Anti-Trump Lincoln Project co-founder says past tweets shouldn't define him, then cans employee for offensive messages a day later

The Lincoln Project, an anti-Donald Trump organization founded by Republicans, has fired its video editor Ben Howe for years-old tweets using female anatomy as an insult - despite one of its co-founders engaging in similar antics.

"Based on these unacceptable and offensive posts, and those that came to light last week, Ben Howe is no longer affiliated with the Lincoln Project, effective immediately," Keith Edwards, a spokesman for the group, said in a statement on Tuesday.

The tweets in question were emailed to the organization by the 19th News, a non-profit media outlet, and had been highlighted by other groups within the last week.

The old posts included some by Howe, who previously worked for conservative blog RedState, calling critics a "tw*t" or "vagina" - and sometimes using more offensive language.

"I want to be a feminist but every time I call someone a c**t I get yelled at," another tweet from 2018 read.

TV host Nick Cannon is facing accusations of antisemitism and racism following a bizarre and now-viral interview in which he claims white people are "a little less" and black people are who Jewish people "want to be."

During the discussion with former Public Enemy member Richard Griffin (who left the group after saying the "Jews are wicked" in a 1989 interview), Cannon, who hosts the 'Masked Singer,' claimed it is impossible for him to be antisemitic.

"It's never hate speech, you can't be anti-Semitic when we are the Semitic people," he said. "When we are the same people who they want to be. That's our birthright." He later insisted again that he is not promoting "hate speech."

The true face of the organised Black Lives Matter movement reared its head during a protest in London this past weekend, as a protest leader called for an end to capitalism, and the creation of a "black militia" to foment a revolution.

In video obtained by Breitbart News, protesters are seen in marxist paramilitary garb, complete with berets, with the ringleader barking proclamations about how racism "thrives on capitalism".

Amid chants of "take it to the streets... fuck the police" and "no justice, no peace", the activist claimed that "The police is no different from the KKK. They stand around and protect statues and buildings instead of people."

In a further bizarre declaration the woman also decreed that "They need to join the local council and litter pick too."

France's national holiday has been marred by scuffles between police and protesters, as thousands of people took to the streets of Paris to demonstrate against public health support measures they deemed insufficient.

Streets in the center of the French capital once again descended into chaos as police officers in riot gear clashed with groups of angry protesters while France was celebrating Bastille Day.

Videos posted on social media showed officers wearing helmets and body armor using tear gas and pepper-spraying crowds in a tense standoff. The protesters were seen throwing various objects at the police.

Britain faces a potentially more deadly second wave of COVID-19 in the coming winter that could kill up to 120,000 people over nine months in a worst-case scenario, health experts said on Tuesday.

With COVID-19 more likely to spread in winter as people spend more time together in enclosed spaces, a second wave of the pandemic "could be more serious than the one we've just been through," said Stephen Holgate, a professor and co-lead author of a report by Britain's Academy of Medical Sciences (AMS).

"This is not a prediction, but it is a possibility," Holgate told an online briefing. "Deaths could be higher with a new wave of COVID-19 this winter, but the risk of this happening could be reduced if we take action immediately."

Shoppers were allowed to return to the high street in June as stores began to reopen in England and Northern Ireland, but figures show that few chose to do so. Retail footfall collapsed by 65% compared with the same month last year, according to research by data company Springboard.

The latest figures are an improvement on the 73% year-on-year decline in May, but highlight the challenges facing retailers and hospitality companies as they try to encourage worried customers to return as the coronavirus lockdown eases. At the same time online shopping has soared, as consumers browse and order from the comfort and safety of their home.


Comment: Obviously online shopping went up, but it's unlikely it compensated the economic losses caused by the lockdown, this will become even more apparent as the delayed effects begin to bite.


Retailers have cut thousands of jobs in response to the drop in high street, mall and retail park shopping. Last week, John Lewis and Boots cut 5,300 jobs in total and announced permanent store closures.

In their quest to change Western culture, Black Lives Matter and 'Woke Twitter' are redefining racism to weaponize the charge against anyone they choose. It's a dishonest tactic that lets them get away with their own bigotry.

Racism is an evil thing. People who are branded with that title are given a massive scarlet letter, and are generally cast out of civil society. Rightfully so, as no one wants to interact with someone who is so malicious towards someone else's skin color. Individuals like Jared Taylor or Richard Spencer are not tolerated (unless they're commentating for CNN I suppose).

One of the above words needs to be stressed: it's 'malicious'. As it has been understood for as far as I can remember, racism requires malice. This is why the term 'hate group' was first coined. Groups such as the Ku Klux Klan, the Aryan Brotherhood, or other white nationalists or white supremacists are considered 'hateful' because that is their modus operandi. They outright despise anyone who isn't like they are.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a long-awaited law streamlining the process for foreigners to obtain Russian citizenship. The world's largest country hopes to attract up to 10 million migrants by 2025.

According to the new rules, it is now much more straightforward for certain types of foreigners to become Russian.

Foreign citizens who have a Russian parent, are married to a Russian, or have a child with a Russian citizen, can now quickly obtain a passport themselves. The acquisition of Russian nationality has also been streamlined for foreigners who reside permanently in the country.

The NBA is once again being accused of bowing to China, after a viral video revealed its website does not allow custom jerseys with the phrase "Free Hong Kong," but has no problem with plenty of other disruptive messages.

"The NBA bans you, the fan, from putting #freehongkong on customized league jerseys even as they allow players to wear customized jerseys," journalist Clay Travis tweeted on Sunday.

Travis Included a video actually showing the merchandising section of the website rejecting the phrase. Numerous people took to social media to give other firsthand accounts of the site not allowing the message.
