Study finds 8% of Germans approve of dictatorship as form of government

Under certain "circumstances," some 8 percent of Germans are OK with a dictatorship as a form of government, while even more would welcome a leader ruling Germany with "a strong hand," research has found.

While the majority of the country surely bears no nostalgic feelings about such forms of governance, a new study suggests some are not against the idea. A report compiled in cooperation with two major think tanks found that as many as 7.9 percent of Germans believe that dictatorship would serve national interests better than anything else "under certain circumstances." Some 18.6 percent were described as latent supporters of the idea.

Dictatorship basically comes with a cult of personality, and this is where eleven percent of respondents said there should be a leader "who rules Germany with a strong hand for the good of all."

The survey shows slightly a similar ratio in questions targeting other sensitivities of the country's past. Some eight percent said "Nazism had its own positive sides" while slightly more agreed that Hitler could have become "a great statesman" if he did not unleash the Holocaust.

Comment: You'll probably find similar numbers in any nation. As Lobaczewski observes in Political Ponerology, the number of people supporting a totalitarian system usually number in the single-digits to mid-teens, with more tacit support ranging from the teens to low-twenties. Germany seems fairly normal in that regard.

America's people are ignorant of what real freedom is

american flag waving
Too many Americans don't really know what our rights and freedoms mean.

Americans are suffering from a knowledge gap about what American freedom is about, and it's one of the most important underlying factors in what divides Americans today.

If you are immersed in the 24/7 news cycle, you can't help but reflect on the wide and wild political divide in America. Just as surely, as a reasonable American, you are asking reasonable questions: Why can't people just live and let live? What's with all of the agitation, the mindless street theater and street violence, the harassment of people in restaurants and in their homes?

Why would a member of Congress (Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters) actually rile up crowds to engage in more such harassment? Why do some people seem to prefer eternal hostility over talking to one another? Why is an uncorroborated accusation, or politically incorrect view, or an incorrect pronoun enough to get someone fired or expelled, even jailed? What's going on? Don't people want to get along?

Liberals more likely to use social media to promote political ideologies than other groups

Many Americans have been politically active on social media, from encouraging others to take action to using issue-related hashtags. And liberal Democrats were more likely than other ideological and partisan groups to have engaged in these activities, according to a new Pew Research Center analysis of survey data collected this summer.

Liberal Democrats are especially likely to use social media to mobilize others or find like-minded groups. Some 44% of liberal Democrats say they have used these sites in the past year to encourage others to take action on an issue that was important to them, while a similar share (43%) have taken part in a group that shares their interest in a cause, according to a survey of U.S. adults conducted May 29-June 11, 2018. These shares fall to around a third or fewer among conservative or moderate Democrats and among conservative, moderate or liberal Republicans.

Comment: This finding isn't surprising and goes to show how the liberal echo chamber is strengthened through the availability heuristic and availability cascade.

At this point, why not? Trans-age 69yo Dutch man wants to identify as 49yo to get more jobs, Tinder dates

Emile Ratelband
© CENEmile Ratelband says he doesn't get any messages when he lists his real age on Tinder
A single pensioner has launched a legal battle to change his age so he can go back to work and meet more women on Tinder.

Emile Ratelband, 69, wants to be recognised as a 49-year-old because he feels 20 years younger, but his application was refused by his local authority.

Comment: Obviously a human rights violation...

He argues that if transgender people are legally allowed to change sex, he should be allowed to give himself a new birth date because doctors told him he has the body of a 45-year-old.

Comment: Well, he's kind of right.

The entrepreneur and self-help guru, from the Netherlands, is suing his local authority after they refused to amend his age on official documents.

Mr Ratelband's case has now gone to a court in the city of Arnhmen in the eastern Dutch provice of Gelderland.

He was born on March 11, 1949, but says he feels at least 20 years younger and wants to change his birth date to March 11, 1969.

Age of entitlement: Transgender 'woman' files human rights complaints against estheticians for refusing to wax his genitals

Sixteen Canadian women have had human rights complaints filed against them by a male-to-female transgender individual for alleged "gender identity" discrimination after they refused to wax his male genitalia.

John Carpay, a lawyer and the president of the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms, is representing two of the women who are being targeted by the complainant, who is referred to only as "JY." In accordance with an order from the BC Human Rights Tribunal, the transgender individual must be kept anonymous.

"In recent months, JY approached 16 Vancouver-area female estheticians who only serve women, requesting a 'Brazilian' bikini wax on his groin area," revealed Carpay on Tuesday. "In spite of the fact that JY is able to obtain a Manzilian in Vancouver, JY has filed 16 complaints against these women at the BC Human Rights Tribunal, claiming discrimination on the basis of 'gender identity.'"

The female estheticians in question only serve women and do not offer so-called "Manzilians" - the male equivalent to a Brazilian wax. "The procedure for providing a man with a 'Manzilian' is quite different, using a different kind of wax and a different technique," noted the lawyer.

Comment: This is ridiculous for so many reasons. Note that the women's defense is based on the fact that Manzilians have different techniques and materials from Brazilians. In other words, the women can claim they are not qualified to give a Manzilian. Isn't that beside the point? Women have the right not to handle a man's genitals if they don't want to. Or at least, they should, which is probably why so many estheticians offer woman-only procedures. But in the age of diversity and inclusivity, that is a crime, apparently.

A Norwegian Navy frigate returning from a NATO exercise collided with an oil tanker off Norway's coast. Eight people received light injuries in the incident while the warship started slowly sinking.

The early morning collision, which involved the frigate KNM Helge Ingstad and the tanker Sola TS, happened off Norway's western coast near an island chain on which the municipality of Øygarden is located.

Unlike the warship, the tanker, which carries around 625,000 barrels of crude, was mostly undamaged in the incident and no signs of an oil spill were reported. The ship was still ordered to return to port for inspection.

The frigate, which reportedly received a long tear in the hull's starboard side, started to take on water and listed dangerously. A tank of helicopter fuel was damaged and leaked some of its content, local media say. The crew of 137 was ordered to abandon ship, which was moved closer to land to prevent it from capsizing.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the leading liberal-leaning member of the US Supreme Court, has been taken to hospital on Thursday morning. She fell in her office on the previous night.

According to the Supreme Court's Public Information Office, the 85-year-old fractured three ribs on her left side during the fall.

She is being treated at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C.

The incident, relating to the health of a member of the top court in America, may fuel fears among the blue political camp that the Trump administration would be able to appoint yet another conservative justice and potentially overturn previous decisions on issues like abortion.

11 children, some as young as 12 were found inside a refrigerated container on a lorry entering the UK. The group of 21, who are thought to be from Vietnam, were discovered at Newhaven's port in East Sussex, on Thursday.

The group was reportedly discovered following a tip-off from a member of the public, Border Force officers searched the vehicle, finding 21 people who, according to the Home Office, 'presented themselves as Vietnamese.'

11 of them were confirmed to be minors, the remaining 10 adults were interviewed by immigration officers. Two were subsequently deported, the rest - all thought to be in their 20s - will now be under Home Office supervision while their immigration cases progress.

The group was concealed within a shipment of sparkling water that was being transported by a Romanian national, who has been charged with assisting unlawful entry into the UK.

The suspect, named as 29-year-old Andrut Mihai Duma, is being held in custody. He is expected to appear at a hearing at Lewes Crown Court on November 26. The case is being headed by the Immigration Enforcement, a Home Office division responsible for policing human trafficking, among other remits.

The group's discovery follows that of 31 people - including children under the age of five - who were found in the back of a lorry in Portsmouth in September.

'They were threatening me and my family': Tucker Carlson's home targeted by protesters

Fox News host Tucker Carlson was at his desk Wednesday evening, less than two hours before his 8 p.m. live show, when he suddenly started receiving multiple text messages.

There was some sort of commotion happening outside his home in Northwest D.C.

"I called my wife," Carlson told The Washington Post in a phone interview. "She had been in the kitchen alone getting ready to go to dinner and she heard pounding on the front door and screaming. ... Someone started throwing himself against the front door and actually cracked the front door."

Comment: The far left continues to escalate things to absurd levels. It's not enough to call people they disagree with politically Nazis and fascists, or even accost them in public, now the new norm is to harass people at their homes. Things are getting really crazy out there!
