted over 800 people across affected areas, including rescuing several people trapped in flooded homes. IRCS teams have also assisted in clearing floodwater from dozens of homes. Around 400 people have been displaced by the floods and are staying in emergency accommodation. Some of those evacuated are in Lorestan Province where levels of the Kamandan Dam were rising, IRCS said.
