Clueless and vicious CNN anchor asks: 'Why not use water cannons on Ferguson protesters?'

Completely baffled by clashes between police, press, protesters, Rosemary Church offers a strange suggestion.

During CNN's live coverage of the unrest in Ferguson following the killing of an unarmed African-American teenager, Michael Brown, by a white police officer, Darren Wilson, anchor Rosemary Church came up with a solution: "Why not perhaps use water cannons" on the community protesters?

Comment: Spoken like a true authoritarian follower.

Yesterday, Gov. Jay Nixon declared a state of emergency and called in the National Guard to help facilitate peace between protesters and police forces assigned to manage the crowds. The governor also announced he was lifting the curfew he had imposed the night prior.

However, clashes continued last night, despite repeated calls from community leaders and officials on the scene. A total of 31 people were arrested, including numerous protesters and even a few members of the press who were escorted away in handcuffs and thrown in the back of armored police trucks. One man was reportedly shot and two fires broke out. Though accounts varied, some in the crowd reportedly threw objects at police, which prompted officers to send armored vehicles toward protesters and launch tear gas cartridges to disperse the crowd.

Comment: According to Bob Altemeyer, in his book The Authoritarians :
"Authoritarians are highly submissive to established authority, aggressive in the name of that authority, and conventional to the point of insisting everyone should behave as their authorities decide. They are fearful and self-righteous and have a lot of hostility in them that they readily direct toward various outgroups. They are easily incited, easily led, rather un-inclined to think for themselves, largely impervious to facts and reason, and rely instead on social support to maintain their beliefs. They bring strong loyalty to their in-groups, have thick-walled, highly compartmentalized minds, use lots of double standards in their judgments, are surprisingly unprincipled at times, and are often hypocrites. But they are also Teflon-coated when it comes to guilt. They are blind to themselves, ethnocentric and prejudiced, and as close-minded as they are narrow-minded."

Back on 20 June, I wrote the following about the border mess:

So what you have here is some sort of scam designed to get Americans to accept a "solution" that wouldn't be accepted under anything like normal circumstances. The poor immigrants are being used as props.

Maybe the purpose of the border catastrophe is coming into focus...

Isis

Comment: ISIS being the newest creation of western intelligence agencies seems to be the latest way for fear mongering to be spread to drive the people to accept even more draconian measures. As the cryptogon suggest ISIS might even be used and blamed in some future false flag event in the United States. Not only is the defense military industrial complex enriching themselves via aiding and then attacking ISIS, but they are setting up the next group to be used and blamed for instability in the world and as a justification to continue all the measures of the police state in the United States put in place since 9/11.

Obama vs Putin: One acts as a petulant child, the other rules over Russia

obama vs putin
Less than two weeks ago President Obama, sitting for an interview with The Economist magazine, basically went 'old school' on President Putin, dismissing his Presidency, his country, and the future of both. While his words were certainly blatant and blunt, what might be even more revealing is the subtle subtext hidden inside his cavalier attitude: apparently even Presidents are not above being petulant.

There can be little debate about President Obama's intent to insult and offend, declaring that 'it was important to keep things in perspective. Russia doesn't make anything...Immigrants aren't rushing to Moscow in search of opportunity. The life expectancy of the Russian male is around 60 years old. The population is shrinking.' Judging by these rather truculent comments, it is a wonder Russia is not presently a ghost town, full of nothing but garment-rending females desperately in search of goods from empty shelves. The reality behind these comments is far more interesting, however: Russia is the world's third-largest oil producer and second-largest natural gas producer. It is true Russia's domestic goods production is no doubt not where Putin would like, but last time anyone checked the President of the United States was not criticizing Saudi Arabia for failing to manufacture more klotschkys for WalMarts all over America. To be more completely honest, the United States doesn't do all that great a job of manufacturing things either, given Americans have been complaining about the exporting of such jobs to Asia for the last three decades. So while America leans on other countries by pure force of political will and diplomatic power, Russia could technically shut off its natural resource spigots, if it wanted to be just as petulant and truculent as Obama's interview, and pretty much send all of Europe into a total energy panic and crisis. So yes, Mr. President, it might be a good idea indeed to keep things in perspective: like not taking cheap pot-shots at a country that actually has real political power and admittedly has a rich cultural history of doing things that might be construed as politically rash at times.

Comment: It would be a funny circus show with Obama as the pathetic clown in the center of it, if all this did not involve the powerful Military Industrial Complex for which every civilian death in Ukraine, Gaza, Syria, Egypt etc means money, lots of money in their pockets, and control of the world's resources.

Ukraine's Nakba: U.N. says 3 quarters of a million people have fled into Russia since U.S. puppet regime siezed power in February

About 730,000 Ukrainians have left the country for Russia this year, the European head of the United Nations agency for refugees said on Tuesday, citing data compiled by Russia.

The figure, which the UNHCR said it had assessed as reliable, excluded people who would normally have crossed the border for trade or tourism purposes, the agency's European director Vincent Cochetel told a news briefing.

"The 730,000, it's the 'plus' compared to other years," he said. "...Sometimes they just walk across the border, they come with plastic bags. Many of them are really destitute."

The figure suggests this year's exodus from Ukraine is bigger than previously thought.

A further 117,000 were displaced inside Ukraine, a number that was growing by about 1,200 per day, he said.

The UNHCR did not break down its headline figure by ethnic group, though Cochetel said a "wind of panic" was driving civilians away as the Ukrainian army closes in on major eastern cities held by separatist forces.

Futile: UN humanitarian chief to visit Ukraine

Image
© Flickr/ John GillespieSounds good, doesn't it?: United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos
United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Valerie Amos, is expected to visit Ukraine later this week, planning also to make a stop in the country's eastern regions to evaluate the humanitarian situation, a UN representative said Thursday.

"Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Valerie Amos, will travel to Ukraine between 21 and 24 August 2014. Ms. Amos is also expected to visit eastern Ukraine to see firsthand the humanitarian situation for people in the areas affected by fighting," Amanda Pitt, a spokeswoman for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said.

Comment: While she is at it, maybe Ms. Amos could also visit all these Ukranian refugees in Russia, and learn a thing or two about true hospitality from the Russians?

Psychopath USA: Operating on both sides of Syrian-Iraqi border, providing cover for terrorists in Syria, fighting ISIS in Iraq

US Jet

US may attempt to arm and provide air cover for terrorists in Syria after claiming success in fighting ISIS in Iraq using Kurds.

As predicted, the "sudden" appearance of the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq (ISIS) in northern Iraq weeks ago, has created the rhetorical framework within which the United States and its regional partners will attempt to militarily intervene in both Iraq and Syria. Token US airstrikes have already been underway in Iraq, and it is now revealed that US special operation forces have been operating in Syria, under the guise of attempting to rescue abducted and now slain American journalist, James Wright Foley. The New York Times in an article titled, "U.S. Tried to Take Foley and Other Hostages From ISIS," claimed:
A secret nighttime military mission authorized by President Obama to rescue Americans held captive in Syria failed early this summer when a team of two dozen Delta Force commandos raided an oil refinery in the northern part of the country but found after a firefight with Islamic militants that there were no hostages to be saved, administration officials said Wednesday.
With one American journalist, TIME reporter Steven Sotloff, still missing and allegedly being held by ISIS terrorists, further US military incursions into Syrian territory may be attempted under a similar alleged pretense. To further justify expanding across the border and into Syria already ongoing US military operations in Iraq, the Western media has begun claiming that ISIS leadership, "fearing" US airstrikes, are fleeing to safety in neighboring Syria.

Comment: And there we have it, clearly laid out, the reason the US has suddenly offered to defend Iraq against ISIS, the force they created and trained to attack the Assad government in Syria. Not for humanitarian reasons at all it seems. They want an excuse, any excuse, to attack openly within Syria, and to accomplish that difficult task that they have been trying to achieve for some years, regime change in Syria.

The Historical Perspective of the 2014 Gaza Massacre

Image
Israel's 'Operation Protective Edge' against the occupied Gaza Strip.

People in Gaza and elsewhere in Palestine feel disappointed at the lack of any significant international reaction to the carnage and destruction the Israeli assault has so far left behind it in the Strip. The inability, or unwillingness, to act seems to be first and foremost an acceptance of the Israeli narrative and argumentation for the crisis in Gaza. Israel has developed a very clear narrative about the present carnage in Gaza.

It is a tragedy caused by an unprovoked Hamas missile attack on the Jewish State, to which Israel had to react in self-defence. While mainstream western media, academia and politicians may have reservations about the proportionality of the force used by Israel, they accept the gist of this argument. This Israeli narrative is totally rejected in the world of cyber activism and alternative media. There it seems the condemnation of the Israeli action as a war crime is widespread and consensual.

Comment: A good comprehensive summation of the history of Israel's actions in Gaza, as far as it goes. Unfortunately, the author does not seem to grasp the extent of ponerology in Israel or that the leaders of Israel and the west are psychopaths with no concern other than achieving their genocidal agenda. Perhaps reading Political Ponerology might bring some light to the subject.

Income control - A nasty trick coming to a government near you

Income Control
© Dreamstime
Sydney - Income control is the process of managing welfare recipients' money by governments. This includes not being allowed to purchase alcohol and tobacco, and withholding of money to pay rent and expenses.

The idea comes to you courtesy of an Australian billionaire called "Twiggy" Forrest. Twiggy apparently hasn't twigged to the fact that welfare payments aren't exactly luxurious and generally can't pay for real world costs.

No, a billionaire hasn't suddenly had an original idea, in case you were worrying about that. The idea is based on an income management scheme currently used to manage finances for Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders. The Australian government has said it won't be taking up the idea immediately, "in the next weeks or months."

The government, meanwhile, has imposed truly draconian requirements on Newstart (unemployment welfare) recipients, including going for 40 jobs a month. "Work for the dole" is also a required part of receiving unemployment welfare for those aged up to 59.

School leavers are unable to receive benefits for six months, and are required to apply for jobs anyway to be eligible for benefits. Critics have said that this is a case of the rich punishing the poor, but the poisonous element in the apparently endless tiers of hoops for welfare recipients to jump through has become a serious social issue.

Be afraid! Islamic State terrorists could have already crossed US border - Rick Perry

 Rick Perry
© Reuters / Larry DowningTexas Governor Rick Perry
Texas Gov. Rick Perry sounded the alarm on Thursday over the "very real possibility" that terrorists associated with the Islamic State and other extremist groups have already snuck into the United States via its border with Mexico.

In a speech to the Heritage Foundation in Washington, DC, the former presidential candidate - and potential 2016 contender - said that quick action needs to be taken in order to prevent terrorists from entering the US. Since border security is already lax, he argued, "individuals from ISIS or other terrorist states" could already be within the country's borders.

Perry acknowledged that there is "no clear evidence" that terrorists are in the US, but continued to stress the issue.

"I think there's obvious, great concern about the border not being secure and us not knowing who is penetrating across," he said, as quoted by ThinkProgress. "The cartels, as vicious and brutal as they are, might be the least of our worries. What other bad actors are coming here, or for that matter, have arrived already? Where did they come from? What did they bring with them?"

According to the New York Times, Perry portrayed the situation at the border - in which tens of thousands of undocumented immigrants have illegally entered the US since last October - as a national security issue. He called on the government to not only add more law enforcement officials to keep an eye on the border, but to also deploy drones to the region as a way to implement more effective monitoring.

In a 2013 terrorism assessment, however, the State Department found, "There are no known international terrorist organizations operating in Mexico, and there is no evidence that any terrorist group has targeted U.S. citizens in Mexican territory." It also said no known terror cells related to Al-Qaeda or Hezbollah were operating in the Western hemisphere.

Jihadi forces in Iraq strengthened by U.S. policy

The US' strengthening of extreme jihadi forces and weakening the traditional governments in the Middle East in recent years is now the main problem in Iraq and the region, Martin Sieff, a veteran American foreign correspondent, told RIA Novosti Tuesday.

Comment: It's only a "problem" for those innocent people who will suffer at the hands of the extremists. Obama and the West will not be in that group.

"Although President Barack Obama made clear in his speech that he understood the United States could now only play a limited role in Iraq, the problem is that the United States has recklessly strengthened extreme jihadi forces throughout the Middle East in recent years and it has systematically weakened the traditional governments in the region," Sieff said.

"Al-Qaeda, ISIS and other extreme forces are now taking advantage of these irresponsible policies," the journalists asserted. "A wave of air strikes will not be enough to solve the problem."

Comment: Here, the journalist is missing the main point - that ISIS/Al-Qaeda are Western creations who do exactly what the U.S. wants them to do. The U.S. policies that benefit those groups are no accident. They are a result of the partnership between Western governments and Middle Eastern jihadist groups.

The US military conducted some 15 airstrikes around Mosul dam on Monday. A new round of air strikes was in support of Iraqi and Kurdish forces near the dam fighting against ISIS militants. The dam fell under control of Islamic State (IS) rebels earlier this month. However, the reports coming from the area of who is in control of the dam, government forces or IS, have been contradicting in the past few days.

Comment: The U.S. doesn't really care about democracy or whether it can be forcibly imposed on Iraq. A radical Islamic government is just fine for the U.S., as long as they can install their puppet politicians and control the country behind the scenes.
