One of the city's bloodiest in decades, Chicago killings on pace to exceed 2016

Chicago murder scene
With 74 people killed in July alone, Chicago has reached more than 400 homicides for the year so far, a number that keeps the city on track to outpace 2016, one of the bloodiest years recorded in decades.

According to Chicago police, there have been 402 murders in the city so far this year, though the department's statistics don't include killings on area expressways, police-involved shootings, self-defense killings or death investigations.

Last month saw 74 murders, 321 shootings and 410 shooting victims, police announced Tuesday.

William Shatner slams SJWs: 'Snowflakes stand for inequality' and 'misandry'

William Shatner
William Shatner, the actor who famously portrayed Captain James Kirk in the original 1960s run of Star Trek spoke out against his progressive critics, claiming that SJWs "stand for inequality" while defending his use of terms like "snowflake" and "misandry" - a phenomenon that angry feminists insist has been extinguished in modern society.

Shatner, a Canadian citizen who's publicly empathized with the far-right and President Donald Trump, has repeatedly feuded with Trekkies who feel that he has turned away from the show's culturally-progressive message (Star Trek made television history by broadcasting television's first interracial kiss, between Shatner and castmate Nichelle Nichols). The actor often calls out examples of what he considers to be unwarranted attacks on men.

"In the end, they managed to seize the escort's weapons, but one of the officers was able to call in reinforcement from the National Guard," she told TASS.

'Obscene' child sex doll rise in UK allows cops to catch pedophiles lurking in Britain

Churchwarden David Turner

A former primary school governor has been found guilty of importing an "obscene" life-sized child sex doll into Britain. A surge in seizures of such dolls by border officials has led investigators to identify previously-unknown suspected pedophiles.

Churchwarden David Turner, 72, of Ramsgate, Kent, also admitted to possessing more than 34,000 images of child abuse. Some contained images of children as young as three.

Although he admitted importing and having sex with the 3ft 10in (117cm) doll - which is anatomically detailed and correct - he asked a judge for a 'trial of issue' to decide whether being in possession of a child sex doll was "indecent" or "obscene" in law.

Marijuana grows leaving more Colorado homes filled with mold

David and Christine Lynn paid $398,000 for a home in rural Douglas County before discovering that the previous occupants had diverted an electrical line to avoid paying the high cost of power needed to turn the residence into a marijuana grow house.

"They called the electric company and found out the wattage for that house had been huge for the previous two years," said Rolf von Merveldt, a lawyer who is handling the lawsuit they filed against the previous owner.

Things got worse from there. They found thousands of square feet of mold beneath rugs and drywall in the basement, and a subsequent inspection determined that walls that had absorbed the pungent smell of pot had been covered with Kilz, a primer that can block odors.

Mold in some parts of the home covered drywall from the floor to ceiling, suggesting that the moisture causing it didn't come from outside the home, von Merveldt said.

CDC reports: Nearly half of all murdered women are killed by romantic partners

A new CDC report suggests that domestic violence is a major cause of death for women.

Over half of the killings of American women are related to intimate partner violence, with the vast majority of the victims dying at the hands of a current or former romantic partner, according to a new report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention today.

The CDC analyzed the murders of women in 18 states from 2003 to 2014, finding a total of 10,018 deaths. Of those, 55 percent were intimate partner violence-related, meaning they occurred at the hands of a former or current partner or the partner's family or friends. In 93 percent of those cases, the culprit was a current or former romantic partner. The report also bucks the strangers-in-dark-alleys narrative common to televised crime dramas: Strangers perpetrated just 16 percent of all female homicides, fewer than acquaintances and just slightly more than parents.

Transhumanism's faithful follow it blindly towards a future dominated by elite 'values'

transhumanism
Distant Earth
The rapid development of so-called NBIC technologies - nanotechnology, biotechnology, information technology and cognitive science - are giving rise to possibilities that have long been the domain of science fiction. Disease, ageing and even death are all human realities that these technologies seek to end.

They may enable us to enjoy greater "morphological freedom" - we could take on new forms through prosthetics or genetic engineering. Or advance our cognitive capacities. We could use brain-computer interfaces to link us to advanced artificial intelligence (AI).

Nanobots could roam our bloodstream to monitor our health and enhance our emotional propensities for joy, love or other emotions. Advances in one area often raise new possibilities in others, and this "convergence" may bring about radical changes to our world in the near-future.

"Transhumanism" is the idea that humans should transcend their current natural state and limitations through the use of technology - that we should embrace self-directed human evolution. If the history of technological progress can be seen as humankind's attempt to tame nature to better serve its needs, transhumanism is the logical continuation: the revision of humankind's nature to better serve its fantasies.

In its latest coverage of 'clashes' New York Times predictably omits Israel's calls for ethnic cleansing of Palestinians

Israeli occupation forces

A New York Times headline on 24 July is representative of why there is continued American ignorance regarding Palestinian efforts to secure their freedom.

"Mosque crisis and Jordan attack raise fears of escalating violence in Israel," it declares.

Written by Isabel Kershner, the text places the violence "in and around East Jerusalem." Yet the headline tells a false story, since, as the UN Security Council recently affirmed, East Jerusalem is part of the West Bank territory Israel occupied in 1967 - and therefore not part of an expanded Israel.

A New York Times news quiz takes a similar approach, referring in its headline to "Israel violence" - rather than "West Bank violence." The quiz itself poses this question: "Deadly violence erupted in and around Jerusalem and in the West Bank on Friday when Israel placed metal detectors at entrances to what sacred site?"

Community policing: Cop responds to complaint of kids playing football by joining in

Buffalo police play with neighborhood kids
In the land of the free, playing football in your neighborhood street can be a criminal act which can often be met with police force. Kids in a Buffalo neighborhood were about to experience what playing football looks like in a police state - that is, until Officer Patrick McDonald showed up to the call.

Time and again, we've seen children held at gunpoint for walking home from a basketball game or assaulted for riding a bike. However, this story is different and it shows what a positive effect a compassionate officer can have when he uses his officer's discretion while policing.

"I joined them for a couple of downs, and as you can see it's taken on a life of its own," McDonald said about the video which has since gone viral after being posted on social media this week.

"I'd just like to think that any other officer would have done the same thing that I did, and I bet there's others who probably have," he added.
