FBI director may be investigated for influencing election

James Comey,hillary clinton
Days away from the presidential election, FBI DirectorJames Comey could be in a world of trouble. The bombshell he dropped about the investigation into Hillary Clinton's private email servers has led to official complaints and attacks from the whole political spectrum.

Comey "may have broken the law," Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) has said, referring to the Hatch Act, which covers federal officials appointed by the president and crimes of abuse of power and the manipulation of elections.

Meanwhile, a former ethics lawyer under President George W. Bush, Richard Painter, has filed an official complaint, according to his op-ed in the New York Times.

Weiner, Clinton and the obedient lapdog media

In an effort to protect Washington's elite from the Sturm und Drang of a Trump presidency, the US mainstream media is on a mission to prove, despite all indications to the contrary, that Hillary Rodham Clinton would make a squeaky clean political queen.

Advertisers love to remind us "there is no such thing as bad publicity," but the 2016 presidential showdown between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton has destroyed that bit of folk wisdom.

Media pundits have been nervously chatting up a storm over 'The Donald', but all that free publicity has not been a blessing for the Republican presidential nominee. Since July, Trump has grabbed significantly more media attention than his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, but the overwhelming majority of that coverage (91 percent) has been hostile, according to a new study by the Media Research Center (MRC).

Is it just coincidence that every time the Clinton campaign hits a pothole, it's Trump who gets his suit muddied?

When WikiLeaks performed the function once reserved for journalists and released a batch of incriminating emails against Clinton, showing she had used her private server when handling thousands of classified documents, the media ran with the pulp fiction that Trump was conspiring with the Russians to infiltrate the US election process. That unsubstantiated bit of intrigue kicked up just enough dust to conceal the real story (the explosive content of those emails, of course). But when the Trump campaign hits the rails, as was the case with the release of the tycoon's lewd, locker-room comments, caught on tape over a decade ago, Trump feels the entire weight and wrath of America's media machine for days on end.

U.S. backs out of arms deal with Philippines after Duterte's visit to China

The United States government has stopped an arms deal with the Philippines to sell thousands of assault rifles to the Southeast Asian country amid ongoing tensions between Washington and Manila, a new report says.

According to the deal, the Philippines' national police would have received some 26,000 assault rifles to push ahead with President Rodrigo Duterte's battle against drug trade, Yahoo News reported Tuesday, citing Senate aides.

However, the US State Department halted the deal after Senator Ben Cardin, the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, opposed it because of what he referred to as Manila's human rights violations.

According to sources in the Senate, Cardin voiced his opposition to the deal upon receiving a prenotification from the State Department. The department informs Congress of new weapons sales before they are finalized.

Comment: Despite Duterte's invitation, there have been no investigations to determine human rights violations in the Philippines. The U.S. cancellation of the arms deal likely has more to do with the development of Philippine ties with China than the touted human rights violations. Goldberg's statement about ISIS isn't at all a 'concern' but rather a threat. Unfortunately for the U.S., China and Russia are willing to step up to the plate.

'Google has power to control elections, shift millions of votes to Clinton' says US psychologist and Hillary supporter

Google search
© Francis Lenoir/Reuters
People trust the "unbiased" internet search giant Google so much it can actually influence up to 10 million undecided voters to choose Hillary Clinton for president, prominent US psychologist and author Robert Epstein told RT following years of research.

Despite being a supporter of the Democratic presidential nominee, Dr. Epstein believes Google's unchecked algorithm of placing one candidate over the other in search results constitutes a "threat to democracy."

RT: Robert, how did you discover that Google is possibly in cahoots with the Clinton campaign?

RE: Well I didn't find out that they were necessarily supporting Hillary Clinton, that's not what I found at first. First, through several years of research, I found that they had the power to control elections, the power to shift the votes. So, that was more than four years of experimental research with more than 10,000 people in 39 countries.

So, we established through some very careful experiments that by favoring one candidate in search rankings Google can shift a lot of votes. More than 20 percent of undecided voters overall, and in some demographic groups up to 80 percent of undecided voters. People trust search rankings so much that if one candidate is favored in search rankings that shifts peoples' votes.

Now, more recently, many people have established that Google has a very close relationship with Hillary Clinton. That didn't come from my research, that came from all kinds of investigative research by many people.

At least two Syrian military personnel were killed and 37 civilians injured in a terrorist attack that struck the government-controlled areas of Aleppo, in which the militants used toxic substances, Russia's center for reconciliation in Syria reported.

"Illegal armed groups fired homemade shells fitted with poisonous substances against the Dahiyat Al-Assad and Al-Hamdaniya districts in Aleppo" on Sunday, Russia's Defense Ministry reported.

The attack was first reported by Syrian media, who said at least 15 people experienced severe breathing problems following the assault. A local doctor told RT that the symptoms among the injured pointed to the use of highly toxic chlorine gas. On Monday, human rights NGO Amnesty International said it was investigating the incident, which it said could amount to "a war crime."

The Al-Qaeda led attempt to break siege of Jihadi held eastern districts of Aleppo was repulsed with heavy losses.

Reports from Aleppo confirm that the Al-Qaeda Jihadi counter-offensive to break the siege of the Jihadi held eastern districts of Aleppo has for the moment at least failed.

The Syrian army has recaptured all the points captured by the Al-Qaeda Jihadis in the first two days of their counter-offensive.

Reports also agree that the Jihadis have suffered heavy losses, though there is as usual wide disagreement about the extent of these losses.

Russia UN envoy: UN Security Council divided over Aleppo, but agree on need to separate terrorists in Syria

While the UN Security Council members disagree on what led to the plight of Aleppo, they seem to have come to terms with the fact that the separation of opposition from terrorists is an issue of utmost importance, Vitaly Churkin said Monday.

"There is no unity of opinions among the Council's members on the cause of the Aleppo tragedy, fierce discussions have been taking place, however I can assure you, that understanding of how important is delineation of opposition groups from terrorists has been gradually growing," Russia's Ambassador to the United Nations said, as cited by RIA Novosti. He added that the US has been entrusted with "direct responsibility" with regards to the task of separating fighting factions in eastern Aleppo.

The diplomat pointed out that the need to separate "moderates" from Al-Nusra Front fighters in Aleppo is not "someone's whim" but rather a legitimate demand referred to in the resolutions of the UN Security Council and in the decisions of the International Syria Support Group (ISSG).

Hennepin Co., Minnesota sheriff's deputies leave Standing Rock protest

Hundreds of people protested last week, calling on the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office to bring back its staff and equipment from the Standing Rock pipeline protest.

Now, the sheriff's deputies and equipment are on their way back to Minnesota from the site of the Dakota Access Pipeline protest in North Dakota.

Morton County Sheriff's Office spokesman Rob Keller says all Minnesota law enforcement officers have been released as of Monday. He says the state fulfilled its part of the Emergency Management Assistance Compact, or EMAC.

However, some state lawmakers who represent parts of Hennepin County say the decision by Sheriff Rich Stanek to send personnel and equipment there was inappropriate.

Killary's war crime in Libya should be enough to disqualify her from the Presidency

Hillary
Hillary Clinton's war crime in Libya is the most serious of her many violations of the law. Not only are there international implications beyond merely breaking US Federal law, her war on Libya left a trail of blood which continues to run. It was and remains both illegal and morally unconscionable.

In 2011 Libya was the wealthiest state in Africa whose citizens enjoyed the highest living standards in African history. Libya stood as an example not only to the rest of Africa but also the Arab world, many of whose leaders resented Gaddafi's success, his policy making independence, his ability to combine Islamic tradition with secular realities and his good treatment of non-Arab, black Africans. They may also have been jealous of his penchant for philosophy and literature. This certainly is true of the philistine Gulfis.

But few nations get bombed and have their leader executed purely because of internal peace and prosperity. Hillary Clinton had greater ambitions for Libya. As many knew at the time and as we all know now thanks to Wikileaks, Hillary Clinton was enraged that Gaddafi was on the verge of creating a gold-backed African Dinar which would have replaced the US Dollar as Libya's main trading currency. The idea was to use Africa's natural resources to break free from the shackles of Dollar dependence. That would not do for Hillary Clinton.

Comment: Clinton was the catalyst in the decision to wage war on Libya, thus completely destroying a country that previously had the highest standard of living in Africa and one of the highest in the Arab world. If Libya is an example of Killary's superior ability to lead, and proof of her exceptional decision making prowess, than God help us all if she ends up in the Oval Office.

'One Belt, One Road': China builds infrastructure with speed unprecedented in history

New Silk Road

A few weeks ago, China opened on its territory a nearly 1,000-mile long highway in the northern parts of the country, in the autonomous region of Inner Mongolia. At first glance, there is nothing unusual as far as the 930-kilometre (km) stretch between Bayan Nur City and the village of Alha in North China goes ... completely through the Gobi Desert. Many would ask what is the economic benefit of a road passing through the nothingness? On the territory of the Gobi Desert, which is 12 times larger than Bulgaria, live about as many people as in the municipality of Petrich (most of them in the country of Mongolia), and large reserves of natural resources are not available. The world's longest highway through the desert, however, is part of the new Silk Road: 'One Belt, One Road'. The completion of the highway of over 2,000 km will be finalised in June 2017 and the trip between the capital, Beijing, and Urumqi in Sindzyan - the Uighur autonomous region - will be shortened to 10 hours. From there, from the west, north and south stretch the vast spaces of Asia and Europe with the colossal economic prospects that they hide.

The Chinese leaders slowly but methodically move towards a grandiose infrastructure project of the new Silk Road. Beijing will not just build a fast transport and communication link with the countries of the Eurasian continent with this. The project, 'One Belt, One Road', aims to redefine global trade and financing and to transform the geopolitical architecture of the world, replacing the Atlantic and Pacific relations with Eurasian trade and economic and financial cooperation.
