Most Germans consider climate change a much greater cause for concern than such headline-grabbing issues as terrorism or the refugee crisis, a recent poll has showed.

Climate change surprisingly emerged as Germany's greatest fear as 71 percent of respondents designated it as a particular source of serious personal concern, the poll conducted by the Kantar Emnid opinion research center on commission from the German Funke Media Group revealed.

The future state of the environment left behind such pressing issues as the threat of terrorist attacks or the possibility of new wars, which were identified as reasons for unease by 63 and 65 percent of respondents respectively.

The suspect was arraigned on first-degree murder charges at the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court.

The body of a missing Jewish woman from the Binyamin region of the West Bank was found by police last week after her Arab boyfriend confessed to strangling her and bashing her head with rocks in Holon to "release Palestinian prisoners."

Police first received a report that Michal Halimi, 29, who was pregnant and married to another man, was missing at the end of May and launched an investigation to find her. A gag order, lifted Wednesday, was implemented for the duration of the search.

A US court has ruled that a US citizen who spent more than three years in federal immigration custody can not sue, because his false imprisonment claim was "untimely." The Jamaican-American was also denied the $82,500 settlement he previously won.

In a 2-1 vote on Monday, the Second US Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Davino Watson, a US citizen held in a New York detention center for 1,273 days, could not sue for damages.

"There is no doubt that the government botched the investigation into Watson's assertion of citizenship, and that as a result a US citizen was held for years in immigration detention and was nearly deported," Circuit Judge Dennis Jacobs wrote in the majority opinion. "Nonetheless, we must conclude that Watson is not entitled to damages from the government."

A Wisconsin company has implanted microchips into its employees at a symbolic 'chip party', a first for the US. Now the 'chipped' employees can open doors, login to computers, use copy machines and even buy chocolate bars with a wave of their hands.

Three Square Market used this 'upgrading' technology on its employees on Tuesday. The procedure, which included implanting a Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) microchip between the thumb and forefinger underneath the skin, was voluntary.

At least 41 of the 85 employees received the devices, at the company's HQ in the city of River Falls, AP cited the group.

A dozen federal prosecutors will be sent to cities ravaged by the opioid epidemic to investigate health care fraud and opioid scams fueling the drug abuse epidemic, Attorney General Jeff Sessions has announced.

"In recent years some of the government officials in our country I think have mistakenly sent mixed message about the harmfulness of drugs," Sessions said at the Columbus Police Academy in Ohio on Wednesday, according to AP. "So let me say: We cannot capitulate intellectually or morally unto this kind of rampant drug abuse. We must create a culture that's hostile to drug abuse."

Details of the CIA's Dumbo project, a system that manipulates devices such as webcams and microphones on Microsoft Windows-operating systems, have been published by WikiLeaks. The program also corrupts video recordings, according to the leaked documents.

The whistleblowing organization released the files as part of its Vault 7 series on the CIA's hacking capabilities.

According to Wikileaks, the technology is intended for use where the deployment of a special branch within the CIA's Center for Cyber Intelligence could be compromised.

Dumbo can identify, control and manipulate monitoring and detection systems on a target computer running the Microsoft Windows operating system, according to the documents.

More Russian gas is being pumped through OPAL, the European pipeline that connects Gazprom's Nord Stream to Germany and the Czech Republic. This comes as Russia seeks to cut gas transit through Ukraine.

On August 1, Russian energy major Gazprom won an auction to use OPAL's free capacity. The next day, the pipeline saw an increase in gas transit from 56 million cubic meters (mcm) to 71.5 mcm per day, Vedomosti daily reports, quoting OPAL Gastransport data.

Gas transit from Ukraine dropped from 161 mcm on Tuesday to 147.6 mcm on Wednesday before stabilizing at 155.1 mcm by Wednesday evening.

Patreon CEO Jack Conte profits big-time from the pornography on his crowdfunding website, despite claiming Tuesday that the material is against Patreon's philosophy.

On "The Rubin Report" hosted by Dave Rubin, Conte said he didn't want his crowdfunding platform to become known for hosting porn.

"If you want to do it elsewhere, fine," said Conte. "But you can't do it on Patreon."

Google and social media searches immediately reveal Patreon is indeed in the pornography distribution business-with several Patreon "creators" GotNews identified openly marketing their "porn."

Treating an acid attack: Doctors issue first aid advice after 400 incidents in 6 months in the UK

Doctors have issued advice for witnesses of acid attacks, which can play a crucial role in saving victims' lives or limiting the extent of their injuries.

Up to 400 offences were reported to police in the six months to April.

In response to the wave of attacks, professionals from the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM) and Barts Health NHS Trust have issued advice for bystanders.

Witnesses can play a vital role in minimizing the effects of scarring and the need for surgical reconstruction with immediate first aid treatment.

"Already 2017 has seen a big increase in acid attacks in the UK, relative to 2016," the trio of medics wrote in the British Medical Journal (BMJ).

"Whereas in the past most of the attacks were related to robberies, corrosive substances now seem to be a replacement for carrying knives."

A Catholic priest in the Philippines was caught by police allegedly driving a 13-year-old girl to a motel to have sex after paying her 16-year-old pimp.

Monsignor Arnel Lagarejo was arrested Friday in a joint operation by Marikina police and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) after the victim's mother contacted authorities.

The priest, president of Cainta Catholic College and parish priest of St. John The Baptist, faces charges of violating the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003.

Eastern Police District Director Chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula said Lagarejos found the 16-year-old pimp on social media, reports PhilStar.

The Diocese of Antipolo issued a statement noting the seriousness of the incident and expressing its willingness to cooperate with investigating authorities. It confirmed that Lagarejos has been relieved of all of his duties in the diocese.
