A two-headed piglet abandoned outside a Buddhist temple in China has been adopted by a kind-hearted passerby.

The pig, found outside the temple in Xinkou town, Tianjin, has three ears and is able to eat using both its mouths.

However, the weight of its heads means the poor animal is unable to stand up or walk.

New owner Yang Jinliang feeds the piglet baby formula with a bottle and claims it is able to eat from both its mouths.

The pet owner hopes to receive help from animal experts to keep the pig, which has become a local celebrity in the eastern Chinese town, alive.


In June, another two-headed pig was born in Chongqing, southwest China, but died three days later.

A waterspout which formed off Fremantle provided spectacular show of nature this morning.

The long funnel descending from the clouds could be clearly seen whipping up ocean spray close to Fremantle Harbour.

The weather bureau says the water spout was created by unstable air above warm, shallow coast water.

The wind would only need to be around 70 kilometres an hour to get the spout going.

Killer floods: At least 40 are said to have died after severe weather in North Korea
Devastating footage have been released by North Korea showing the torrential rain and flash floods that have killed 40 and driven more than 11,000 from their homes.

Homes and building have been wrecked after 250mm of rain fell last weekend.

Video broadcast by North's official news agency KCNA on Thursday showed people walking through flooded streets, farmland and a vehicle submerge in mud.

Following the downpour, authorities in neighbouring China worked with North Korean border officials to evacuate 484 Chinese tourists, according to a Chinese news website.

Hurricane Ignacio was churning across the Pacific on Friday on a path that could take it past Hawaii in coming days, with a second, more powerful storm trailing in its wake, the National Hurricane Center said.

Though the track of Ignacio remains uncertain, the Category 1 hurricane, at the low end of the five-step Saffir-Simpson scale of intensity, was heading northwest and "continues to get closer to Hawaii", the government forecaster said.

Ignacio was centered about 720 miles (1,160 km) east of Hilo and 935 miles (1,500 km) east of Honolulu on Friday evening. It was packing maximum sustained winds of 90 miles per hour (150 kph).

A coastal storm watch could be issued for the Hawaiian islands early on Saturday, the center said.

Lava erupts from Hawaii's Kilauea volcano

One of the world's most active volcanoes began erupting again on Hawaii's Big Island Thursday morning, sending a thick ribbon of lava from its summit down into the forests nearby.

The lava lake at the summit of Kilauea Volcano, located within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park near the southern end of the island, was still active Friday, according to officials with the U.S. Geological Survey office that monitors the volcano.

The volcano's lava flow posed no threat to surrounding communities at this time, they added, "but [they] are being monitored closely," as some of the lava flows "are marked by smoke plumes where lava is creeping into the forest."

Comment: The number of volcanoes erupting right now is greater than the 20th century's YEARLY average! Other signs of increased volcanic activity recently include:
  • Huge columns of ash being spewed form the Cotopaxi volcano in Ecuador and Mexico's Colima volcano.
  • A series of avalanches on Mount Ruapehu, New Zealand, with vulcanology expert Harry Keys stating "I've been up the crater lake a lot and I don't remember ever seeing so many avalanches in the crater."
  • Reunion Island volcano in the Indian ocean erupting again.

Whale found on the shores of Moree
A whale has been found dead and washed ashore today, August 27, 2015 in Moree, the Central Region of Ghana.

The whale, which is not common to be found dead in Ghana, was seen at the seashore by the fishermen and arrangement is underway to pull it out from the sea.

The cause of death of the whale is not yet known, but fishermen in the area are seen chanting fisher folk songs as they try to pull off the dead whale from the sea.

In September 2013, a whale was washed up on the coast of Nkontompo near Sekondi in the Western Region.

However, another whale also appeared in the communities of Asanta and Kikam (Western Region) and other areas in the Greater Accra Region.

Rare Pygmy whale washes up on a beach in Victoria, Australia

It is unknown whether the young pygmy right whale found stranded was dependent of its mother
A rare whale has been found dead and washed up on Apollo Beach, on the west coast of Victoria on Wednesday.

The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning's senior biodiversity officer Mandy Watson told Daily Mail Australia that the pygmy whale carcass was 2.6 meters and probably weighed in at 500 kilograms.

'There's not a lot of evidence that suggests any struggle.... it's very likely that the whale died at sea and washed up,' officer Watson said.

The whale's carcass has been sent to researchers to determine its cause of death, which officer Watson said will take weeks.

'There's very little known about them, they're not endangered but very cryptic', Officer Watson said.

She indicated that they are not sure when it died or if it was independent of its mother.

A Kiwi is in hospital after an angry orang-utan bit him on the knee at a sanctuary in Indonesia.

New Zealander Binula Wickramarachchi, 27, was attacked by an agitated ape while trekking through the national park of Sumatra Orangutan Observation Centre.

The attack happened after one of the orang-utans swung down from a tree as Mr Wickramarachchi's tour group passed by, the Daily Mail reported.

Manager of the Sumatra Orangutan Observation Centre, Riswan Bangun, told the Jakarta Post that Mr Wickramarachchi was treated at the Colombia Hospital in Medan.

Lightning strikes kill 5 in South Darfur, Sudan

Six people were struck by lightning in a thunderstorm in South Darfur on Tuesday. Five died, while a fifth is in hospital with serious burns.

"Three of the victims were walking along the road between Bulbul Timbisko and Nyala [capital of South Darfur]", a listener told Radio Dabanga.

He said that three others, all members of the same family, were struck as they sheltered against the heavy rain under a tree in the area of Um Dafug.

"Two of them died instantly and the third sustained heavy burns. He was taken to the Um Dafug Hospital."

Tropical Storm Erika: At least 25 dead, widespread floods in Dominica

At least 25 people have been killed by Tropical Storm Erika on the small island of Dominica, officials told local media Friday morning.

The Ministry of Public Works told Trinidad and Tobago TV station CCN TV6 that the death toll has risen above two dozen after the storm left severe flooding and triggered mudslides on Thursday.

"Erika has really, really visited us with a vengeance," Claude Weeks, assistance police superintendent, told the Associated Press during a phone interview. Because many roads and bridges are impassable, crews are trying to reach isolated communities via the ocean, he added.

Among those confirmed dead were a blind elderly man and two children in southeastern Dominica, and another man was killed in the country's capital of Roseau, the report said.
