Sara Netanyahu, the wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is to be charged with fraud over allegedly misspending public funds at a time when her husband is also a suspect in two corruption cases, Israel's Haaretz daily reports.

Attorney General Avichai Mendelblit is expected to indict Mrs. Netanyahu, the prime minister's third wife, in the coming weeks, Haaretz reports, citing its sources. She is accused of diverting 400,000 shekels ($112,000) from government funds for her private housekeeping needs.

She reportedly threw lavish dinner parties at the prime minister's residence, improperly ordered chef's meals in violation of the residence regulations and later concealed these facts. One of the most serious accusations against her involves hiring an electrician by circumventing the required tender process, the Times of Israel reports.

The electrician, Avi Fahima, who was also a member of the Central Committee of Netanyahu's Likud Party, was hired despite the Prime Minister's Legal Office ruling against it. He was also reportedly paid some $2,500 from public funds for the work he did at Netanyahu's private residence in the town of Caesarea, according to the i24news TV Channel.

Obama was responsible for the decision to exonerate Killary, not Comey

Obama and Comey

The thing to understand, what has always been the most important thing to understand, is that Jim Comey was out in front, but he was not calling the shots.

On the right, the commentariat is in full-throttle outrage over the revelation that former FBI Director Comey began drafting his statement exonerating Hillary Clinton in April 2016 - more than two months before he delivered the statement at his now famous July 5 press conference.

The news appears in a letter written to new FBI Director Christopher Wray by two senior Senate Judiciary Committee Republicans, Chairman Chuck Grassley and Senator Lindsey Graham. Pundits and the Trump administration are shrieking because this indicates the decision to give the Democrats' nominee a pass was clearly made long before the investigation was over, and even long before key witnesses, including Clinton herself, were interviewed.

It shows, they cry, that the fix was in!

News Flash: This is not news.

NATO to discuss dropping INF Treaty and planning for nuclear war in Europe

Gorbachev Reagan INF
US President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev signing the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty on 8 December 1987.
Amid mounting military and diplomatic tensions between the US and Russia, the German daily Süddeutsche Zeitung reported Friday that the American Congress has taken the first steps toward Washington's annulling of the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty.

The INF, or Washington Treaty on Mid-range Nuclear Systems, is a bilateral agreement reached between the United States and the Soviet Union on the decommissioning of short- and mid-range missiles (with a range of between 500 and 5,500 miles), and the banning of their production.

The treaty, signed on 8 December 1987 by US President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, led to a significant reduction of US nuclear weapons in Europe. The nuclear-armed mid-range Pershing II missiles, whose stationing in Western Europe five years earlier had triggered the largest peace demonstrations to that point in history, were withdrawn.

The danger now is "that the US will construct new missiles and station them in Europe," warned the Süddeutsche Zeitung. A major shift would be set "into motion" and Europe would stand "on the brink of a new nuclear era ... nuclear mid-range missiles were the horror of the Cold War ... thirty years on, the spectre has returned."

Flashback The Rohingya Psyops: Waging Covert War on Myanmar

Comment: The following article on the conflict in Rakhine state, Myanmar, was published earlier this year, and with the recent flare-up in the region, and the subsequent international protests against the wholesale slaughter of Muslims that are allegedly taking place there, its insights and perspective on this issue are timely.

san suu kyi protest
Once a darling of Western liberals, Aung San Suu Kyi's star has fallen because she won't support international condemnation of the Burmese government.
The United Nations has accused the Government of Myanmar of committing 'genocide' against the Rohingya Muslim minority in the country's troubled Rakhine State. In recent weeks the crisis in Myanmar has escalated, with human rights groups and NGOs publishing copious denunciations of the alleged human rights abuses and mass murder committed by the Myanmar Armed Forces, (Tatmadaw). The Myanmar government claims that they are fighting a war on terrorism against forces which seek to destabilise the state, Islamist forces in particular. They also claim that the so-called ethnic minority commonly referred to as 'Rohingya' are really illegal East Bengali immigrants.

Despite thousands of serious allegations of rape, pillage and mass murder committed by these Bengali immigrants in Myanmar, human rights groups and the 'international community' have blamed all the violence on the Burmese authorities. Who are the Rohingya and why have they now become the focus of international attention? Why has the position of the Burmese authorities been ignored or dismissed? What geopolitical objectives could be behind an attempt to destabilise the country, as Burmese authorities have alleged?

China moves on New World Order: Will buy oil with gold-backed currency—Bypassing US petrodollar

In a direct challenge to U.S. imperialism, China's yuan-denominated contracts - backed by gold -will let oil exporting countries bypass using the U.S. petrodollar.

In an effort to hedge against U.S. hegemony, and what could be a global game-changer, the world's top oil importer, China, is preparing to denominate crude oil futures contracts in Chinese yuan to be convertible into gold. The move would allow oil exporting countries to bypass benchmarks denominated in U.S. petrodollars - creating what will almost certainly be the most critical Asian oil benchmark, according to a report by Nikkei Asian Review.

Typically, crude oil is priced in relation to Brent or West Texas Intermediate futures, both denominated in U.S. dollars.

Russia-gate's groupthink totalitarian style

New York times propaganda
It is a basic rule from Journalism 101 that when an allegation is in serious doubt - or hasn't been established as fact - you should convey that uncertainty to your reader by using words like "alleged" or "purportedly." But The New York Times and pretty much the entire U.S. news media have abandoned that principle in their avid pursuit of Russia-gate.

When Russia is the target of an article, the Times typically casts aside all uncertainty about Russia's guilt, a pattern that we've seen in the Times in earlier sloppy reporting about other "enemy" countries, such as Iraq or Syria, as well Russia's involvement in Ukraine's civil war. Again and again, the Times regurgitates highly tendentious claims by the U.S. government as undeniable truth.

So, despite the lack of publicly provided evidence that the Russian government did "hack" Democratic emails and slip them to WikiLeaks to damage Hillary Clinton and help Donald Trump, the Times continues to treat those allegations as flat fact.

The Korea issue can very well be handled at BRICS summit

Putin North Korea
Whether by design or coincidence, the proximate timing of North Korea's nuclear test and the BRICS summit is extremely relevant.

While reading into the internal political decisions of North Korea is far from easy, one gets a decidedly better perspective when one assesses North Korean decisions in a broader regional context.

Today's apparent subterranean detention of a nuclear weapon by Pyongyang, a weapon which is widely thought to be a hydrogen bomb, coincides with the commencement of the 9th annual BRICS Summit in Xiamen, China.

Vladimir Putin on BRICS: Towards New Horizons of Strategic Partnership

putin writing desk
The 9th BRICS Summit will be held in Xiamen, China, on September 4 and 5. I consider it important in this regard to present Russia's approaches to cooperation within the framework of this large and respected association and to share my views on the future of our further cooperation.

I would like to begin by expressing our appreciation of China's significant contribution as this year's chair of the organisation, which has allowed the BRICS countries as a group to move forward in all the key areas of our partnership, including politics, the economy and culture. Moreover, the group of five has greatly strengthened its global standing.

It is important that our group's activities are based on the principles of equality, respect for one another's opinions and consensus. Within BRICS, nothing is ever forced on anyone. When the approaches of its members do not coincide, we work patiently and carefully to coordinate them. This open and trust-based atmosphere is conducive to the successful implementation of our tasks.

Russia highly values the multifaceted cooperation that has developed within BRICS. Our countries' constructive cooperation in the international arena is aimed at creating a fair multipolar world and equal development conditions for all.

North Korea is 'begging for war': Haley tells UN 'the time for half-measures is over'

Nikki Haley
U.S. United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley is escalating the rhetoric from Trump's "we'll see" comment and aggressive tweets as she tells an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council, that "enough is enough" and that North Korea's leader, Kim Jong Un, is "begging for war" with his "abusive use of missiles."

Haley admonished the council, urging the "strongest possible" response...
"The time for half measures in the security council is over. The time has come to exhaust all of our diplomatic means before it is too late.

We must now adopt the strongest possible measures. Kim Jong Un's action cannot be seen as defensive."
Just last month, the 15-member Security Council unanimously adopted new sanctions to slash by a third Pyongyang's US$3 billion annual export revenue, which could be channeled to fund its nuclear and ballistic missile programs.

Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping pledge to peacefully deal with North Korea

Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin
Xi Jinping, President of China and Vladimir Putin, President of Russia
China and Russia remain committed to peace.

Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, the Presidents of Russia and China, respectively, have met during the BRICS summit in Xiamen and pledged to hold firm to the so-called 'double-freeze' plan to ease tensions in Korea which was first drafted in May of this year during a series of bilateral meetings between Russian and Chinese officials from the public and private sectors in Moscow.

A report from Xinhua states:
"The two leaders agreed to stick to the goal of denuclearize on the Korean Peninsula and keep close communication and coordination to deal with the new situation."
Earlier the Foreign Ministries of Russia and China released statements affirming a joint commitment to de-escalation on the Korean peninsula.
