The Tennessee Senate passed a bill on Wednesday that would require intoxicated drivers convicted of vehicular homicide to pay child support if the victim of the offense was the parent of a minor child.

According to CBS 46, the legislation passed unanimously. It had been amended to include the names of the children of Nicholas Galinger, a Chattanooga police officer who was killed by a drunk driver while on duty in February 2019. HB 1834, also known as "Ethan's, Hailey's, and Bentley's Law," had already passed in the state's House but has not been signed into law.

A summary of the legislation states that "if a defendant is convicted of vehicular homicide due to intoxication or aggravated vehicular homicide and the victim of the offense was the parent of a minor child," then the sentencing court must make the defendant pay "restitution in the form of child maintenance to each of the victim's children."

Svitolina demands Russians answer 3 questions to avoid tennis ban

Elina Svitolina claimed that 'silence is betrayal'

Ukrainian star Elina Svitolina has called on the world tennis authorities to demand that Russian and Belarusian players give guarantees that they do not support the leadership of their respective countries before being allowed to compete.

Svitolina, 27, issued her demands on Wednesday - the same day that Wimbledon announced that it would be banning Russian and Belarusian stars from this year's tournament because of the conflict in Ukraine.
"We noticed that some Russian and Belarusian players at some point vaguely mentioned the war, but never clearly stating that Russia and Belarus started it on the territory of Ukraine," said Svitolina in a message shared on Twitter.

Comment: The level of anti-Russian indoctrination and hysteria is absolutely unbelievable. People are oppressed and literally forced to publicly speak against Russia if they want to continue with their lives normally.

The last two terrible years it was all about the "dangerous" Covid virus and the "health benefits" from massive experimental and dangerous mRNA vaccination program, now the focus is on Russia.

It all comes from the same evil center of power of the psychopathic so called "elites".

Nationwide protest in Pakistan in support of Imran Khan is the largest rally in the history of Peshawar

This, of course, follows the largest single-day nationwide protests in Pakistan last Sunday.

I hope our friends in Western alternative media will be so gracious (and self-correcting) to permit us all to put to rest now, the idea that these demonstrators are limited to the 'educated' and 'urban middle class', disconnected from the rest of Pakistan. And just by the way, I'm not sure why these labels are deployed so disapprovingly - especially by progressive Pakistani pundits who inhabit that same social class.

Almost half of Pakistanis are 'urban' by this point, which would obviously make them an important support base. And it's quite bizarre why the term 'educated' is used either pejoratively or to associate it exclusively with the 'middle class.' A majority of Pakistanis from the lower classes are educated (but don't necessarily have the 'cultural capital' or patronage networks of those above them to get good jobs), and a significant chunk of our upper classes have never felt the need for formal education.

American Zelensky critic Gonzalo Lira goes missing in Ukraine

Gonzalo Lira
© Substack/The Good CitizenAn American citizen has gone missing in Ukraine, and the western media is silent simply because he had the wrong views of Zelensky and the war.
Unconfirmed accounts claim blogger Gonzalo Lira was abducted by a unit linked to the neo-Nazi Azov Battalion

Chilean-American blogger Gonzalo Lira was last heard from in Ukraine almost a week ago. He was reporting from the city of Kharkov and has been a critic of President Volodymyr Zelensky and of Kiev's conduct during the conflict.

The Chilean foreign ministry said that it was aware that "those close to the Chilean Gonzalo Lira Lopez, who was in the Ukrainian city of Kharkov," had lost contact with him since April 15. According to the diplomats, they remained in touch "with the relevant entities, to stay informed regarding any news about the location of [our] compatriot."

Lira, a Chilean-American author and movie maker who used to work in Hollywood, was to appear on former UK MP George Galloway's radio show Mother of All Talk Shows (MOATS) on Sunday, but ended up missing the program.

Comment: Scott de Groat writes in his substack:
From watching all the videos that Lira has put out, he was clearly against the official narrative Zelensky and the corporate media have been peddling about the Russia invasion as a whole and in no way could I find he was pro Putin as well. He was simply reporting what he was seeing on the ground and this was not ok with the powers that be. You can see below Lira was well aware of the danger he was putting himself in with the knowledge he was sharing.

This is where the Daily Beast comes into focus. "Journalists" Mark Hay writes a 4200 word plus hit piece on Lira comparing him to Russian shills and spreading "conspiracy theories" like the Ukraine Biolabs story. The moment I see excerpts like this about the biolabs red flags immediately go up because everyone knows, who's paying attention, the lab story is very real. This is basically one gigantic hit piece to smear Lira.

This is where the story takes a turn. The twitter account @Anabel_Villeroy writes,
Daily Beast "journo" Mark Hay @GoraLadka doxxed Gonzalo Lira by creating a hit piece and "gave" it to the Ukrainian government under the guise of "request for comment." One look at his primary beat and he can "hardly be described as a political heavyweight in journalism..."
The Daily Beast used the "reach out for comment" practice as a proxy to hand over their information on Lira and his location to the government of Ukraine which then you have to consider, this same information ended in the SBU's hands as well. Do you see how dangerous this is? A screenshot of the communications between Daily Beast and Lira is provided below.

The other connection that we have with the Daily Beast is Michael John Cirillo now known as Sarah Ashton-Cirillo who is a trans pro-Ukraine journalist.

An article titled " This Undercover Operative Says She Recruited the Proud Boys for the GOP" written on June 3, 2021 talks how she infiltrated far right group Proud Boys and tie them to a Vegas-based GOP consultant.

"In the months leading up to the 2020 election, Sarah Ashton-Cirillo, a self-described progressive activist, embedded herself in GOP circles as part of her research for a book on right-wing extremism. What she found was a Republican consultant desperate to team the Proud Boys up with the Nevada GOP in order to challenge ballots and flip the presidential election."

Sounds like a fed-boi/ informant to me.

Why does this matter? Cirillo is boots on the ground in Ukraine as we speak and she was celebrating the supposed capture of Lira.
"Ms." Cirillo is a charmer in "her" own right, apparently also gunning for independent journalist Patrick Lancaster.

From the point of view of us as farm animals, it is all the same

In case you have not noticed, I have been in a bit of a funk lately. The big interdependent trifecta of censorship, state and corporatist-sponsored propaganda, and the role of "Davos Man" in the emerging new world order have been weighing heavy on my mind. Or maybe it's just that I have been traveling too much, seen and heard too many things, and been the recipient of chronic targeted defamation for too long. Or perhaps I am just homesick for my quiet centered life with my wife Jill, our horses and fruit trees, and our modest Virginia farm/horticultural park. Or all the above.

What has really been eating away at my soul, like some kind of Dementor from JK Rowling's darkest imaginings, is that we have allowed the billionaires to take over our world, and we have yet to come to terms with the consequences. The party of Davos, with its public facing mask behind the benign name of the World Economic Forum (WEF). What are the practical consequences for how both ourselves and our children will live their lives?

British mercenaries captured by Russia ask to be exchanged for banned Ukrainian opposition party leader feared tortured by Kiev forces

Shaun Pinner, Aiden Aslin

The families of Shaun Pinner and Aiden Aslin have said the men are not mercenaries or volunteer fighters and should therefore be treated as prisoners of war in accordance with the Geneva Convention.

Two British fighters captured by Moscow's forces in Ukraine have appeared on Russian state TV and asked to be exchanged for pro-Russian politician Viktor Medvedchuk.

It was unclear how freely the two men - Shaun Pinner and Aiden Aslin - were able to talk.

Both spoke separately after being prompted by an unidentified man in footage broadcast on the Rossiya 24 state TV channel.

Comment: RT provides more details on the Medvedchuk case:
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has published a video in which detained Ukrainian opposition leader Viktor Medvedchuk asks Russia's and Ukraine's presidents to swap him for the "defenders and residents" of Mariupol.

"I, Medvedchuk Viktor Vladimirovich, want to ask Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the Ukrainian side exchange me for the defenders and residents of Mariupol, who are there today and are unable to safely get out through humanitarian corridors," says Medvedchuk in the video.

Medvedchuk, a lawmaker and leader of Ukraine's second-largest party, 'Opposition Platform - For Life', was detained by the SBU on April 12 after being charged with treason, as his party was recently banned by Zelensky for "collaborating with Russia."

After his arrest, Ukraine's interior minister adviser, Vadim Denisenko, suggested Medvedchuk be "swiftly tried, given a prison term, beaten into providing certain testimony and then exchanged," - a statement that was blasted by a number of Russian officials.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova mocked the suggested plan for Medvedchuk's prosecution, saying, "It's a British scheme: Hold a swift trial, give a prison term, and then extract testimonies. Works every time." She warned that Kiev's idea of exchanging Ukrainian opposition politicians with Russia was a "very dangerous tendency" as there are a lot of opposition-leaning politicians and public figures in Ukraine.

Moscow commented on the idea of swapping a Ukrainian opposition leader for any of Kiev's soldiers captured during the ongoing offensive, with Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov arguing that Medvedchuk was not a Russian citizen, had nothing to do with Russia's military operation in Ukraine and might not even want Russia to play any role in his fate.

Dmitry Medvedev, the deputy chair of the Russian national security council, responded to the Ukrainian interior ministry adviser's suggestion by saying that people supporting such ideas "should pay attention to their surroundings and keep the door locked for the night not to get added to the list of individuals eligible for a prisoner swap themselves."

Meanwhile, Oksana Marchenko, Medvedchuk's spouse and a Ukrainian actress, has been pleading with several world leaders to help save her husband, stating in a press conference on Friday that she still has no information about her husband's whereabouts and raising concerns that he is being tortured by the SBU.

"On one of the photos there are no signs of trauma, but on another picture you can clearly see bruises and hematomas which they tried to cover up with hair. This means that the pictures were taken before and during the interrogation. There is no doubt that he was being beaten up during the first hours of his detention," she said.

She has been asking to make every possible effort to release her husband, insisting that she does not believe in a fair process for her husband and that the trial against him is a "vivid example of unlawful reprisal against an undesirable politician for his consistent, principled and open position."

Marchenko has issued public addresses to Zelensky, Putin, Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, asking to exchange her husband for two British mercenaries who were reportedly captured in Mariupol last week, and has stated that her husband "gave his consent to be exchanged and transferred to the territory of the Russian Federation if the Russian and Ukrainian sides reach the relevant agreements."

The two captured mercenaries - Shaun Pinner and Aiden Aslin - have recently appeared on Russian state TV and have asked Boris Johnson to do what he could to exchange them for Medvedchuk.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has expressed hope that Boris Johnson will give a prompt response to Marchenko's proposal, while the Kremlin stated on Monday that it has no comments at the moment, telling journalists that, "If there is a reaction from the president, we will inform you about it."

Russia attacked the neighboring state in late February, following Ukraine's failure to implement the terms of the Minsk agreements, first signed in 2014, and Moscow's eventual recognition of the Donbass republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. The German and French brokered protocols were designed to give the breakaway regions special status within the Ukrainian state.

The Kremlin has since demanded that Ukraine officially declare itself a neutral country that will never join the US-led NATO military bloc. Kiev insists the Russian offensive was completely unprovoked and has denied claims it was planning to retake the two republics by force.

Question

What happened to Gonzalo Lira?

American in Ukraine missing for a week and feared dead.
Gonzalo Lira
© Substack/The Good CitizenAn American citizen has gone missing in Ukraine, and the western media is silent simply because he had the wrong views of Zelensky and the war.
Full Disclosure: Gonzalo Lira is/was my cousin. We'd met maybe once or twice but hadn't seen each other in twenty-five years or more. I reached out to him last week by email and politely asked if he'd answer some questions on Russia/NATO/Putin for a Substack piece. I didn't expect to hear back right away since we weren't close but never thought it could be forever and for the worst possible reasons.

I hesitated to write about this last weekend when I first noticed it had been 24 and then 48 hours since Gonzalo had posted anything to any social media, though the early rumors were already circulating. He had been pretty consistent with his Telegram, Twitter, and YouTube activity since the start of the war, earning hundreds of thousands of followers for his honest and accurate reporting on the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Gonzalo Lira was a writer, filmmaker, life coach, and more recently war reporter who had lived in Ukraine for years. He was the father of two children. He graduated with honors from Dartmouth and got a million-dollar advance for his first novel Counterparts at a young age.

He first began reporting on the Russian invasion from a luxury hotel in Kiev in late February before his videos went viral and made it onto Russian state TV. The next day hotel management, probably on orders from the government, kicked him out of the hotel and he took a train back to his residence city of Kharkov.

Why he didn't take that as a sign to leave Ukraine entirely was curious, but he stayed and streamed his opposition opinions daily from his home in Kharkov. He knew he was taking a risk but perhaps didn't take it seriously enough. One cannot beam from a digital device on this planet and not have NSA, CIA, and then SBU or Kraken Nazis track down that device to a specific location.

Rebuffed privately, influential rabbis go public with plea to cut off American Jewish funding of Israeli extremists

In the wake of last year's round of deadly fighting in Gaza, a group of prominent rabbis in the New York area came to believe that a major American Jewish charity had indirectly fueled the violence.

In a letter to the charity, the 19 rabbis, including ones with national renown such as Angela Buchdahl, Sharon Kleinbaum and Amichai Lau-Lavie, pointed out that it was allowing tax-exempt funds to flow to Israeli right-wing extremists.

As a donor-advised fund, the $2.4 billion Jewish Communal Fund accepts donations from thousands of individuals and distributes the money according to their recommendations.

Some money, the rabbis said, is going to Lehava, a group known for their incendiary marches through Palestinian neighborhoods of Jerusalem involving participants chanting "death to the Arabs." Lehava carried out such a march before fighting between Israel and Hamas broke out last year. The rabbis wrote in their letter, which they followed up with a request for a meeting:
"We value robust debate within the Jewish community and appreciate JCF's commitment to fund groups that represent a wide range of political positions. However, incitement and violence are not legitimate political positions."
The charity rebuffed the rabbis, declining the meeting request and ignoring their call to amend its funding practices and end payments to "organizations that support violence."

Ukrainian kids separated from caregivers at US border

Dozens of Ukrainian kids fleeing the conflict in the country have ended up being separated from their guardians at the US border with Mexico, the New York Times has reported on Tuesday.

Volunteers working in Tijuana have told the newspaper of at least 50 such cases since the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine. All of them involved minors, who couldn't travel with their parents but were entrusted to older siblings, relatives or friends of the family to make the journey to America.

The separations reportedly occurred despite the guardians having all the needed notarized paperwork attesting that the children were willfully handed over to them by their parents.

According to the paper, the authorities have been assuring the children's helpers that the checks, aimed at making sure that the minors aren't being trafficked, would take just a few days, but the kids apparently ended up disappearing in the system for weeks and being moved to shelters inside the US.

"They told us we would be separated for one or two days," Iryna Merezhko, who traveled with her sister's 14-year-old son Ivan, told the New York Times. This happened in early April, but the pair has been unable to reunite to this day. It took Merezhko a lot of effort to simply find out that the boy had been transferred to a children's shelter in California.
