Malaysian PM: Imperial powers in no position to lecture ex-colonies they once exploited on how to conduct internal affairs

Former imperial powers are in no position to lecture ex-colonies, the Malaysian prime minister has said during a trip to China. Najib Razak is on a week-long visit to sign deals on business, infrastructure development and defense cooperation.

Najib's visit to Beijing follows that of Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte, who stated that his country will be distancing itself from the United States and developing closer ties with China. The Philippines is a former US colony while Malaysia used to be under British rule.

Najib voiced the criticism in an editorial published in the state-run China Daily, in which he said larger countries should treat smaller ones fairly.

"This includes former colonial powers. It is not for them to lecture countries they once exploited on how to conduct their own internal affairs today," the Malaysian leader wrote. "Malaysia and China are united in agreeing on the need to defend the sovereignty of the nation state and in the belief that the individual histories, values and governance systems of different countries must be respected."

"It is crucial that global institutions reflect the legitimate desires and viewpoints of countries that were given no say in the legal and security infrastructure that was set up by the victors of the Second World War," he added, saying that the new world needed new global institutions such as the 57-member Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, which excludes the US and its Asian ally Japan.

Military expert: Russia's decision to send fleet of warships to Mediterranean likely saved Syria from being bombed by US cruise missiles

Moscow's decision to send a fleet of warships, led by the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier, to the eastern Mediterranean may have saved the Syrian military from getting bombed by the US, according to military expert Vladimir Evseev.

Speaking at a press conference at the Rossiya Segodnya news agency press center in Moscow, Evseev, the deputy director of Russia's CIS Institute, pointed out that Washington had only recently considered the possibility of attacking Syrian government forces, using the pretext of a UN report which alleged that Damascus had used chemical weapons.

"We recently lived through a very important milestone which many people did not even notice," the analyst suggested. "Why was the question raised of the Syrian Army's alleged use of chemical weapons? The stage was being set for [US] ship-based cruise missile strikes. According to some reports, such a decision was in play...[Western] public opinion was actively being prepared for it."

But the entry of a major Russian flotilla, led by the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier, into the Mediterranean may have been the essential element needed to cool the Pentagon's appetites, Evseev added.

Clinton campaign questions timing of FBI Marc Rich pardon records

denise rich clinton
© ReutersDenise Rich (L) presents former U.S. President Bill Clinton with a saxaphone at the G&P Foundation gala in New York City, in this file photo from November 30, 2000.
As reported moments ago, in what appears to have been a surprise release, the FBI's Vault twitter account released 129 pages of files related to the FBI's 2001 probe into Bill Clinton's 2001 pardon of Marc Rich.

And while NBC reported that the files were released as part of a normal subpoena, the increasingly paranoid (not without reason) Clinton campaign - and many others - immediately had questions. According to Politico, "Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign raised questions about the timing of the FBI's release Tuesday of records on a 15-year-old investigation into President Bill Clinton's pardon to fugitive financier Marc Rich."

The FBI posted the 129 pages of records in its online Freedom of Information Act reading room in apparent response to a FOIA request seeking information on FBI inquiries into the Clinton Foundation. On the website, the release was dated Monday, but an FBI Twitter account flagged the new posting at noon on Tuesday.

Comment: Loosely held secret: the FBI has open investigations on pretty much everyone involved in shady dealings in Washington. Well, that may be an exaggeration, but it's not far from the truth. For example, back in 2001 and 2002, they had an ongoing investigation into the following individuals (according to Sibel Edmonds, who worked on the cases): Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, Eric Edelman, Marc Grossman, Brent Snowcroft, Larry Franklin, Dennis Hastert, Roy Blunt, Dan Burton, Graham Fuller, and more. But despite the evidence collected, the investigation was never made public, and no indictments were issued. That requires a certain level of political "support", which basically amounts to permission. While the agents involved often want to see their targets do the perp walk, for their masters the investigations seem to be more a form of leverage than actual justice.

With that in mind, the WSJ revelations about ongoing investigations into the Clinton Foundation, Terry McCauliffe and Tony Podesta, among others - now this Marc Rich release - is very telling. It appears that the go-ahead has been given to throw Killary and her associates to the wolves. How far it goes remains to be seen.

Comment: RT provides some more background to the Marc Rich case:
Marc Rich was indicted in 1983 on federal charges of tax evasion and making illegal deals with Iran during an embargo. Rich responded to the charges by fleeing to Switzerland, where he remained until he was pardoned by Bill Clinton in the last hours of his presidency in January 2001.

The pardon was controversial, as Rich's ex-wife, Denise, had made donations exceeding $1 million to the Democratic Party, including a $450,000 donation to the William J. Clinton Presidential Center and Park.

Almost immediately after the pardon, the ex-president faced accusations that the pardon had been purchased in a quid-pro-quo move. Even his staunchest supporters struggled to defend it. Former President Jimmy Carter believed the last-minute pardon was "one of his most serious mistakes in the way he handled the pardon situation the last few hours he was in office," he told CBS News.

The notoriously genteel Carter went so far as to say, "I don't think there is any doubt that some of the factors in his pardon were attributable to his large gifts. In my opinion, that was disgraceful."
From Ryan Dawson's Welcome to the USSA:
Marc Rich was on Interpol's Ten Most Wanted list. He smuggled oil out of Iran to Israel while the US had an embargo against Iran during the hostage crisis. He made millions selling the oil and skipped out on not paying $48 million worth on just taxes alone. This is just what he was indicted for; his true crimes were far worse, many of them perverse and tied to Mafioso in Russia [i.e., notorious criminal oligarch Boris Berezovsky] in particular oil and aluminum trades. He gave enormous amounts of money to both of the Clintons.
Rich was also a spy for Israel's Mossad, the CIA, KGB and more. Israeli PM Ehud Barak "repeatedly cited Rich's contributions to Israel's 'national security' in phone calls to President Clinton ... in which he lobbied for Rich's pardon."

Assad calls out "black-and-white" US media for vilifying him and whitewashing terrorists as freedom fighters

Syrian President Bashar Assad called out Western media for vilifying him while at the same time whitewashing terrorists as "freedom fighters" to paint a "black-and-white" picture of the war in Syria, as he pledged to not leave office until his term expires.

Assad spoke on Syria's and his personal future as the country's leader at the meeting with US media that took place in Damascus on Monday evening.

Reflecting on being labeled a "war criminal" by the mainstream media, which attribute the death of thousands of civilians to the Syrian government's anti-terrorist campaign, he said that the support he still enjoys with the Syrian people after over five years into the conflict does not fit into this narrative.

"Let's suppose that these allegations are correct and this is a president who is killing his own people and committed crimes, and the 'free world' and the West is helping the Syrian people against the bad guy," Assad said, as cited by the New Yorker, adding that if this was the case, he would have lost all public support a long time ago.

"How can I be president if I am killing my people and my people are against me? This is disconnected from reality," Assad added. He pointed to a lack of media attention toward the terrorists' atrocities in Syria, with "no one talking about war crimes" committed by militants fighting against the Syrian Army.

Russia negotiating with Turkey on withdrawal of jihadis from Aleppo

General Valery Gerasimov
Russian and Turkish military chiefs meet in Moscow today as Russia publicly demands withdrawal of all jihadis from Aleppo.

Following the failure of the Al-Qaeda attempt to break the siege of the Jihadi held district of Aleppo, Russia's President Vladimir Putin is giving the Jihadis in eastern Aleppo what is effectively an ultimatum.

The terms of this ultimatum have been set out by General Valery Gerasimov, the Chief of the Russian military's General Staff:
"Taking into account that our American colleagues are incapable of separating the opposition from terrorists, we appeal to all the leaders of armed groups directly to stop combat actions and leave Aleppo with their arms."

Jill Stein says America forced to choose either 'proto-fascist' or 'corruption queen'

Jill Stein

Green Party presidential nominee Dr. Jill Stein has told RT that this year's presidential election is about choosing between two of the most disliked and least-trusted candidates ever, while calling for a real election with more than just two candidates.

"Voters are being intimidated into voting for the candidates that are the most disliked and untrusted in our history of presidential races," Dr. Stein told RT's Lindsay France on The FishTank on Tuesday, just one week ahead of the presidential election.

Most Americans may not be familiar with Stein, but she is well aware that voters want to know about all of their options, not just the candidates selected by the Republican and Democratic parties.

"My hope is to help inform and empower the American people to actually make choices, informed choices about our future," she said. "That's what democracy is supposed to be about."

Calling the two major parties' choices for 2016 "a proto-fascist and corruption queen," Stein vowed to work to disrupt the "very corrupt two-party system" after the election.

Comment: Unfortunately, Dr. Stein, like all third-party candidates, have the vast power of the Deep State opposing them. The Democrats and Republicans are merely two faces of one organization.

UK Defence Secretary reassures NATO war with Russia 'not likely' in 2017

Speculation that NATO could go to war with Russia next year are "too extreme," according to Britain's defence secretary, who maintained that such an apocalyptic scenario is "not likely" despite what he called "much greater Russian aggression this year."

Speaking to the House of Commons Defence Committee, Sir Michael Fallon, the UK's defence secretary, said that NATO and Russia are not on a collision course for war in 2017.

Comment: What a relief he can state the obvious.

When asked if the plot of a novel called 2017 War With Russia looks realistic, Fallon said the outlook expressed in the book was too extreme and solely that of its author, General Sir Richard Shirreff, NATO's former deputy Allied Commander in Europe, who was once the most senior European officer in the military alliance.

"Well, there are a lot of people writing books and trying to sell them, and his is a very good one. However, I don't agree that war with Russia is likely next year. I think that is too extreme," he said, as quoted by the Independent.

Zakharova to UK spy chief: 'Is Boris Johnson also a Kremlin puppet?'

Zakharova Andrew Parker MI5 russian puppet
© Sputnik / ReuterRussian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova (L), Andrew Parker the head of M15 (R).
After MI5 chief Andrew Parker accused Moscow of using underhanded tactics to destabilize Britain, the Russian Foreign Ministry's Zakharova hit back, asking if he also sees "the hand of the Kremlin in the appointment of Boris Johnson as head of the Foreign Office?"

In the first interview given by an MI5 chief in the 107 years of the spy agency's history, Parker spoke to the Guardian about an "increasingly aggressive" Russia, which uses "a whole range of state organs and powers" to achieve its ends, including "propaganda, espionage, subversion and cyber-attacks." Parker then went into vague descriptions of Russian actions in Syria and Ukraine, but offered no concrete evidence of the "high-volume" computer activity he spoke of.

Hours later, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, said in a Facebook post that she had been asked by the Guardian to comment on the allegations. She kept it short.

"I told the Guardian that I would like to ask the MI-5 chief... a clarifying question: 'Does he also see the hand of the Kremlin in the appointment of Boris Johnson as head of the Foreign Office?'"

Killary loses her robotic performance after heckler calls Bill a 'rapist'

Angry Hillary Clinton
Hillary Clinton raged Tuesday night against a protester at her rally who denounced her husband as a sexual predator.

About three minutes into her 20-minute stump speech, a heckler shouted, "Bill Clinton is a rapist!" as he waved a neon green sign declaring the same statement.

Clinton pointed a finger at the protester.

"I am sick and tired of the negative, dark, divisive, dangerous vision and the anger of people who support Donald Trump," Clinton shouted at her Fort Lauderdale, Fla. rally.

It's not uncommon for "rapist" protesters to show up at Clinton rallies, but the Democratic nominee offered a rare reaction.
