Benghazi mother about Hillary: 'She's lying! She's absolutely lying!'

On Thursday, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton testified before Congress about the 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi. But Patricia Smith, the mother of the one of the victims, likely won't be satisfied with any of Clinton's answers.

Sean Smith was one of the four Americans killed during the 2012 terrorist attack in Libya. Ahead of Hillary Clinton's testimony before the House committee on Benghazi, CNN landed an interview with Smith's, mother, Patricia Smith.

"She has not called me," Smith said, referring to Clinton. "She has not contacted me. She has not given me any information, except to tell me that I am not a member of the immediate family and I do not need to know."

But she became especially irate after being shown a clip of Clinton's earlier testimony.

"She's lying!" Smith said. "She's absolutely lying."

"I saw on TV the bloody fingerprints on the walls over there," she added. "I asked specifically, 'Are those my son's fingerprints crawling down the walls?' Somebody's got to tell me!"

Smith reiterated her frustrations to Sky News on Thursday."Why wasn't there security for my son and the ambassador and the other guys? There was supposed to be security," she said. Smith also claimed that her son warned her before the attack about his own suspicions."The night before, he called me and he said 'mum there's trouble here...there's people walking around and taking pictures of everything. Something's going to happen."

"I'm calling Hillary a boldfaced liar," she added.

Thursday marks the eighth congressional panel held to investigate the Benghazi attacks. While the probes did unveil Clinton's problematic use of a private email server, it has done little to find her guilty of any wrongdoing in relation to the Libya incident.

Best of the Web: 'The jig is up' - Assad's visit to Moscow sends another serious message to the U.S.

Putin and Assad Moscow meeting

Moscow has struck a devastating political blow against the West yet again, especially against its Middle Eastern policy, with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad visit to Moscow on October 20 to meet his Russian counterpart - Vladimir Putin.

Spokesman for the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov said talks were held in both narrow and expanded format with the participation of key figures of Russia's government. "The talks were held for a long while, and their subject is quite clear," - said Peskov. Assad relayed to Putin about the situation in Syria and upcoming operations of Syrian government troops. The two leaders have also discussed topics related to the participation of Russian Air Force warplanes in those operations. "The most pressing topics were the fight against terrorist groups and the extension of Russian operations to support the offensive of the Syrian armed forces, "- said Peskov. Peskov did not specify whether the political future of Bashar al-Assad himself was discussed or not. Moreover, Russia is willing to assist Syria in the search for a political solution to the crisis in the country. "On the basis of positive dynamics in combat, in the end, a long-term settlement will be achieved with the participation of all political forces, as well as ethnic and religious groups. The Syrian people certainly must have the final say." - Vladimir Putin said after the meeting was over.

It is clear that such an unexpected visit does not pursue the goal of detailed discussion of specific aspects of bilateral cooperation. Those are usually carried out by experts and heads of government bodies, in this case they were held by Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov and the Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu. The main goal of the Russian-Syrian talks was a demonstration of the determination that both Moscow and Damascus both have to put an end to ISIL or any other illegal armed group, created at the expense of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar with an extensive amount of support from the US, Turkey and Jordan.

Comment: Another serious message has been sent to the U.S. but is anyone even paying attention?

Whistleblower Wikileaks publishes second batch of documents from CIA chief's personal email

Image
The whistleblower organization WikiLeaks has published a second set of documents obtained from CIA Director John Brennan's personal email account.

The first set of documents published on Wednesday contained reports on Afghanistan and torture, and ideas for US policy towards Iran.

The new release contains Brennan's address book and a full version of 'Executive summary of key findings and recommendations on Afghanistan and Pakistan', some pages of which were published on Wednesday by Anonymous.

The November 2008 report compiled by a team of Senate analysts is accompanied by a memo from Louis Tucker, the minority staff director for Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chairman Christopher "Kit" Bond (R-Missouri).

"Everyone we spoke with on the ground in Afghanistan and Pakistan confessed that they know of no overall USG strategy for the region," Tucker wrote. "Rather, we observed quality individuals serving judiciously in their own lanes ungoverned by a coordinated, comprehensive strategy."

The US government would have to develop a "comprehensive regional strategy designed to meet a set of clearly defined goals," Tucker's memo concluded.

Best of the Web: How US special interests use political technologies to keep the population fooled and under control

Part 1

On September 28, while addressing the UN General Assembly, Putin proposed "implementing naturelike technologies, which will make it possible to restore the balance between the biosphere and the technosphere." It is necessary to do so to combat catastrophic global climate change, because, according to Putin, CO2 emissions cuts, even if implemented successfully, would be a mere postponement rather than a solution.

I hadn't heard the phrase "implementing naturelike technologies" before, so I Googled it and Yandexed it, and came up with nothing more than Putin's speech at the UN. He coined the phrase. As with the other phrases he's coined, such as "sovereign democracy" and "dictatorship of the law," it is a game-changer. With him, these aren't words thrown on the wind. In each of these cases, the phrase laid the foundation of a new philosophy of governance, complete with a new set of policies.

In the case of "sovereign democracy," it meant methodically excluding all foreign influences on Russia's political system, a process that culminated recently when Russia, in tandem with China, banned Western NGOs, which were previously making futile attempts to destabilize Russia and China politically. Other countries that find themselves having trouble with the Orange Revolution Syndicate can now follow their best practices.

In the case of "dictatorship of the law," it meant either explicitly legalizing and absorbing into the system, or explicitly outlawing and destroying, every type of illegal or semi-legal social formation, first by focusing on the criminal gangs and protection rackets that proliferated in Russia during the wild 1990s, and now expanding into the international sphere, where Russia is now working to destroy the products of illegal Western activities, such as ISIS, along with other US-trained, US-armed, Saudi-funded terrorist groups. "Dictatorship of the law" means that no-one is above the law, not even the CIA or the Pentagon.

Time to ramp up the propaganda: Pentagon launching European social media campaign

US Joint Staff official Brigadier General Charles Moore said that he US Department of Defense is preparing to launch European information operations to combat Russia in the information and social media domain.

The US Department of Defense is preparing to launch European information operations to combat Russia in the information and social media domain, US Joint Staff official Brigadier General Charles Moore said on Thursday.

"We are in the final stages of staffing the European Reassurance Military Information Support Operations Program, which will provide expanded authorities to conduct... training and in some cases, messaging support, to our partners in the region," Moore said in testimony to the US House Armed Services Committee.

Comment: Washington is realizing that they are losing the information war. Despite the lies of the Western media, the unvarnished truth is leaking. Europeans aren't buying the propaganda anymore and the empire is getting nervous because former allies as well as those countries destroyed by the US are beginning to turn toward Russia.

In Jerusalem, you're not a terrorist if you're an Israeli Jew

IDF soldiers were quick to identify a man they killed late Wednesday night as a "terrorist," but as soon as they realized he was not an Arab Palestinian as they'd thought - but rather an Israeli Jew - the label was promptly discarded.

In an incident reported in the Jerusalem Post, two Israel Defense Forces soldiers killed a man who was "acting very suspiciously" before, they say, attempting to reach for their guns. After demanding he show them his ID, the confrontation escalated into a fight.

Neither soldiers were injured in the scuffle that left the "suspicious" man dead.

"The soldiers had high suspicions that he was a terrorist," police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said Thursday morning.

Only after the IDF troops shot the man down did they find out he was not an Arab Palestinian as they had assumed, but a Jew from Jerusalem. As soon as they realized their mistake, the soldiers stopped calling the man a "terrorist."

Emergency responders with the largely Orthodox volunteer organization ZAKA were on the scene. Chairman Yehuda Meshi Zahav said he also believed the man was an Arab terrorist.

Comment: There you have it, folks. What more do we need to prove that 'terrorist', as used in Israeli society, is just a semantically empty buzzword used to demonize the victims of Israeli aggression and occupation? Note to Israelis: Israelis can be terrorists too - you have a load of them ruling your country.

Putin's approval rating hits new historic high of almost 90%

Vladimir Putin
© Alexei Druzhinin / RIA NovostiRussian President Vladimir Putin
The approval rating of President Vladimir Putin is now higher than ever at 89.9 percent and pollsters say the fresh surge in the Russian leader's popularity is due to the successful anti-terrorist operation in Syria.

"Vladimir Putin's approval rating has set a new record at 89.9 percent refreshing the previous maximum set in June 2015 when it's average monthly value was 89.1 percent," reads the release of the VTSIOM all-Russian public opinion research center circulated on Thursday.

The VTSIOM experts also wrote in their message that the high levels of approval of Putin's work must be linked with recent events in Syria, where the Russian Air Force is conducting a successful campaign against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS).

In the same poll 26 percent of Russians said the Syrian airstrikes were the most important events of the past week. Other developments that the Russian public deemed as important were various sports events and the continuing crisis in Ukraine.

Putin's approval rating first exceeded 80 percent about 18 months ago, after the accession of the Crimean Republic into the Russian Federation. Its average in March 2014 was 76.2, in April it was already 82.2 and in May it was 86.2.

Party pooper: Obama vetoes NDAA over Gitmo and budget workarounds

Image

President Barack Obama has vetoed the military funding bill passed by Congress, envisioning almost $1 billion in aid to Syrian rebels and the Ukrainian government.

As the primary reason for vetoing the House Resolution 1735, as the 2016 National Defense Authorization Act is known, Obama cited the allocation of $38 billion into a war fund not subject to budget caps, saying it "irresponsibly" ducks the spending caps established by the 2011 Budget Control Act. He has called on the Republican-controlled congress to abolish the caps and increase government spending on both military and domestic programs.

"I'm going to be sending [the NDAA] back to Congress. And my message to them is very simple: Let's do this right," Obama said.

"We're in the midst of budget discussions -- let's have a budget that properly funds our national security as well as economic security."

Nothing to worry about: Presenting America's new debt ceiling of $19,600,000,000,000

Image
Even as the bond market has been rather concerned about another possible debt ceiling showdown as we showed before, and which earlier today prompted the Treasury to announce the purposefully dramatic step of postponing the auction of 2 Year Notes next week, the reality is that one way or another, with an equity-driven wake up call for the GOP or without, the debt ceiling will be raised.

The only question is how much.

As a reminder, the reason why the total US debt held by the public hasn't budged from $18.1 trillion since March 16, 2015 is because that is when the last debt ceiling limit was hit. In the seven month since, the US Treasury has been cruising along on emergency cash measures, even as the total debt - if only for reporting purposes - has not budged (in reality it has grown by about half a trillion).

It will budge very soon, because no matter what the outcome of the upcoming week of debt ceiling negotiations, one thing is certain: the US has to be able to borrow more in order to survive.

Comment: Refilling the US 'credit card' debt has nowhere to go but up, up, and away. But look out below.

McCain continues to expose US-backed terror with extraordinary hypocrisy

Image
US Senator John McCain has denounced the US-Russian agreement to avoid inadvertent midair clashes in Syria as "immoral," saying the pact allows Moscow to freely bomb Washington "allies" on the ground.

"This is not only self-defeating and harmful to our national interests; it is immoral," McCain said in a statement on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Washington and Moscow signed a "memorandum of understanding" to minimize the risk of air collisions between their military aircraft over Syria.

According to a Russian defense official, the agreement suggests a potential for US-Russian cooperation against Daesh (ISIL) terrorists.

US State Department Spokesman John Kirby, however, said the deal was a narrow arrangement that "does nothing to assuage our concerns about Russian military activities in Syria."

McCain, the Arizona Republican who chairs the Armed Services Committee, said the pact amounts to a betrayal of US-trained forces in Syria. He said US pilots are required to give way to Russian warplanes while Syrian ground forces attack the militants fighting the government of Bashar al-Assad.

Comment: John McCain making a judgement on immorality is a joke. And readers may remember that only a month ago McCain called the US plan to train Syrian 'rebels' an "abject failure" during a Senate testimony hearing with Genenal Loyd Austin. The program spent $500 million and resulting in a whopping "four or five" fighters on the ground. McCain's huffing and puffing only continues to expose the US creation of terror in Syria. So, please do keep it up Senator.
