Extrajudicial killings "in the name of peace"

US drone
US drone
Thousands of extra-judiciary drone killings, all personally approved by Peace Nobel Laureate, Obama, and all with casualties and so-called 'collateral damage', costs the affected, mostly poor communities, tens of thousands of lives and destroyed properties and public infrastructure valued at millions of dollars; an assurance to keep them poor and submissive.

Do not such horrendous criminal acts by the self-declared western caliph Obama beg the question - who will eventually send a drone to neutralize the killer? - Or for that matter, anyone who dares following in the murderer's footsteps, Democrat or Republican, two faces of the same coin?

Malaysia gets help investigating MH17 from Russia, Kiev in panic

Putin and Razak
Translated by Ollie Richardson for Fort Russ 25th May, 2016

The meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Razak on the sidelines of the ASEAN - Russia in Sochi has caused panic among the Ukrainian authorities. As is known, the two leaders agreed to coordinate an investigation into the downed "Boeing" over Ukraine in the framework of a joint working group.

After a meeting with Vladimir Putin, Najib Razak noted the progress in the case of the "Boeing", which crashed in 2014 over Donbass. "I saw that we made positive steps on the path to justice for families and victims of MH17 when the Russian President and I agreed that after our next steps will be determined, we will outline the research results of the joint investigation team in October," said a statement published on the website of the Prime Minister. He also urged all parties not to succumb to speculation and not to come to premature conclusions. However, the Minister of Transport of Malaysia sent a letter to the Dutch Commission on the investigation of the tragedy with the Boeing, requesting to include Russian experts in its composition.

At the request of Petro Poroshenko, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin contacted by phone the US Secretary of State John Kerry and complained to the latter that Russia has dragged Malaysia to its side. Klimkin appealed to Kerry to urge them to take steps in order to disrupt the emerging Russia and Malaysia joint investigation into the causes of the disaster.

Comment: This is rich. Malaysia, the main victim of the tragedy, teams up with the presumed guilty party, Russia, to circumvent the faux investigation of the Dutch Investigative Commission - and also requests that Russian investigators be given access to available information. And all Kiev can do is cry to its American Mob bosses and threaten Malaysia with international scandal. It'll be interesting to see how Mark Toner twists this one in October!

Crocodile tears from those who create wars this Memorial Day

Golden Gate National Cemetery
© Wikimedia CommonsGolden Gate National Cemetery is a U.S. National Cemetery, located in the city of San Bruno, San Mateo County, 12 miles south of San Francisco.
A few million Americans may be thinking about it, but won't be celebrating Memorial Day. For them, there's not much to celebrate or to remember.

They're the low-wage employees who may have to work all three days, without overtime; about three million workers earn the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour. Many work 30 to 35 hours a week, just low enough that their employers don't have to pay for insurance, holidays, or sick leave. The corporate CEOs, of course, will be enjoying the long weekend at their alternate vacation homes in the mountains, or along the coasts, or at off-shore islands where they have found banks willing to hide their money and avoid U.S. taxes.

Almost 600,000 persons are homeless on any given night. They are homeless for any number of reasons, but whatever reason, the reality is they are homeless--and the wealthiest nation in the world cheers $10 million a year pro athletes, but discounts social workers who have graduate degrees and are paid an average of about $46,000 a year.

The homeless live beneath bridges, in subway tunnels, on the streets, or if the shelters aren't filled, in protected areas with cots for beds, and grocery carts for what few possessions they have. In Atlantic City, the homeless live beneath the boardwalk, unseen by hundreds of thousands who go into casinos, buy expensive dinners, and think nothing of dropping a few hundred or a few thousand dollars at gaming tables and slot machines. In urban cities, those with jobs and families walk by the homeless, as if they are invisible, sometimes erroneously thinking that even if the homeless get a dollar or two, they'd rush off to buy beer, liquor, or more drugs.

About 50,000 of the homeless on any given night are veterans, according to the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Overall, more than 150,000 veterans are homeless during the year. The reasons for veterans being homeless are because of "extreme shortage of affordable housing, livable income and access to health care . . . lingering effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and substance abuse, which are compounded by a lack of family and social support networks," according to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans. Under the Obama administration, which has focused upon assisting veterans, the number of homeless veterans on any given night has come down from about 80,000 six years ago, but even a few dozen homeless veterans are far too many.

Chief negotiator of the Syrian opposition High Negotiations Committee (HNC) at the intra-Syria talks announced a decision to leave his post, local media reported Sunday.

Mohammed Alloush, who is also a member of the Jaysh al-Islam group, made a decision to resign because intra-Syria talks in the Swiss city of Geneva were not successful, Jordanian el-Dorar al-Shamia news website reported, citing Alloush's statement.

A Syrian government delegation, as well as three opposition groups — the Riyadh-formed HNC, the Moscow-Cairo and the Hmeimim groups have been taking part in the UN-mediated Geneva talks.

Intra-Yemeni talks are edging closer to forming a national consensus government, military and security committees, as well as a presidential body overseeing the transitional period, Deputy Secretary General of the General People's Congress (GPC) and former Yemeni Foreign Minister Abu Bakr Qirbi told Sputnik on Sunday.

UN-mediated conflict settlement talks have been ongoing in Kuwait since April 21. The GPC delegation represents the interest of Yemen's ex-president Ali Abdullah Saleh who backs Shiite Houthi rebels against incumbent President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.

"The most important in these consultations is that the negotiators began to put some foundations, in particular with regard to the military and security higher committee, and its role after the signing of the peace agreement," Qirbi, the talks' participant, said.

He noted that the committee's initial role would be to secure the Yemeni capital of Sanaa under the control of Shiite Houthi rebels, its surroundings and other cities.

The speech Obama SHOULD have given in Hiroshima

obama
Obama's actual speech in Hiroshima was a stunning example of deflection, evasion of responsibility, and fake sympathy. The Japanese should have run him out of the country.
Barack Obama became the first U.S. President to visit Hiroshima on Friday, more than seven decades after the U.S. B-29 bomber Enola Gay dropped a 10,000-pound atomic bomb nicknamed "Little Boy" on the city whose military value was far less than that of Tampa to the United States. More than 70,000 people were instantly killed, and virtually the entire city was flattened. Many survivors would suffer prolonged and unimaginably painful aftereffects of radiation, which would cost at least 100,000 more people their lives. The effects of radiation would harm people for years and decades after the initial explosion.

Obama stood at a podium with the epicenter of the blast, the Genbaku Domu, in the background and said that he had "come to mourn the dead." While Obama mourned, there was one thing he did not do: apologize.

He said that "death came from the sky." No mention of why. Or who was responsible, as if it were a natural disaster rather than a crime perpetrated by actual people. Obama was either unwilling or unable to confront the truth and make amends.

Here's what he could have said to try to do so:

Comment: Can you imagine a world in which the American president would speak these words? They're so basic, so rooted in the most obvious common sense. So why is the notion so fantastic? It's a testament to just how far humanity has fallen into ignorance, cruelty, and irrationality. And to make matters worse, the possible future president of the U.S., Donald Drumpf, chose not to criticize Obama for his heartless failure to take responsibility for his country's sins and to truly apologize, but for not confronting the Japanese about Pearl Harbor. That's a new low.

Drunk uncle Trump: Chastises Obama for not bringing up Pearl Harbor in Japan

trump

The possible Republican nominee has slammed Barack Obama for not addressing the sudden 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor while visiting the memorial of the American atomic bombings in Hiroshima, Japan. The remark comes as the US prepares to mark Memorial Day.

"Does President Obama ever discuss the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor while he's in Japan? Thousands of American lives lost," Trump wrote on his Twitter.

Comment: Donald, please remember, this was the memorial for the time the U.S. dropped nuclear weapons on two cities filled with innocent civilians, which killed a couple hundred thousand people or more. Think before you speak. Or better yet, just keep speaking the way you do. You just incriminate yourself as a bigoted idiot for the whole world to see. And that's one way to make America great again, we suppose!

On Friday, Obama became the first US president to visit the memorial of the American atomic bombings of Japan in Hiroshima, which killed thousands of people. The death toll reached 140,000 by the end of 1945. Whereas many call Obama's visit "historic," others point out that he has not apologized for the US' decision to use nuclear weapons.

Beijing warns US: Leave South China Sea

Military tensions heightened between China and the United States as the Obama Administration looks to clamp down on Beijing's influence along the Pacific Rim. On Thursday, China's defense ministry asserted that it acted within the rules of engagement after American officials criticized Beijing for a "provocative" and "unsafe" intercept of a US surveillance aircraft over the South China Sea last week.

A Pentagon spokesperson alleged that two Chinese fighter jets undertook an illegal intercept of an American spy plane during "a routine US patrol" over international airspace, heightening the risk of military miscalculation in the hotly contested region. The Chinese J-11 fighter jets flew within 50 feet (15 meters) of the US EP-3 aircraft, just east of Hainan Island.

Chinese defense ministry spokesman Yang Yujan took exception to the recounting of events, telling a monthly news briefing that the Chinese fighter pilots acted professionally and in line with international rules. The Chinese spokesman also said that future incidents could best be avoided if the US would restrain from surveillance flights near Chinese territorial waters. "That's the real source of danger for Sino-US military safety at sea and in the air," he said. The encounter was triggered when a US Navy ship sailed close to a disputed reef, causing Beijing to scramble fighter jets to prevent an encroachment.

Comment: It will be extremely unlikely that the US bows to China's demand to discontinue its surveillance flights, which amounts to an escalation. Obama's goal for the Asian tour is to shore up allies to complete the encirclement of China's borders. The US is also similarly maneuvering to contain Russia. None of these tactics bode well for a peaceful and cooperative future.

Armed to the teeth: US plans to turn Vietnam into bulwark against China

Washington has recently lifted its arms embargo on Vietnam, encouraging Hanoi to add advanced American weapons to its shopping list, raising the question: what is really behind the Obama administration's move?

With the US lethal arms embargo being lifted, Vietnam is likely to jump at the opportunity to stockpile new weapons, Robert Farley, a senior lecturer at the Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce, suggests in his article for the Diplomat.

Citing documents obtained by the Defense News media outlet, the academic reveals that the US might soon sell F-16 Viper fighters to the Vietnam People's Air Force (VPAF).

SOTT Focus: Behind the Headlines: EgyptAir mystery, chaos in Syria, Saudi press blames U.S. for 9/11

On May 19,
EgyptAir Flight 804
EgyptAir Flight 804 vanishes on May 19, 2016
disappeared from radar over the Mediterranean Sea. Since then, the world has been treated to a barrage of contradictory statements. Was wreckage found or not? When? Was there evidence of an explosion or not? What really happened? On May 17, the U.S. Senate passed the JASTA bill, which could allow 9/11 victim families to sue Saudi Arabia for involvement in 9/11. This comes after months of media hype concerning the infamous 28 pages from the Joint Inquiry report on 9/11 and calling for their declassification. Was Saudi Arabia really responsible? Or is the truth more complex?

Also in the news: a leaked phone call exposes the coup in Brazil, the new ceasefire in Syria exposes American perfidy, Turkey spirals down the toilet of dictatorship, and the Israeli government takes a hard turn to the right (if that's even possible!). This latest episode of Behind the Headlines discussed these developing stories, plus a 'Police State Round-up' of recent police brutality in the US.
