Drunk uncle Trump: Chastises Obama for not bringing up Pearl Harbor in Japan

The possible Republican nominee has slammed Barack Obama for not addressing the sudden 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor while visiting the memorial of the American atomic bombings in Hiroshima, Japan. The remark comes as the US prepares to mark Memorial Day.

"Does President Obama ever discuss the sneak attack on Pearl Harbor while he's in Japan? Thousands of American lives lost," Trump wrote on his Twitter.

Comment: Donald, please remember, this was the memorial for the time the U.S. dropped nuclear weapons on two cities filled with innocent civilians, which killed a couple hundred thousand people or more. Think before you speak. Or better yet, just keep speaking the way you do. You just incriminate yourself as a bigoted idiot for the whole world to see. And that's one way to make America great again, we suppose!

On Friday, Obama became the first US president to visit the memorial of the American atomic bombings of Japan in Hiroshima, which killed thousands of people. The death toll reached 140,000 by the end of 1945. Whereas many call Obama's visit "historic," others point out that he has not apologized for the US' decision to use nuclear weapons.

The Japanese government and its top leadership have repeatedly expressed remorse for its wartime aggression against the US in the lead-up to World War II.

The United States is the only country in the world to have deployed nuclear weapons in combat. The majority of the Japanese disagree with the American justification that the bombing was necessary to help cease hostilities and make Tokyo surrender.

Comment: Make that the majority of humans. Only the murderous crazies justify the mass slaughter of civilians.

In his next tweet, Trump mentioned Memorial Day to honor "all of the great men and women that gave their lives for us and our country." On Sunday, Trump is scheduled to be in Washington, DC to take part in the Memorial Day event with bikers from Rolling Thunder - a gathering that aims to raise awareness for American POWs and servicemen missing in action.

During his Wisconsin campaign in March ahead of the state's April primary, Trump mocked governor Scott Walker for his love for motorcycles, claiming that bikers were his fans. "The bikers love Trump," the real estate tycoon said in March. "I'm not a huge biker, I have to be honest with you, OK? I always liked the limo better."

Trump's bid for presidency has been previously given a boost after ABC News/ Washington Post released a May poll, predicting that he would outperform the likely Democratic nominee Hilary Clinton in a hypothetical general election matchup.

The Donald misses things that seem obvious to many. Obamas' suck-up apology to Japan is not in anyway sincere but is intended to smooth relations over the continued rape and murder of Japanese women buy U.S. service men and to ensure the Japanese remain friends of the U.S. and not turn to China.

Will this hurt the Donald at election time? Given that his 'patriot at any cost' attitude has gotten him this far, I can only imagine the U.S. veterans of WW2 are swooning at these latest remarks about Pearl Harbor.

Donald appears to be putting U.S. interests first, which is a promise he keeps making. Let's hope he is not overly influenced by AIPAC [Link] and the occupiers of Palestine.

I agree with you on the O's suck up policy, but while my inclination is to agree with you in toto, there's another issue and another side which we who see what appears to be a blindness in Donald is perhaps not the case. It's could be more visionary. Donald Trump is a clever man, not a buffoon. If he seems so it's a ruse in my view. He is playing a cartoon version, acting the character of a patriotic of a leader, and his depiction of the justification for Trumans' use of the Atomic Bomb is not without reason.

There are very few WWII Vets left, and fewer still actual combat vets of WWII. I know one and he's in his 90's. A very simple guy who as a kid marched across Europe, fought at the Battle of the Bulge, and still has tears for his buddies all these years later. Another one I knew for a time was one of 12 original men who survived out an entire division. The US Army ran divisions at 100% casualty rates in WWII and that basically meant you had to out-live your own replacement.

WWII vets have told me several intimate stories of close combat. One told me how three of them were slowly making their way through a woods when a german sniper hit one of the other guys setting off a grenade on him. Point is, swooning vets wouldn't surprise me, at least the few left living, and I couldn't fault them either. When you go through experiences like that you don't forgive nations on the whole. I encourage people to get to know combat veterans. It's a mind expanding experience when they actually do engage you with a true story, which is rare, and almost always emotional.

For a time we had a neighbor who was a survivor of the legendary battle for Pork Chop Hill in the Korean war, and I also once worked with a Vietnamese guy who escaped the communists after the fall of Saigon. That one, holy cow, it was a story right out of the Deer Hunter. A tale of survival like no other. When they say war is hell, well we who have not had the pleasure just cannot begin to know.

Both of those guys were serious alcoholic's, and both great human beings as well. It really tore at your soul to know them and you couldn't help but love them for having survived the unthinkable and to still have some humanity left inside, but not all vets or survivors are this way. Some still hate and always will.

On the use of the atomic bomb, I agree with Dr. Joseph Farrell that the use of atomic bomb was unjustified, unjustified not because it was used, but because it was used on people when it almost certainly didn't need to be used that way. We lost the moral high ground with the use of those bombs; we became the tiger we had been fighting, we became one and the same, two wrongs don't make a right. If there was any other option, and there were, and they were considered, then those had to be taken before doing the unthinkable. It was a crime.

Donald is offering a way out of that problem, of having to confront that we are the only nation to have ever used atomic weapons, and to have used them on civilian populations, and besides that at least one of Jimmy Doolittles men died in the bombing of Hiroshima who was being held prisoner there. It was idiocy and we as Americans need to accept that rather than to try to justify it.

I guess this says something about the usefulness of wars for dividing people and creating hate and division. Seems ever so useful to politicians. What vets today aren't getting is that they don't have the higher ground, they can't proclaim self righteous indignation because they are actually no different than the soldiers which invaded Manchuria, Poland, France, Russia, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, and many more. All these many decades later and the American people seem not to have a sense of morality despite the fact that those whom widely support mongers are also those whom most often proclaim themselves as the moral majority. I'm glad I'm not one, and frankly I wouldn't really want one as a friend either. Hypocrisy just isn't my bag.

They say that when the last combat veteran dies is when new wars begin. I've known and spoken intimately with combat vets from WWII, Vietnam, korea, and the Gulf. I don't think most people have any idea what war is like, what it means, what it's like to be involved in one. What I do know is that Trump is playing politics really well.
