The final Republican presidential debate before primary voters in 11 states cast their ballots on Super Tuesday dissolved into an unseemly brawl in which candidates competed with each other to be the loudest and sling the most insults at each other.

With an avalanche of putdowns, zingers and crass insults, Senators Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio tag-teamed on Donald Trump to question his conservative values and his character, with Trump returning the favor in the Republican debate held Thursday in Houston, Texas.

When Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia died 12 days ago at a West Texas ranch, he was among high-ranking members of an exclusive fraternity for hunters called the International Order of St. Hubertus, an Austrian society that dates back to the 1600s.

After Scalia's death Feb. 13, the names of the 35 other guests at the remote resort, along with details about Scalia's connection to the hunters, have remained largely unknown. A review of public records shows that some of the men who were with Scalia at the ranch are connected through the International Order of St. Hubertus, whose members gathered at least once before at the same ranch for a celebratory weekend.

Members of the worldwide, male-only society wear dark-green robesemblazoned with a large cross and the motto "Deum Diligite Animalia Diligentes," which means "Honoring God by honoring His creatures," according to the group's website. Some hold titles, such as Grand Master, Prior and Knight Grand Officer. The Order's name is in honor of Hubert, the patron saint of hunters and fishermen.

... The society's U.S. chapter launched in 1966 at the famous Bohemian Club in San Francisco, which is associated with the all-male Bohemian Grove — one of the most well-known secret societies in the country.

Comment: A pity Scalia won't be around to experience the fruits of his labor as things collapse in the U.S. Ah, well, there's probably a special place in the afterlife for him.

GOP family values: Illinois wants to remove financial aid from single mothers and their children

A new bill proposed by Illinois Republicans would strip single mothers and their children of financial aid. The draft law makes no excuse for rape victims who decide not to abort, but excludes in vitro mothers.

Currently in committee, the bill proposed by two GOP members, John Cavaletto and Keith Wheeler, would deny newborns birth certificates if their mothers will not or cannot provide the name of a biological father.

"Absent DNA evidence or a family member's name, a birth certificate will not be issued and the mother will be ineligible for financial aid from the State for support of the child," the bill reads.

The bill would also take away the state's financial support for a child born to a single mother if she fails to provide the name of the biological father or bring DNA test results identifying him within 30 days.

Comment: The Republican party bills itself as the 'pro-life' party, but that's about as far as it goes. Their concern for the well-being of children or the victims of rape is virtually nil. They are much more intent on making sure there are adequate funds to support the Pentagon's exportation of 'freedom and democracy', much to the horror of others around the globe.

Municipal disaster: Massive explosion occurs at waste treatment plant in Belgium

A large explosion has hit a waste treatment plant in the Belgian port of Antwerp. Local fire services have described the incident as a "municipal disaster" and asked the locals to keep doors and windows shut.

The blast occurred in a storage bunker at an industrial waste treatment plant belonging to the Indaver company on Friday. Photos from social media networks show dark clouds of smoke curling upwards.

On February 20th, the anti-Russian propaganda site Newsweek headlined "How We Can Defeat Putin" and presented an essay from Evelyn Farkas, of the NATO-generated Atlantic Council, but didn't indicate her being controlled by the same people who control NATO (the US aristocracy). (Newsweek hid her connection to NATO - gave no indication of it.)

NATO is run by the North Atlantic Council, and its main PR agencies are the Atlantic Council and the Atlantic Treaty Association, both of which receive funding from international corporations. The head of the Atlantic Council is billionaire Jon M. Huntsman Jr., the former US Presidential candidate, and a member of the Bilderberg organization, which was founded in 1954 to engineer a takeover of national governments' regulatory abilities and a replacement of national economic regulations by international economic treaties, which will supersede any national authority and will not be answerable to any voters except the controlling stockholders in international corporations. (Bilderberger David Rockefeller then created the Trilateral Commission in 1974, to extend the globally controlling aristocracy to include also Japanese aristocrats, and Huntsman is also a member of that Bilderberg spin-off: he's a member of the Trilateral Commission's ruling Executive Committee.)

Russia is making consequent its decision last fall to ban the commercial planting of Genetically Modified Organisms or GMO in its agriculture acreage. The latest decision, effective February 15, 2016 does not at all please Monsanto or the US Grain Cartel.

On February 15, a Russian national import ban on soybeans and corn imports from the United States took effect. The Russian food safety regulator Rosselkhoznadzor announced that the ban was because of GMO and of microbial contamination and the absence of effective US controls on soybean and corn exports to prevent export of quarantinable grains, also known as microbial contamination. The Russian food safety regulator added that corn imported from the US is often infected with dry rot of maize. In addition, he said, corn can be used for GMO crops in Russia. The potential damage from import and spread of quarantinable objects on the territory of Russia is estimated at $126 -189 million annually.

Striking the heart of the GMO cartel

The Russian decision is a huge blow to USA agribusiness. For decades, the US grain cartel companies - ADM, Cargill, Bunge - have dominated the global trade in soybeans and corn, the most widely used animal feed for cattle, pigs, chickens because of its high protein content.

The Russian president harshly criticized food production in the United States, stating that Western food producers are no longer offering high quality, healthy, and ecologically clean food.
"We are not only able to feed ourselves taking into account our lands, water resources - Russia is able to become the largest world supplier of healthy, ecologically clean and high-quality food which the Western producers have long lost, especially given the fact that demand for such products in the world market is steadily growing," Putin said in his address.

Starting this week, owners of unregistered drones could face fines up to $250,000 and a possibility of up to three years in prison.

It has been estimated that there could be hundreds of thousands of drone owners who have still not registered their devices.

FAA Administrator Michael Huerta said in a statement that, "Simply put, registration is all about safety. It provides us with a key opportunity to educate the new generation of airspace users that as soon as they start flying outside, they're pilots."

Gaza farmers have lost 187 hectares of crops to aerial spraying of herbicides by Israel hundreds of meters within the territory's borders. The action, carried out in the name of 'security', further undermines Gaza's ability to feed itself and may permanently deprive farmers of their livelihoods. It may also represent a war crime under the 1977 Protocol to the Geneva Conventions.

Palestinian farmers in the Gaza Strip have reported that Israeli military planes had sprayed their land with herbicides on three days last December.

The spraying, conducted by crop-dusting aircraft, covered areas up to 200 meters west of the border fence between the Gaza Strip and Israel.

Moreover, due to the prevailing winds at the time of the spraying, extensive damage was also caused to crops and farmland a further 200 meters further inside the Gaza Strip.

Some 13 percent of all migrants who officially entered Germany in 2015 never turned up at the accommodation provided for them, Süddeutsche Zeitung reported Thursday. The news comes as Berlin tightens laws on asylum seekers. The newspaper's report is based on Germany's Federal Interior Ministry's official response to a request filed by the Left Party. The ministry provided two explanations for the phenomenon: the refugees either continued their journey to another European country or choose to live illegally within Germany.

Germany has welcomed an estimated 1.1 million refugees in 2015, mostly from the Middle East and Northern Africa, of which about a half are either without official documents or have disappeared. According to Frank-Jürgen Weise, the head of Germany's Federal Office for Migration (BAMF), there are as many as 400,000 asylum seekers within the country who have no ID documents and German authorities have proven unable to identify them, the head of the BAMF agency said in Berlin on Thursday.

Last year, Berlin was unable to expel all illegal aliens to the country responsible for them, which according to the Dublin Regulation is the EU state a refugee first entered. Only one in 10 asylum seekers was returned to the country from which they entered [into] Germany, and in 2014 it was one in five refugees. The reluctance of other European states to take back the refugees is understandable: Greece alone has witnessed a 21-fold growth in immigrants in one year.

Comment: While no country in Europe was adequately prepared for the rapid rising influx of refugees and asylum seekers, losing track of such a mass of people seems 'off' in this day of spy cams and facial recognition gizmos. Must be some other explanation than the two offered.
