Lying cops exposed after video shows them severely injure man by sadistically tasering him in the back

Man tasered
Carlos Seals was harming no one and being entirely compliant when Richmond County deputies deployed a taser into his back causing him to fall backward and hit his head. Seals was severely injured during the fall and was forced top pay for his own medical treatment after deputies lied and said he deserved it.

According to the initial police report, deputies claimed Seals was being combative and would not comply. While Seals admitted to using profanity, the video shows he was not at all combative.

According to the police report, one of the deputies deployed his stun gun, but it didn't connect. It goes on to say that Seals is still combative so the deputy writes he reached for his stun gun and it connected. However, this was simply not true.

This attack happened on Aug. 30, 2015, and Seals has yet to receive a single penny for his more than $20,000 in medical expenses.

Henry Giroux on a United States at war with itself: "We no longer live in a democracy"

Henry Giroux
© Jared Rodriguez / TruthoutTo transform our society into a democracy, we first have to dismantle the myth of democracy as currently defined.
"Too many people today accept the notion that their fate is solely a matter of individual responsibility, irrespective of wider structural forces," writes cultural critic and theorist Henry A. Giroux, in his new book, America at War with Itself. "This much promoted ideology, favored by the rich, suggests that human relations boil down to competition and combat. People today are expected to inhabit a set of economic relations in which the only obligation is to fight for one's own self-interest." This troubling trend is not only profoundly anti-democratic, but also works to eliminate structural, systemic and social concerns from public discourse, creating what Giroux has described as "organized powerlessness."

In the following interview, Giroux - a professor for scholarship in the public interest at McMaster University and a member of Truthout's board - explains the background to the war metaphor and deconstructs its everyday use in the US. Finally, he evokes a politics of possibility which begins by making visible the linkages among a vast array of issues that undermine democracy.

Comment: Update: Budapest explosion: Attempted homicide against police officers, manhunt underway - prosecutor
The explosion that left two officers injured in Budapest late Saturday specifically targeted police forces, Hungary's national police chief, Karoly Papp, said at a press conference. He added that the man behind the blast is still at large.

Papp told Hungarian media that he has "no doubt" that police officers were explicit targets of the Saturday blast, adding that the alleged perpetrator was planning to "execute" the officers.

At the same time, the police chief did not confirm that the explosion was somehow related to terrorist activities, but stressed that all possible motives are still being considered at the current stage of the investigation.

Papp also said that police have been patrolling the area where the explosion occurred for the past 18 months. The route and the timing of the foot patrol were set, and the officers who were caught in the blast were not in the area merely by accident or out of coincidence.

The police chief also said that there was no proof that a specific police officer was targeted in the attack.

Police are now examining the footage from 145 CCTV cameras, Papp said, adding that several hundreds of police officers are also engaged in the manhunt for the suspected attacker. The police are offering 10 million forints ($37,000) for any information that leads to the arrest of the perpetrator.

According to police, the alleged perpetrator is a man in his early to mid-twenties and is approximately 170 centimeters tall. He was wearing a light-colored fisherman's hat, a dark jacket, blue jeans and running shoes. No photo or composite sketch of the suspect have been released so far.

The attacker detonated an improvised explosive device filled with nails on the ground floor of a store at the corner of Kiraly Utca (King Street) as police officers were passing by late on Saturday. A female officer sustained life-threatening injuries and remains in intensive care.

A male officer was also severely injured but is now in stable condition, Hungarian media report.

Tulsa, Oklahoma is currently caught up in a struggle over racism and police brutality against people of color. With the shooting death of Terence Crutcher by police happening just a few months after Officer Robert Bates in Tulsa was sentenced to four years in prison for "mistaking" his gun for a Taser and shooting Eric Harris dead as he ran from police, tensions have reached a boiling point.

Less than a year ago, an Oklahoma mayor's husband was caught on film participating in a KKK ceremony that he insists was just a Halloween prank. Although Mayor Teresa Sharp of Lahoma, Oklahoma insisted that the stunt was just part of a Halloween costume, a burning cross in the background of the white-robed, hooded, torch-carrying men discounted those explanations.

When asked during the interview if he considers himself French, Depardieu told Corriere della Sera today: 'No, I'm a citizen of the world.

'France is likely to become a Disneyland for foreigners, populated by imbeciles making wine and stinky cheese for tourists.

'There is no more freedom, people are being manipulated.'

Depardieu also took a swing at the film industry saying, 'cinema doesn't exist any more.

'There is a world of entertainment and people, terrorised by the Americans, don't know any more which language to speak.'

'There are 10 stars and they are all American. 'Their films are crammed with special effects... and the rest of the world of cinema is struggling to exist,' he added during the interview on the occasion of the release in Italy of his autobiography Innocent.

Meanwhile, Ramzi was shot in both of his legs during a detention raid in the camp in the beginning of August, and he remained in a "difficult" medical condition as of Thursday as he was being held in Israel's Ofer military prison.

Local sources added that since the boy was shot, he has had to undergo six surgeries due to his injuries.
