At least six Iraqi soldiers have suffered inhalation problems following a chemical attack launched by Islamic State on Sunday. This is the second time in two days that the terrorists have used chemical agents to push back government forces in Mosul.

The chemical attack on Sunday occurred in a recently-liberated area of Mosul, where the Federal Police and Rapid Response forces are advancing towards the old city which is still roaming with Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) jihadists.

The spokesman for the Joint Operation Command in Iraq, Brigadier General Yahya Rasool, told the Associated Press that six soldiers suffered "breathing problems" from the attack.

The family of the man fatally shot in a video that appeared to be a Facebook Live broadcast says several fake GoFundMe pages have been set up claiming to raise money in aid of the victim.

The daughter of Robert Godwin Sr. told FOX8 the family has not set up any accounts and that no other party has been authorized to do so. Police have been notified of more than 30 accounts on the funding site claiming to raise money for the family.

Godwin was shot and killed in Cleveland, with the murder captured in a video that at first appeared to be a Facebook Live broadcast by Steve Stephens, identified by police as the suspect.

Police are continuing a manhunt for Stephens, who claimed to have killed 14 other people and promised more murders.

Hundreds of imprisoned Palestinians start massive hunger strike in Israel

Inspired by imprisoned Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti, up to 2,000 Palestinian prisoners have reportedly gone on a hunger strike, demanding improved prison conditions, including visits, medical treatment, and education.

From 700 to 2,000 or more inmates of Israeli prisons reportedly declared a hunger strike on Monday. The day also marks 'Palestinian Prisoners' Day,' an annual event held in support of Palestinian political prisoners.

According to Israeli media, the strike was called for by Marwan Barghouti, who was sentenced to five life sentences for five murders plus 40 years for attempted murder. Barghouti has remained politically active behind bars and still is a high-profile leader of the Palestinian Fatah Party, with some even considering him as successor to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The inmates' demands, issued by the incarcerated Fatah leader, include the installation of public telephones and television, restoration of bimonthly visits and academic studies, as well as an easing of visit conditions and duration. They are also calling for an end to solitary confinement and administrative detention.

Police say false reports of gunshots being fired at Coney Island's amusement park set off a stampede, with screaming crowds racing in all directions.

The chaos Sunday on the Brooklyn waterfront came two days after reports of a gun going off at Manhattan's Penn Station produced similar panic.

On Sunday, authorities used social media to reassure people on Coney Island that no shots had been fired.

28 people shot in less than 18 hours in Chicago, Illinois

In the pouring rain, the 23-year-old man pulled a fur-lined hood over his head and stood on the porch of his younger brother's home in the Douglas Park neighborhood early Sunday, watching police investigate the city's first homicide of the weekend.

The man said he heard people arguing and throwing bottles at each other about 2:30 a.m. before the shots rang out. He said he went to check on what was happening three doors down but then stopped, retreated back.

"When I noticed the commotion, I headed the other direction," he said, as he was getting ready to go to work as a truck driver. "There's a reason for the rain. Only God knew this was going to happen."

The fatal shooting of Tywan Anderson, 23, in the 1300 block of South Fairfield Avenue, half a block north of Mount Sinai Hospital, marked the only fatality among 28 people who were shot from Saturday to Sunday morning, officials said. Of the people shot, three were teenagers — ages 14, 15 and 17.

Facebook shuts down pro Marine Le Pen posts as French election nears

social media squid
Well, sure. Wouldn't you? The woman is running for the presidency of France. She wants to reverse the tide of immigration in her country, so she must be a racist, and whatever she says or whatever anyone else says in support of her is, automatically, fake news, mindless, evil, and the population must be protected from that infection. This is how free speech works. It's free unless it could do harm, unless certain minds might be taken in by it, and apparently Facebook is stepping up to the plate. Mark Zuckerberg is long overdue for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Zero Hedge: "The first round of French elections will be held on April 23rd, prompting Facebook to shut down pro Le Pen accounts, which they deem to be 'fake'."

"In addition to outright bans, the company [Facebook], in conjunction with French media, are running 'fact checking' programs — designed to fight 'fake news', heightening their efforts around the elections — which spans from 4/23-5/7."

Comment: The author is being facetious of course, but in doing so drives home the point that 'social proof' of the public's feelings on things is being stifled to detriment of all.

Acid-attack in London club burns 12 people

London acid attack
A London Fire Brigade spokesman confirmed that acid was thrown in the club in east London.
London has seen a sharp rise in acid attacks in London in recent years. There have been more than 1,800 reports of attacks involving corrosive fluids in London since 2010.

About one dozen patrons at a bar in east London suffered burns caused by what is believed to be a noxious substance inside the venue.

A hazardous response team along with other emergency services were called to the scene in the early hours of Monday morning. A London Fire Brigade spokesman informed AFP that an "unknown corrosive substance" was thrown in Mangle, a club in east London. The substance has been identified as "an acidic substance" from testing, he said, adding that there were around 600 people in the venue at the time of the incident.

London primary school takes children on day out to 'meet extremist Islamic preacher'

Children from a London primary school spent a two-day school trip with an imam described by a British High Court as supportive of "extremist Islamic positions."

Aged between six to eight, the children from Kilmorie Primary School met with Shakeel Begg to discuss Islam at the Lewisham Islamic Centre on March 21 and 22.

Begg gained notoriety as the imam of the mosque attended by the killers of British army soldier Lee Rigby in 2013.

Comment: In 2016 Begg sued the BBC for libel after being labeled an extremist. However, after reviewing the content of his speeches, a UK judge found that Begg displayed a pathological 'Jekyll and Hyde' character who presented one face - tolerant and pious - to the public, while privately preaching extremist views.

Cleveland police are continuing a manhunt for a suspect who shot and killed an elderly man during a Facebook Live broadcast. Although the suspect claimed to have killed 14 more people while promising more murders, police have so far failed to find any additional victims.

"Suspect did broadcast the killing on Facebook Live and has claimed to have committed multiple other homicides which are yet to be verified," Cleveland Police confirmed in a statement published online.

During a news conference held several hours after the incident, Cleveland Police Chief Calvin D. Williams confirmed that both county and federal law enforcement had joined the manhunt operation to find Stephens.

Chief Williams stated that there had been no official sightings of the suspect since the shooting, and police could therefore not confirm whether Stephens was still in the Cleveland vicinity.
