Media Blackout: House of Reps passes 'No-Fly Zone in Syria' bill during special session with rules suspended

Hillary Clinton's loss was a shock to the purveyors of U.S. military hegemony, who saw in her an easier path to keep the Syria conflict going. Secretary of State Clinton was instrumental in the early days of Syria intervention, in 2010 making a series of demands for Syria to get in line behind the U.S. vision for the Middle East.

When Bashar al-Assad refused to roll over, regime change became the talking point of Washington think tanks and mainstream media echo chambers. Clinton promised during her campaign to ramp up action in Syria, to the delight of the same neocons who brought the Iraq invasion. She acknowledged that many civilians would die if the U.S. set up a no-fly zone.

Establishment of a no-fly zone is the next crucial step toward full-scale war. It would mean Syrian planes could not fly in their own airspace and would bring the disturbing prospect of U.S. planes shooting down Russian planes — which are operating there on invitation from Syria to help battle ISIS.

Soon after the presidential election, key warmongers in Congress began formulating plans to make increased conflict a near certainty, complete with the kind of propaganda peddled before the Iraq attack. While everyone was distracted by the election of Trump, six representatives took advantage of the lame-duck session and suspended "normal rules" to bring us H.R. 5732.

The bully pretends at being the good guy: NATO's through the looking-glass world and its threats to Russia

NATO's Threats
© Ints Kalnins / ReutersNATO Force Integration Unit inauguration event in Vilnius, Lithuania
Let's suppose an enemy is out to get you. He bought houses on your street and amassed his armed gangs on the edge of your property, despite promising not to. He also attempted to ruin you financially, by trying to get businesses and banks not to deal with you.

You respond to this bullying by placing missiles in your garden and get your friends round to defend your house. Your enemy then plays the victim and accuses you of 'aggression' and trying to start a conflict.

Sounds like pretty outrageous behavior, don't you think? But that's exactly what NATO is doing today to Russia.

Last Sunday, 4,000 troops from the NATO alliance took part in operation 'Iron Sword 2016' in Lithuania, the largest such maneuvers to date. Also, 4,000 more troops are being deployed in Poland and the Baltic states.

Now, if I were a Russian citizen, I'd be pretty alarmed by NATO's Drang Nach Osten. The NATO deployments are after all the largest massing of foreign troops on Russia's borders since 1941, when the Nazis invaded and killed 27 million Russian and Soviet citizens. There's still quite a few Russians around who can remember those dark days and don't want them repeated.

Comment: The rank stupidity, greed and hubris of the neocon imperialist world-view is being laid bare now for all thinking people to see. With every desperate new lie and act of aggression they commit, more individuals are afforded the opportunity to wake up to the reality that is really a war against humanity.

Trump's message to the America people: 'It is up to us'

Trump
Did Donald Trump win the election because he is a racist and misogynist and so are the American people?

No. That's BS from the Oligarchs' well-paid whores in the media, "liberal progressive" activist groups, think tanks and universities.

Did Trump win because he stole the election?

More BS. The Oligarchs controlled the voting machines. They failed to steal the election, because the people outsmarted them and told the pollsters that they were voting for Hillary. This led to the presstitutes' propaganda that Hillary was the certain winner, and the Oligarchs believed their own propaganda and didn't believe it necessary to make certain of their victory.

Italian analyst condemns EU's anti-Russian legislation as 'fascist in true sense of the word'

Giulietto Chiesa

Translated by Tom Winter - intellegonews.it

Giulietto Chiesa, interviewed by Amerigo Mascarucci

"Fascists. They are fascist in the true sense of the word. They want to prevent freedom of the press and impose a censorship on the eurosceptical positions."

The journalist Giulietto Chiesa interviewed by Intelligonews thus attacks the 304 MEPs in Strasbourg that approved the resolution against Russia, accusing it of supporting anti-European parties with a strong line of propaganda to divide the EU.

The document approved by the Europarliament claims: "The Kremlin uses think tanks, multilingual tv, pseudo-wire services and social media to challenge democratic values and divide Europe"

Fifteen European countries, headed by Germany, have issued a statement pushing for the reopening of "a new structured dialogue" with Russia aimed at preventing a possible arms race in Europe, according to the German foreign minister.

The countries, all belonging to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), have expressed their deep concern over the current situation in Europe and support the relaunch of a conventional arms treaty with Russia, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier told Die Welt newspaper in an interview published on Friday.

"Europe's security is in danger. As difficult as ties to Russia may currently be, we need more dialogue, not less," Steinmeier said.

I have to admit I'm quite honored to see that Liberty Blitzkrieg was recently included on a list of some of the most illustrious, impactful and successful alternative news websites on the planet. The list was created by an anonymous group of status quo crybabies who simply can't handle the fact their beloved chosen oligarch was defeated in a democratically held election by Donald Trump (who I didn't even support). As such, they are lashing out at alternative news outlets deemed most effective in countering the smothering and nonsensical pro-Hillary narrative tirelessly propagated by the fake mainstream news media.

The group in question calls itself PropOrNot, and self-describes in the following manner:
PropOrNot is an independent team of concerned American citizens with a wide range of backgrounds and expertise, including professional experience in computer science, statistics, public policy, and national security affairs. We are currently volunteering time and skills to identify propaganda - particularly Russian propaganda - targeting a U.S. audience. We collect public-record information connecting propaganda outlets to each other and their coordinators abroad, analyze what we find, act as a central repository and point of reference for related information, and organize efforts to oppose it.

We formed PropOrNot as an effort to prevent propaganda from distorting U.S. political and policy discussions. We hope to strengthen our cultural immune systems against hostile influence and improve public discourse generally. However, our immediate aim at this point is to empower the American voter and decrease the ability of Russia to influence the ensuing American election.

Comment: The mainstream news sites' attack dogs are coming out. One hopes this is their last gasp.

'Ladies and gentlemen, It's Showtime!': The dangerous deception called the Trump Presidency

Donald Trump
Donald Trump
The project called the Trump Presidency has just two months before its formal beginning. Yet already the hopes and fantasies of much of the world are making him into something and someone Donald Trump most definitely is not. Donald Trump is yet another project of the same boring old patriarchs who try again and again to create a one world order that they control absolutely, a New World Order that one close Trump backer once referred to as universal fascism. Ignore the sometimes fine rhetoric in some of his speeches. Talk is cheap. If we consider rather the agenda that's taking form even in these very early days of cabinet naming, we can see that Donald Trump is the same agenda of war and global empire as Obama, as Bush before him, as Bill Clinton and Clinton's "tutor", George H.W. Bush before him. There is no good side to what the world is about to experience with President Trump.

'Ladies and gentlemen, It's Showtime!' Today we give you Donald Trump. He will tell you just what many of you want to hear. Trump the showman will tell you he will make America great again; Trump will say he will ship at least 3 million illegals back across the Rio Grande; Trump will introduce a bill to declare the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization; Trump will bring jobs back to America from China and other low wage countries; Trump will sit down with Putin and work out some kind of a deal to calm things down; Trump will scrap the Iran nuclear deal of Obama...

Often during this election campaign, which was more a Hollywood "D" grade movie than any honest debate of policies and ideas candidate Trump made statements that resonated with the "silent majority" of not only so-called blue collar workers, but also the disenfranchised middle class whose earnings have been declining in real terms since the 1970's. Trump, like an earlier actor-President named Ronald Reagan, has a talent to make himself sound sincere.

Is Trump a Grassroots Revolution?

We should not imagine for one second that the Patriarchy - those loveless old men like David Rockefeller or George Herbert Walker Bush or unnamed others - were so overwhelmed by the political genius of candidate Trump emerging from every scandal more powerful than before, that they were surprised, out-foxed, and just groaned and let it happen.

The Trump Presidency has been planned in minute detail by them and their think tanks. Quite simply, had they continued the policies that Hillary Clinton represented - war and confrontation against Russia, against China, with Color Revolution destabilizations of any and all political leaders who opposed them whether Ghaddafi or Mubarak or even Putin - they saw they were losing power over huge parts of the world, essential geopolitical power.

Comment: An interesting thesis by Engdahl that is long on crystal ball gazing and political catastrophism and short on any real evidence to back such up. It also misses the fact that, in a war between Russia and/or China and the USA, there will be no winners. His theory can be summed up with his statement:
It's classic Kissinger Balance of Power geopolitics - seem to ally with the weaker of two mortal enemies, Russia, to isolate the stronger, China. Presumably Vladimir Putin is not so naïve or stupid as to fall for it, but that is the plot of Trump's handlers. Such a strategy of preventing the growing Russia-China cooperation was urged by Zbigniew Brzezinski in a statement this past summer.
Where, as you can see, he admits that all such plotting will likely come to naught due to the perspicacity of Putin. As such, why go to such lengths to flesh out an implausible scenario?

We seem to recall that Engdahl also misjudged the status of the geopolitical chessboard in the recent past, most notably his scaremongering over a hot nuclear war between Russia and the USA.

Washington Post blasted online for article accusing Russia of 'sophisticated' US election propaganda, claim on CNN that Russia funded Brexit

The Washington Post
was blasted on social media for its latest hit-piece claiming a "sophisticated [Russian] propaganda campaign" influenced the US presidential election. Citing a Cold War think tank and an anonymous 'anti-propaganda' group, the piece used the word 'propaganda' 20 times.

The article references "independent researchers" who determined that Russian state media, including RT and Sputnik, produced misleading articles online with the purpose of "punishing Hillary Clinton, helping Republican Donald Trump and undermining faith in American democracy".

The Twitterati were quick to accuse the media outlet, acquired by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos in 2013, of hypocrisy.

Comment: Dear reader, how best to describe this Washington-inspired phenomena in a single word or phrase?! Something other than 'delusional' or 'Russophobia on steroids,' please. The various flavors of fake news about Venezuela

The wife of right-wing opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez, Lilian Tintori
© EFEThe wife of right-wing opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez, Lilian Tintori speaks to the press.
Impossible to escape bombardment by the U.S government's perspective on Venezuela.

An article by William Finnegan published November 14 in the New Yorker (Venezuela: A Failing State) is similar to an error-riddled piece that Jon Lee Anderson wrote in 2013. It is padded with extraneous and anecdotal details that will give unwary readers the impression that the author has diligently researched. The article begins by marveling at the courage of a medical student who called President Maduro an "asshole" and "donkey" and who didn't mind his name being used — as if Maduro were not attacked and ridiculed constantly in Venezuela's TV and print media.

In a few other instances, Finnegan also insinuates that criticizing the government takes great courage and that very few people dare to do it publicly. He described the far right newspaper El Nacional as "one of the last independent national dailies still standing" after "years of government assault on the press."

Price of gold buckles under mighty dollar rally

Gold prices have fallen to a nine-and-a-half month low as the US dollar continues to rally to its strongest level against major currencies in nearly 14 years. Spot gold was down 0.4 percent at $1,178 per ounce by 6:04am GMT. US gold futures dropped 1.4 percent to $1,172, after touching its lowest point since the beginning of February at $1,170 per ounce.

Lifted by American bond yields, the dollar rose to an eight-month high against the yen. "The dollar has been really strong this morning and is pushing high. The Shanghai arbitrage is trading a $25 dollar premium, which seems to be suggesting that there is selling from Asia rather than buying," said an investment bank trader commenting on the dollar run, as quoted by Reuters.

The precious metal crashed in November due to investor concerns over President-elect Donald Trump's promises to boost infrastructure spending and revive the economy. The move pushed US equities to record highs. The prospect of tightening monetary policy by the US Federal Reserve is also strengthening the US currency.

"After Trump won the presidential election, the market sentiment has been changing dramatically. Gold is being pushed down by the stronger dollar and an interest rate rise. Investors are looking to buy more risky assets rather than gold as a safe haven," said Tetsu Emori, president of Emori Capital Management as quoted by Bloomberg. The 10-year Treasury yield gained about 3 basis points to 2.382 percent from the previous close on Wednesday.

"The dollar is firm and triggering some selling. There were some stops around $1,180, and they were all taken," said Ronald Leung, chief dealer at Lee Cheong Gold Dealers in Hong Kong, stressing that there had been some physical buying, but it didn't help the precious metal. Spot gold is expected to drop to $1,172 an ounce, as the support at $1,184 does not look to hold, according to Reuter's technical analyst Wang Tao.

Comment: Apparently, with the rise of the dollar, all that glitters is not necessarily gold. It is anybody's guess how long the dollar will be able to maintain this hard fought position.
