Russian plans in Syria - the picture clears

Russia Syria flags
A lot has happened in the last few hours. Putin spoke at the UN, the Russian Parliament has approved the use of Russian military forces in Syria and Sergei Ivanov has given the Russian media a detailed explanation for the reasons which made the Kremlin request such an authorization. The picture has finally become much clearer.

What will not happen:

There will be no "Most Anticipated Showdown in Recent History": no Russian ground operation, no Russian imposition of a no-fly zone (especially not against the US or its allies!), no MiG-31s, no Russian Airborne Forces, no Russian tanks on the frontlines, no Russian SSBN (nuclear weapons carrying) submarines and probably no significant Russians military presence around Damascus. In fact, there will be no Russian unilateral military operation of any kind. All that nonsense can now finally be put to rest.

Comment: Someone had to step up to the plate to stop the killing. The US and its vassals certainly weren't..

Fear mongering: U.S. Dept of Health boosting stockpile of burn treatments in case of nuclear attack

"The detonation of an improvised nuclear device would produce intense heat, resulting in many patients with severe burns," says a September 30 news release from the Department of Health and Human Services.

The announcement says HHS has contracted for the development of "four novel products to treat severe thermal burns."

The products will boost the number of treatment options in case of disaster, and they'll also be used in "routine" burn care situations.

The four treatments -- one commercially available right now and three in development -- "will be added to the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) or managed by vendors to help protect people from burn injuries resulting from radiological and nuclear threats," HHS said.

The announcement notes that burns stemming from a nuclear attack may require surgial skin grafting that is "resource intensive and technically demanding." And with only 127 burn centers nationwide, a "mass casualty" incident could "easily overwhelm the nation's burn care infrastructure."

"To protect health and save lives from the impacts of multiple types of disasters, we have to address critical challenges in burn care," said Robin Robinson, Ph.D., director of HHS's Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA). "These products are intended to offer greater options and help create a continuum of care in a mass casualty incident; together they have the potential to eliminate resource-intensive steps, shorten hospital stays and improve patient outcomes."

The announcement comes at a time of heightened concern about national security in general and the threat of foreign terrorist fighters in particular.

Comment: Effective fear mongering should always include the idea that the government is there to help you!

Yeah, right! Russia hackers try to access Hillary Clinton's server

Image
Russia-linked hackers tried at least five times to pry into Hillary Rodham Clinton's private email account while she was secretary of state, emails released Wednesday show. It is unclear if she clicked on any attachment and exposed her account.

Clinton received the infected emails, disguised as speeding tickets, over four hours early on the morning of Aug. 3, 2011. The emails instructed recipients to print the attached tickets, which would have allowed hackers to take control of their computers.

Security researchers who analyzed the malicious software in September 2011 said that infected computers would transmit information from victims to at least three server computers overseas, including one in Russia. That doesn't necessarily mean Russian intelligence or citizens were responsible.

Clinton has said repeatedly that the unusual homebrew server she used was secure.

But the phishing attempts highlight the risk of Clinton's unsecure email being pried open by foreign intelligence agencies, even if others also received the virus concealed as a speeding ticket from Chatham, New York. The email misspelled the name of the city, came from a supposed New York City government account and contained a "Ticket.zip" file that would have been a red flag.

Most commercial antivirus software at the time would have detected the software, identified it as dangerous and prevented users from infecting themselves. It was unclear if the State Department's network security would have flagged the infected message, or what precautions were in place protecting Clinton's server in the basement of her home in Chappaqua.

US launches propaganda war against Russia's anti-ISIL airstrikes

lies, propaganda
As Russia launches airstrikes against the self-proclaimed Islamic State terrorist group in Syria, the United States has already begun its disinformation campaign. Frustrated with its own failures in combating IS, Washington is misrepresenting Moscow's efforts.

On Wednesday, Russian combat jets launched pinpointed strikes against IS targets in Syria. Almost immediately, Western media outlets carried reports of civilian casualties.

"No sooner had [Russian Foreign Minister Sergei] Lavrov uttered his first words at the Security Council, than numerous reports emerged in Western, regional, including Ukrainian media, that the military operation carried out by Russia had killed civilians, almost as if this operation was aimed at democratic forces and the civilian population," Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told LifeNews television.

"I want to tell you that all this is the very information attack, the information war we have heard so much about, and for which someone, apparently, prepared very well."

Comment: In the past few years Putin has effectively made Western officials look like a bunch of psychopathic punks - which they are. Now Russia has stepped in and effectively taken the reigns in the War on Terror, simply because they're the only ones committed to actually fighting one. In response, the Western media will do its best to convince the world that Putin is a maniac, responsible for crimes that NATO wants to continue committing!

Was Russia the country responsible for 'indiscriminately killing' 4 million Muslims since the 1990's? Was it Russia's policy to pretend to bomb ISIS while actually bombing their enemies? Was Russia the country responsible for 'planning to launch a chemical weapon attack on Syria while blaming it on Assad' so that they could do to Syria what they did to Libya? It sure wasn't. A brief tour through recent history should work wonders when dealing with this 'propaganda blitz'.

Propaganda about civilian casualties in Syria appeared 'before Russian aircraft even left the ground' - Putin

Putin

Media reports about civilians in Syria allegedly being killed by Russian airstrikes appeared before Russian aircraft even left the ground, President Vladimir Putin said Thursday.

"As for any information in the media on civilians suffering [from Russian airstrikes], we were ready for such information attacks. I draw your attention to the fact that the first reports on civilian casualties emerged before our planes even left the ground," Putin said at a meeting of the Russian Council for Civil Society and Human Rights.

Russia launched an aerial campaign on Wednesday, at the request of Syrian President Bashar Assad, targeting eight IS military hardware, arms and fuel depots. Almost immediately, Western media outlets carried reports of civilian casualties.

Comment: NATO has been waging a war of genocide for decades. To accuse Russia of 'indiscriminately bombing civilians' is just jaw-dropping, psychopathic propaganda:

Russia will succeed where the West was stalling: Assad's aide says

Russia against ISIS

A Syrian presidential aide has praised Russian air support in the fight against terrorists, slamming the West's "ineffective" airstrikes. Media adviser Bouthaina Shaaban told RT she believes Russian intervention will help stabilize the situation in Syria.
Speaking on behalf of her country, President Assad's political and media adviser has said that Syria "hopes" that Russia's assistance will help Damascus "undermine terrorism" and "restore peace and security".

"But it's not only against Islamic State," Bouthaina Shaaban told RT. "I don't know why people ... why do they forget about Jabhat al-Nusra, although the [UN] Security Council resolution spoke about or considered both Al Nusra and IS a terrorist organization."

China to participate in the Russian led fight against ISIS?

China will be helping out the Syrian government in the fight against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIL/ISIS) by sending "military advisers," media reports have claimed.

"The Chinese will be arriving in the coming weeks," a Syrian army official told the Lebanon-based news website Al-Masdar Al-'Arabi.

The report claims that a Chinese naval vessel is on its way to Syria with dozens of "military advisers" on board. They will reportedly be followed by troops.

The ship is said to have passed the Suez Canal in Egypt and be making its way through the Mediterranean Sea.

According to the website, the advisers will be joining Russian personnel in the Latakia region.

Meanwhile, an Israeli military news website, DEBKAfile, has cited military sources as saying that a Chinese aircraft carrier, the Liaoning-CV-16, has already been spotted at the Syrian port of Tartus on the Mediterranean coast. It was said to be accompanied by a guided missile cruiser.

Comment: Sources are still sparse regarding China's potential involvement in the real fight against the Islamic State, but if true it will be yet another strike against the United States' proxy forces in Syria.

Palestinian flag raised for the first time at UN headquarters

Palestine flag United Nation
© Andrew Kelly / ReutersThe Palestinian flag flies beside the flag of the United Nations after being raised by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in a ceremony during the United Nations General Assembly.
The flag of Palestine has been raised at the UN headquarters, joining those of member states and marking a "proud day" for all Palestinian people, according to President Mahmoud Abbas, who addressed the General Assembly with a request for a full membership.

The Palestinian flag was raised at the United Nations headquarters in New York in a symbolic gesture, which the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called an "important" one.

"In this historical moment, I say to my people everywhere: raise the flag of Palestinians very high because it is the symbol of our identity," Abbas said at the ceremony. "It is a proud day."

Hundreds of the world's top politicians, diplomats and journalists attended the ceremony, agreed upon by the UN General Assembly earlier in September. However, the move was not welcomed by Israel and the US, who voted against the resolution.

Comment: As the Palestinian flag is raised, Israel confirms new airstrikes on Gaza. This is how a psychopathic state responds to the world wanting to recognize Palestinians as a people with a land.

Best of the Web: Islamic Holocaust: Western wars have killed AT LEAST 4 million Muslims since 1990

Image
Shock and awe... and death, lots of death.
Last month, the Washington DC-based Physicians for Social Responsibility (PRS) released a landmark study concluding that the death toll from 10 years of the "War on Terror" since the 9/11 attacks is at least 1.3 million, and could be as high as 2 million.

The 97-page report by the Nobel Peace Prize-winning doctors' group is the first to tally up the total number of civilian casualties from US-led counter-terrorism interventions in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The PSR report is authored by an interdisciplinary team of leading public health experts, including Dr. Robert Gould, director of health professional outreach and education at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center, and Professor Tim Takaro of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University.

Yet it has been almost completely blacked out by the English-language media, despite being the first effort by a world-leading public health organisation to produce a scientifically robust calculation of the number of people killed by the US-UK-led "war on terror".

Comment: Widening the focus to all Western interventions in the Muslim world, the death toll increases further.

Summarizing the above findings... the upper toll for West-caused deaths in Afghanistan and Pakistan (since 1991) is 5 million, and the conservative estimate for deaths resulting from Western intervention in Iraq (since 1991) is 3 million (the upper toll is 4 million).

Then we should add in the death toll from the proxy war against Syria (thus far), which is at least 100,000. The death toll in Libya from NATO's blitzkrieg (followed by CIA-fuelled civil war) is officially 40,000, but an independent fact-finding commission found it to be 660,000.

Then there have also been the smaller-scale invasions and occupations of Lebanon and Palestine, the invasions and occupations of Mali and other central African states, and the drone and proxy wars in Yemen and Somalia, each yielding anything from several hundreds of deaths to tens of thousands.

All told, we're probably looking at around 10 million people across 'the Muslim world' (from North Africa to Afghanistan) killed - either directly slaughtered, or as a consequence of military intervention - by the Empire's war machine since 1991.

If that isn't a holocaust, what is it?

Forget about the West, Putin just remade the rules of the game in Syria

Image
© REUTERS/Mikhail Klimentyev/RIA Novosti/KremlinRussian President Vladimir Putin, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, and US Secretary of State John Kerry at the UN General Assembly in New York on September 28, 2015.
On Wednesday, Russia began bombing Syrian rebels, apparently unaffiliated with the Islamic State, in a major escalation of the 54-month war that has the US searching for answers.

The bombing campaign "completely bypasses every bit of legitimate discussion we've had with them so far," a defense official told Politico.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Barack Obama had reportedly agreed about fighting ISIS and opening lines of communication between their militaries to prevent any accidental conflict.

But on Wednesday the Russians gave the US very little notice before bombing rebel groups fighting the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad, a close ally of Russia.

Comment: What have the Americans done to deserve any kind of advance notice? Syria is in a full blown war with ISIL, and has been for months. It's time for something to be done, and Putin is sick watching the West do nothing.

"This morning a Russian 3-star general walked across street to the US embassy in Baghdad and told them 'We bomb in 1 hour," the BBC's Paul Danahar tweeted.

"'Stay out of our way.'"
