British PM Theresa May banal responses to UK challenges and threats show she's simply not up to the job

theresa may
When a British Prime Minister three days before a general election faces a call to resign, and the opposition leader who makes the call is not heaped with ridicule by the whole country and the media, then something for that Prime Minister has gone seriously wrong. That is the situation Theresa May faces today.

The proximate cause is the London terror attack, with Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn criticising Prime Minister for cutting police numbers whilst Home Secretary despite the rising threat from ISIS, and claiming that this has exposed Britain to terrorist attacks.

There is a basis of fact in this claim. Former Prime Minister David Cameron appointed Theresa May Home Secretary after he won the British general election in May 2010, and she remained Home Secretary until she succeeded David Cameron as Prime Minister in July 2016. Between September 2010 and September 2016 - ie. during the period when Theresa May was Home Secretary - total police numbers in Britain fell by 13%, with around a third of the decrease accounted for by police officers authorised to carry firearms.

Hypocrisy: US 'looking carefully' at role of UN Human Rights Council over 'chronic anti-Israel bias'

The United States envoy to the UN, Nikki Haley, says the Trump administration is "looking carefully" at its role on the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) due to its stance on Israel.

Speaking at the Geneva forum Tuesday afternoon, Haley condemned the council's "chronic anti-Israel bias," adding that the US sees "some areas for significant strengthening," according to Reuters.

Haley criticized the UNHRC for failing to issue resolutions against Venezuela for violations of human rights. She said it was "hard to accept" that no resolutions have been considered against the administration of President Nicolas Maduro when five had been passed against Israel.

She said the South American country "should step down from its seat on the human rights council until it can get its own house in order."

Comment: The same could be argued for the United States: Civilian deaths in US strikes in Syria & Iraq are 'greatest catastrophe since WWII'

Mounting terror attacks in Britain are a stain on May's leadership

London arrests terror plots
The third terrorist attack in a row hitting Britain in less than three month resulted in the deaths of seven people, leaving some 48 more injured. This time terrorists adopted the same strategy that was used in the attack of March 22, running a vehicle into a crowd, then attacking more people with knives later on. The minibus hit pedestrians in the London Bridge area, which connects the city with the Southwark area on the right bank. Once the car stopped in the area of a major tourist attraction - the Boro Market, terrorists decided to use large hunting knives in an attempt to kill more people.

Yet, this time this wasn't a lone wolf attack, as a total of three suspects were involved in the attack.

Undoubtedly, the British government, and Teresa May personally, are bound to give an explanation as to what caused this wave of terrorism in the United Kingdom, and how British intelligence services could have missed it.

Islamic State propaganda targets Iran Sunnis with little success

Islamic State propaganda Iran
In March, IS published a rare video in Persian in which it called on Iran's Sunni minority to rise up against the Shi'a-dominated Iranian establishment.
The Islamic State (IS) extremist group has recently expanded its campaign to recruit Iranians and disseminate its message to Persian speakers.

In late March, IS published a rare video in Persian in which it called on Iran's Sunni minority to rise up against the Shi'a-dominated Iranian establishment. The video was dismissed by Iran's state broadcaster as "nonsense" and an attempt by the group to cover up mounting losses in Iraq.

Since then, IS has published four issues of its online propaganda publication Rumiyah. Rumiyah, whose title means Rome in Arabic in an allusion to prophecies that Muslims would conquer the West, is already published in several languages, including English, Russian, French, and Indonesian.

Iran has deployed senior military advisers and thousands of "volunteers" in the past six years to help regional ally Syrian President Bashar al-Assad battle an armed insurrection that includes IS and other Islamist fighters as well as groups supported by Turkey and the United States.

Afghanistan will host a multinational peace conference in Kabul on June 6, as the country reels from a wave of bombings and unrest that has left more than 100 people dead and hundreds wounded in the past week.

The one-day conference, labelled the "Kabul Process," will include representatives of around two dozen countries, including the United States, India, China, and Pakistan.

"The Kabul Process is meant to reach a consensus with the region and the world for peace in Afghanistan," said presidential spokesman Shah Hussain Murtazawi.

50th anniversary of the Six-Day War: Netanyahu says Israel will keep military control of West Bank in any case

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to keep the Israeli military control of territories seized during the 1967 Six-Day War with the agreement with Palestinians or "without reaching it at all."

Israel will keep military control of West Bank's Jordan valley, captured as a result of the 1967 Six-Day War, in any scenario of the conflict resolution with Palestinians, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday.

"We are seeking peace with our neighbors, the real peace, which will survive generations. That is why, we will keep military control of all the territories to the west of the Jordan river with the agreement or without reaching it at all," Netanyahu said at a ceremony devoted to the 50th anniversary of the Six-Day War beginning.

Palestinians should recognize Israel as the Jewish state, as it is "the basis for reaching peace," Netanyahu added.

Comment: Netanyahu is a belligerent con man. There will never be peace as long as Israel occupies Palestine.

Elite confrontation at Bilderberg 2017

Police at Bilderberg meeting
While President Trump seems to have sorted out his problems of interior authority - more or less - the conflict has now moved on to concern NATO. Washington is currently speaking against the manipulation of terrorism, while London has no intention of giving up such a useful tool for the extension of its influence. The Bilderberg Group, initially organized as a sounding board for the Alliance, has just been the stage for a difficult debate between the partisans and the adversaries of imperialism in the Middle East.

There exist no photographs of the meeting of the Bilderberg Group, whose work is confidential. Security for the meeting is not handled by the FBI, nor the Virginia police force, but by a private militia organized by NATO.

Comment: Corbett Report has more on the Bilderberg meeting:

What do we know about the secret, behind-closed-door globalist soiree that was Bilderberg 2017 in Chantilly, Virginia? Only what the Bilderbergers told us, and we know they're lying to us about who is in attendance so why should we trust them about anything? This year James breaks down what we were and weren't told about what was happening at Bilderberg, and what other globalist conferences might be worth keeping our eye on.

How to burn a source, or why you shouldn't trust the Intercept

intercept greenwald scahill poitras
Yesterday The Intercept published a leaked five page NSA analysis about alleged Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. elections. Its reporting outed the leaker of the NSA documents. That person, R.L. Winner, has now been arrested and is likely to be jailed for years if not for the rest of her life.

FBI search (pdf) and arrest warrant (pdf) applications unveil irresponsible behavior by The Intercept's reporters and editors which neglected all operational security trade-craft that might have prevented the revealing of the source. It leaves one scratching the head if this was intentional or just sheer incompetence. Either way - the incident confirms what skeptics had long determined: The Intercept is not a trustworthy outlet for leaking state secrets of public interests.

The Intercept was created to privatize the National Security Agency documents leaked by NSA contractor Edward Snowden. The documents proved that the NSA is hacking and copying nearly all electronic communication on this planet, that it was breaking laws that prohibited spying on U.S. citizen and that it sabotages on a large scale various kinds of commercial electronic equipment. Snowden gave copies of the NSA documents to a small number of journalists. One of them was Glenn Greenwald who now works at The Intercept. Only some 5% of the pages Snowden allegedly acquired and gave to reporters have been published. We have no idea what the unpublished pages would provide.

DOJ charges 25yo govt contractor for leaking NSA doc to Intercept, could get 10 years

Reality Leigh Winner

A federal contractor for a US intelligence agency has allegedly admitted to copying classified materials and sending it to a news source. The charges reportedly stem from the publishing of top secret NSA documents by The Intercept.

The FBI arrested Reality Leigh Winner, 25, at her Georgia home on Saturday, according to a Monday news release from the US Department of Justice. Winner has been charged with "removing classified material from a government facility and mailing it to a news outlet."

"Releasing classified material without authorization threatens our nation's security and undermines public faith in government. People who are trusted with classified information and pledge to protect it must be held accountable when they violate that obligation," said Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein.

Comment: Way to protect your sources, Intercept! As for Winner herself, she was born in 1991, and worked for the air force since January 2013, holding top-secret security clearance (i.e., when she was 21 years old). As a linguist she spoke Pashto, Farsi and Dari, which she apparently learned on her own. She had only been working at the Georgia NSA facility since February 13 of this year.

Winner was also apparently a Democrackpot, believing that Russia was going to take over the U.S. with Trump as president. At least, that's what she joked on Facebook, writing: "When we become the United States of the Russian Federation, Olympic lifting will be the national sport." (She's a weightlifter.) She appears to have been a fan of Bernie Sanders, Bill Maher, Anderson Cooper and Michael Moore. She's also a global warming believer. Most curiously, her Facebook profile indicates that she visited the White House on April 30, 2016, a year before she leaked the NSA doc.

The Kremlin denies the report's allegations: "The claim is absolutely detached from reality. We have not seen any additional information or heard arguments in favor of that information's credibility," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday.

If George Soros is the answer to the EU crisis then what on earth is the question?

George Soros
© Pascal Lauener / Reuters
Just as a stopped clock is right twice a day, George Soros, a man who's done more to destabilize countries with a checkbook than entire armies have with tanks and missiles, is right in his assertion that the EU is in crisis.

Mr. Soros addressed the crisis that has engulfed the EU in a speech to the Brussels Economic Forum on June 1. It was an ambitious speech, one that saw the Hungarian billionaire make a foray into the history of the EU, accurately crediting the vision of European integration to the French businessman and diplomat Jean Monnet. He saw the need to bind in particular France and Germany into an economic union and, in time, political union to forestall the prospect of both countries becoming embroiled in any more devastating conflicts, along the lines of the First and Second World Wars.

Where Mr. Soros goes off the rails it is in his depiction of the Soviet Union as a threat to Western Europe after the Second World War, asserting that: "After the Second World War, Western Europe was rebuilt with the help of the Marshall Plan, but it was still threatened by the Soviet Union, which occupied the eastern part of the continent."
