A Tennessee restaurant owner is refusing to back down after becoming a target of the left's angry abuse.

The severe backlash after Tom Courtney hosted an event for U.S. Senate candidate Rep. Marsha Blackburn shocked the independent Mt. Juliet restaurant owner who plans to take action in response, but in contrast, like a mature adult.

Democrats decry calling out protesters as an "angry mob" but that's exactly what Blackburn, who is vying for the open U.S. Senate seat against former Democratic Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen, said in her note of thanks to the owner of Courtney's Restaurant and Catering.

Kanye's real success: Trump now supports criminal justice reform, reducing sentences and sending fewer to prison

Trump and Kanye West
Kanye West's literal embrace of President Trump was all over the news last week. The president's rhetorical embrace of criminal justice reform got considerably less attention, but may prove more consequential.

In an interview with Fox News on the morning of his meeting with the rap impresario, Trump signaled that he was ready to go beyond "back-end" reform, which focuses on rehabilitation of inmates, and support "front-end" reform, which focuses on reducing sentences and sending fewer people to prison.

The key to understanding Trump's remarks is Alice Marie Johnson, whose sentence the president commuted in June at the behest of West's wife, Kim Kardashian.

Johnson, a first-time offender who received a life sentence in 1996 for participating in a Memphis cocaine-trafficking organization, has described herself as "a telephone mule, passing messages between the distributors and sellers." While serving nearly 22 years in federal prison, she became a grandmother and great-grandmother, an ordained minister and a mentor to other inmates.

Although it took the intercession of a fellow reality TV star for Trump to free Johnson, he clearly was impressed by her story. More important, he recognizes that Johnson, whom he calls "the most incredible woman," is not unique in receiving an absurdly disproportionate sentence for a nonviolent crime.

Comment: Kanye West's insightful statements are ignored in favor of mockery, derision

US Navy Captain Heather Cole has been charged with criminal conspiracy after failing to disclose her active-duty military status while negotiating over half a million dollars in defense contracts with her own company.

Cole pleaded not guilty before court martial and is set to go to trial in December on charges of criminal conspiracy linked to the activities of her Oklahoma-based manufacturing firm, Worksaver Material Handling Equipment Company. At issue are five Marine Corps contracts, one Air Force deal, and two Defense Logistics Agency orders her company secured between 2002 and 2013.

Charge sheets obtained by the Navy Times allege she was aided by two civilian co-conspirators, whose names are redacted. She is also charged with lying to a Navy legal officer, having allegedly claimed to be a non-participating partner in Worksaver, said she had a waiver to do business with the federal government, and claimed she never did business with the Navy. Beyond that, she is accused of "misusing" US Government aircraft as well as her military communication system and equipment.

Swedish orchestra performance ends in brawl over chewing gum

The Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra saw its recent performance in Malmö, Sweden, end in a brawl last week after the continued rustling of a chewing gum package left a concertgoer fuming with rage.

The fracas began in the Malmö Live concert hall's second balcony, moments after Latvian conductor Andris Nelsons began the adagietto sequence of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No.5, according to website The Local Sweden.

With the sounds of crinkling paper bouncing off the walls during the fourth movement, a young man decided he'd had enough of a woman's attempts to open a new packet of gum, ultimately slapping the treat away from her. For the remaining 70 minutes of the show, the woman reportedly sat in silence - likely plotting her next move.

Oh, did she plot.

USS Ronald Reagan
The most disaster-prone US fleet has suffered another incident after a MH-60 Seahawk helicopter crashed on the flight deck of the USS 'Ronald Reagan' shortly after takeoff at 9am, the Navy confirmed on Friday.

According to the Navy, the injured personnel are "in stable conditions" and none of the injuries is life-threatening. Some of the servicemen were evacuated ashore.

The crash happened as the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier was conducting regular operations in the Philippine Sea.

Despite the incident, the ship remains "fully mission capable" and continued flight operations.

The Navy has launched an official probe into the crash.

Comment: The problems within the US Navy are longstanding with no course corrective measures apparently implemented, yet the US continues to bait Russia and China whose militaries are far more effective and battle ready...disaster in the making.

Tourists continue lounging as dead bodies lie a few feet away on Mexico beach

dead bodies Caleta Beach
It's a stunning resort town once frequented by the rich and famous, but these days it's become the scene of unimaginable horror time and time again.

The latest incident saw two men murdered on Caleta Beach in Mexico's Acapulco region, but such scenes of bloodshed are becoming so mundane that tourists barely batted an eyelid.

Sure, some beachgoers initially ran for their lives when the gunshots rang out, but it wasn't long before they went on with their leisure activities. Some were even filmed dining at a beachside restaurant while the bodies lay just feet away, with the bizarre scenes caught on camera by local site El Sol de Acapulco.

The footage shows the crime scene being cordoned off by investigators with tourists seen relaxing in the background.

South African city to begin confiscating privately owned land from white citizens in national test case

South African farm
Local authorities in the South African city of Ekurhuleni are set to begin expropriating privately owned land, without paying for it, as part of a national test case for the country's controversial land reform program.

The city council approved an "expropriation without compensation" bill that had been pushed by ruling African National Congress (ANC) earlier this year, the Associated Press reports.

Nearly 600,000 of the four million people living in the city are reportedly stuck in an awful housing crisis due to the shortage of lands for building new homes. The land crunch is forcing people to stay in "informal settlements."

"Our policy is not to take the land by force," Ekurhuleni's Executive Mayor Mzwandile Masina told the agency. "Our policy is to make sure the land is shared amongst those that need it."

A man who posed with Emmanuel Macron in a viral 'middle finger' pic has been caught in possession of drugs, effectively snubbing the French president's advice to turn his life around.

Reaulf Flemming, better known as Raul, was arrested for drug possession and resisting arrest when searched by police on the Caribbean island of Saint-Martin on Sunday, according to local reports.

He met Macron during the president's 2017 trip to see reconstruction efforts on the island in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

While visiting one of the houses being built, Macron was filmed talking to a bare-chested Raul, who admitted that he used "to be a robber" and was recently released from prison.
