Rare snow and hail hit Al Baha region of Saudi Arabia, disrupting traffic

Vehicles stuck in Al Baha.
Some parts of Saudi Arabia, particularly the Al Baha region, were hit by unusual hail and snowfall on Monday morning.

Cumulus thunderstorms were responsible for the unusual precipitation, which resulted in the closure of several roads and disruption of traffic in the area.

Video clips shared on social media showed accumulation of hail that caused vehicles to get stuck on the closed roads.

Emergency teams from the municipality had to remove stones and hail from the roads while the city's parks turned white.

Explosions continue at Popocatepetl Volcano in Mexico. In the statement made by the Mexican National Center for Disaster Prevention (CENAPRED), it was stated that 12 new eruptions took place in Popocatepetl Volcano in the last 24 hours, and 199 gas and ash outputs were recorded.

BBC goes into Antarctica climate meltdown - but ignores data showing no loss of ice

Antarctica
The BBC recently ran a story claiming that the Antarctic ocean currents were heading for collapse, and to drive home the scare there was even a reference to the 2004 climate disaster film, The Day After Tomorrow. Rapidly melting Antarctic ice was reported to be causing a dramatic slowdown in deep ocean currents, "and could have a disastrous effect on the climate". Like most of these fanciful scare stories, "could" is doing a lot of the heavy lifting work. But alas, missing from this Net Zero-promoting, model-inventing Armageddon tall tale was a note that the Antarctica ice cap appears to be in balance, and is not actually melting.

Tornado lifts roofs and causes 'havoc' in Auckland, New Zealand two months after cyclone Gabrielle

mmmmm
Auckland, New Zealand's largest city, was hit by a tornado, leaving a trail of destruction just months after the wider region was devastated by cyclone Gabrielle and deadly flooding.

Emergency Management said it began receiving reports of "localised havoc" around Auckland and nearby areas since Sunday evening as photos and videos emerging of widespread destruction show roofs knocked off and trees uprooted.

The tornado passed through Golflands to East Tamaki, including Tamaki Heights, Flatbush and Huntington Park.

Authorities say around 70 houses were inspected and while there was physical damage, no injuries have been reported.

Lincoln County in Tennessee hit by gravity wave, a rare weather event that ripped off a roof

gravity waves
St. Louis meteorologists' best guess at what caused the damage Tuesday evening is a rare wind event.

Walt Humburg, along with his wife and his dogs, woke up Wednesday morning as the only people in Lincoln County with extensive damage to their home.

"The winds were just howling really bad," Humburg told 5 On Your Side late Tuesday night, "Then about 10, 15 minutes later it got real loud, my ears popped and the roof folded in on itself."

It was windy, but not storming and not raining. Remember the ear-popping part? We will get back to that.

Meteorologist says US government has an accurate measure of US temperature that shows no recent warming but it's hiding it

Government-controlled surface datasets, the bedrock of climate thermogeddon fears promoting Net Zero, cannot possibly be accurate, and are only "an estimate with high uncertainty". The claim comes from the noted U.S. meteorologist Anthony Watts, who has spent the last decade highlighting the numerous flaws built into global temperature monitoring systems. Data are collected by government bodies from a weather station network, "that was never intended to detect a 'global warming signal'", notes Watts. He goes on to call for a new independent global climate database. Given that governments are spending billions of taxpayer dollars on climate mitigation programmes, "doesn't it make sense to get the most important thing - the actual temperature - as accurate as possible", he asks.

To date, continues Watts, there is only one network of climate capable weather stations that is accurate enough to fully detect a climate change signal. This is the U.S. Climate Reference Network (USCRN), started in 2005 as a state-of-the-art automated system designed specifically to accurately measure climate trends at the surface. It comprises 114 stations across North America sited well away from any non-climatic effects, such as urban heat caused by humans.
