Most wasteful govt agency: The NHA

NHA housing
© STL Real Estate News$723,000 for this?
The Navajo Housing Authority has a long and storied history of waste, fraud, and abuse of federal funds.

The Navajo Housing Authority (NHA) brags on its website that it is "the largest Indian housing authority in the country", managing 8,500 housing units across Navajo nation in the southwestern American states of Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico. The NHA is also probably the most wasteful and scandal-ridden governmental entity in the United States today.

Multiple media reports, governmental audits, and one investigation by the Office of Senator John McCain (R - Ariz.) describe an agency that has received over $1.6 billion from the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) program, while delivering projects over-budget, years-delayed, or unfinished.

According the NHA's 2011 estimates, the authority needs to build some 34,000 homes and significantly repair another 34,000 to address the Navajo reservation's chronic housing problems, something it says will cost nearly $9 billion.

Since 1998, NHA has received an average of $95.6 million a year from HUD to address these needs. Over the past decade, NHA has spent $803 million of program funds, and built 1,010 housing units in that time.

That works out to about $723,000 for each new housing unit, or about the median home price in ultra-expensive Seattle. The median home price on the Navajo reservation community of Keyenta, Arizona is $67,000.

Comment: The laws and stipulations regarding Native American tribal land have complicated the development necessary to provide the Indian nations with much-needed housing. It has also opened the door to government agencies such as NHA and its multi-million dollar scam.

Twisted statistics: How the unemployment rate dropped last month despite the US losing 33K jobs

US Non-farm payroll Aug 2017, Us employment statistics
This morning's September jobs data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) does not actually capture the extent of the economic misery in the U.S. mainland last month. The data showed a stunning loss of 33,000 jobs (the first time the U.S. has had a negative figure since 2010) while simultaneously reporting that the unemployment rate dipped to 4.2 percent from 4.4 percent in August.

But here's the quirky thing about how the U.S. government's counts people as being employed: according to the official web site of the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics, an individual can be counted as employed even if they didn't receive a dime in salary during the week the data is collected. The BLS explains its rationale as follows: (Italic emphasis added.)

Comment: The American empire is in rapid decline - this statistical sleight of hand simply allows the elites to maintain a fantasy that the gullible masses will remain so, but that time is long past.

Submarine owner accused of killing Swedish journalist kept snuff videos in his workshop - UPDATE: Body parts of journalist found

Submarine UC3 Nautilus
© Jens Noergaard Larsen / Scanpix Denmark / AFPThe Submarine UC3 Nautilus is lifted onto a block truck from the salvage ship Vina with the help of a container crane in Copenhagen's Harbor, on August 12, 2017.
The man accused of killing a Swedish journalist on a submarine in Copenhagen stored violent torture and murder videos of women on his workshop computer, prosecutors claim.

Peter Madsen, a Danish inventor, is suspected of the murder and mutilation of 30-year-old journalist Kim Wall in August. He maintains that Wall died accidentally when a 70kg submarine hatch fell on her, before he disposed of her body in the sea.

On Tuesday, a judge extended the police detention of Madsen while the investigation into Wall's death continues.

The decision came after special prosecutor Jakob Buch-Japsen cited DNA findings and the discovery of violent snuff videos on a computer in Madsen's Copenhagen spacelab as strengthening the case against the inventor.

"I think it's quite clear that the suspicion has significantly strengthened," Buch-Jepsen told the court.

Comment: (UPDATE - Oct. 7) Danish police have found missing parts of Kim Wall's dismembered body. Her head and legs were found at sea in weighted bags, along with her missing clothes. Madsen insists her body was intact when he threw it overboard, but the presence of torture and mutilation videos on his hard drive make his numerous denials harder to believe. Additionally, the recovered head contradicts Madsen's version of events:
There is "no sign of fracture on the skull and there isn't any sign of other blunt violence to the skull," he said, citing an autopsy carried out overnight.

Locating Wall's head has been a priority for investigators, as the final autopsy on the torso was not able to establish the cause of death.

However, it did show multiple mutilation wounds to Wall's genitals.
...
Jensen said the divers on Friday found the clothes and body parts in bags weighed down with metal pieces. Her torso had also been weighed down when it was found, also in Koge Bay.

"Yesterday morning we found a bag within which we found Kim Wall's clothes, underwear, stockings, and shoes. In the same bag laid a knife, and there were some lead pipes to weigh the bag down," he said.

"Around dinnertime we found one leg, and then another leg. And then we found a head that also laid in a bag, and was weighed down with multiple metal pieces."

Jensen said police would continue to search for her arms.

Link to Japanese tourist?

Police have previously said they were re-examining the unresolved case of a Japanese tourist whose mutilated body was found in a Copenhagen harbour in 1986, to see if there was any possible link to the Wall case.

Kazuko Toyonaga, a 22-year-old student, was on vacation in Europe when she disappeared. Her legs were found in a plastic bag floating in the waters off Islands Brygge, a harbour in Copenhagen.

Wall worked as a freelance journalist based in New York and China, and her articles were published in The Guardian, The New York Times and others.

At the time of her disappearance, she was believed to be working on a feature story about Madsen, an eccentric, well-known figure in Denmark.

Madsen has successfully launched rockets with the aim of developing private space travel.

His homemade submarine Nautilus, launched in 2008, was the biggest private sub ever made when he built it with help from a group of volunteers.

Media experts say targeting RT with 'foreign agent' law betrays First Amendment

The pressure on Russian news agencies in the US, including the recent demand for RT to be registered as a 'foreign agent,' is an act of censorship that betrays some of the country's founding principles, media experts told RT.

According to Lionel, a legal and media analyst, the campaign against RT has disturbing implications for the government's power to strangle the free press.

"What's happening here in my beloved republic, the home of the First Amendment, freedom of the press, we have private agencies censoring like you could not believe," he said.

"Now technically speaking, the First Amendment can only be violated by the government - federal government, state government, local government. But what's happening here is, if you have a governmental entity forcing a private entity to limit speech, the question is, is that government entanglement? Is that indeed a subversive way for the government to come in and to stifle free speech?"

Sheriff and deputies indicted for sexual battery, false imprisonment after illegal search conducted on high school students

student search
In June, violated children and furious parents filed a massive lawsuit after the Worth County Sheriff's office conducted an illegal search of 900 students, sexually abusing multiple children in the process. Now, after nearly half a year, a grand jury has finally indicted the people responsible for this heinous deprivation of rights.

A south Georgia grand jury indicted Worth County Sheriff Jeff Hobby on Tuesday for sexual battery, false imprisonment and violation of oath of office after he ordered a school-wide search of hundreds of high school students. Deputies allegedly touched girls vaginas and breasts and groped boys in their groin area during the search at the Worth County High School April 14, reports RARE.

Two of Hobby's deputies were also indicted this week in connection with the case.

Norman Crowe Jr., Hobby's attorney claims the sheriff is innocent and conducted no searches.

"The sheriff's position is that he's not guilty," Crowe said. "He's committed no crime."

A traditional healer in South Africa has been sentenced to life for ordering the murder and beheading of an Indian mother-of-one, whose head he planned to use in his rituals.

34-year-old Sibonakaliso Mbili, a shaman from the coastal KwaZulu-Natal province, promised four youths two million rand ($153,000) to bring him the head of a white, mixed-race or Indian woman, also saying it would be easy to get a sex worker's head, the High Court in Durban heard.

The teenagers lured 39-year old prostitute Desiree Murugan to a sports field outside Durban in 2014, after reportedly paying her 100 rand for sex. Horrifying details reveal she was stabbed over 190 times before three of the teens cut off her head, and took it to Mbili. The healer then chopped Murugan's head into little pieces and buried them around his yard, the court heard.

There has so far been no confirmation of the attack from Saudi authorities.

The US Embassy in Saudi Arabia has issued a security warning to American citizens in Jeddah over the reported attack.

"Due to the possibility of ongoing police activity, American citizens are advised to exercise caution when traveling through the area," the embassy said in a statement.

Pedophilia network: Cops busted raping and filming cadets to make child porn

Cops busted raping and filming cadets
Officers Kenneth Betts and Brandon Wood, formerly with the Louisville Police Department, may have been able to fly under the radar of the mainstream media until now. But with recent court document revelations presented in court this week, their alleged pedophilia practices have come to the surface and even captured on video. And, once again, the crimes involve a police cadet program and accused pedophile cops.

The two police officers allegedly raped a teenage boy, both in their car and in a residence, and filmed the crime for the purposes of producing pornography. Betts and Wood were police officer mentors in the Youth Explorer Program for kids who want to one day become law enforcement officers. It was inside the mentorship program that they are accused of finding their victims.
