Best of the Web: What You're Not Hearing From The U.S. Media About North Korea's Missile Tests

Kim in North Korea
Here's what the media isn't telling you about North Korea's recent missile tests.

Last Monday, the DPRK fired a Hwasong-12 intermediate-range ballistic missile over Japan's Hokkaido Island. The missile landed in the waters beyond the island harming neither people nor property.

The media immediately condemned the test as a "bold and provocative act" that showed the North's defiance of UN resolutions and "contempt for its neighbors." President Trump sharply criticized the missile test saying:
"Threatening and destabilizing actions only increase the North Korean regime's isolation in the region and among all nations of the world. All options are on the table."
What the media failed to mention was that, for the last three weeks, Japan, South Korea and the US have been engaged in large-scale joint-military drills on Hokkaido Island and in South Korea. These needlessly provocative war games are designed to simulate an invasion of North Korea and a "decapitation" operation to remove (Re: Kill) the regime. North Korea's supreme leader, Kim Jong-un has asked the US repeatedly to end these military exercises, but the US has stubbornly refused. The US reserves the right to threaten anyone, anytime and anywhere even right on their doorstep. It's part of what makes the US exceptional. Check out this excerpt from an article at Fox News:

What is The Deep State?

deep state
Rome lived upon its principal till ruin stared it in the face. Industry is the only true source of wealth, and there was no industry in Rome. By day the Ostia road was crowded with carts and muleteers, carrying to the great city the silks and spices of the East, the marble of Asia Minor, the timber of the Atlas, the grain of Africa and Egypt; and the carts brought out nothing but loads of dung. That was their return cargo.

— The Martyrdom of Man, by Winwood Reade (1871)
One of the ancillary benefits of Donald Trump's insurgence into the US political scene has been a forceful injection of realism into the national political discourse. One of those points of discussion is centered around the concept of a 'state within a state,' commonly referred to as the Deep State. It's suddenly become an acceptable mainstream idea, but prior to the 2016 election cycle, that conversation was strictly a fringe affair, mostly relegated to the realms of 'conspiracy' forums and alternative media. but now its written and spoken about as a mainstream

One of the most coherent articulations of this idea originated from a former US Congressional staffer turned best-selling author, Mike Lofgren. In his book, The Deep State, he outlines the shape and structure of this seemingly invisible 'state within a state,' but unlike the establishment media's innocuous commentary, Lofgren also delivers a incisive moral verdict on this power transition and explains how it's not only eviscerating the fabric of democracy and the foundations of the Constitutional Republic, but more importantly how it's destroying society.

2017 BRICS Declaration based on an ideology-free model of global economic cooperation and development

2017 BRICS
The leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, as well as observing heads of state from Egypt, Thailand, Mexico, Tajikistan and others, have just completed their first full working day at the 9th Annual BRICS summit in Xiaman, China.

Earlier in the day, the summit's host, President Xi Jingping outlined the three main goals of the BRICS.

The Chinese President stated,
"I believe there are three important practices that should be carried forward".
  • First, treating each other as equals and seeking common ground while shelving differences.
  • Second, taking a results-oriented, innovative approach to make our cooperationbenefit all. BRICS is not a talking shop, but a task force that gets things done.
  • Third, developing ourselves to help others with the well-being of the world in our mind. Having gone through an arduous course of development, we BRICS countries share the agony of those people who are still caught in chaos and poverty.

The BRICS Finance Committee is discussing a joint virtual currency for the five nation bloc of developing economies, according to the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) chief Kirill Dmitriev.

During the BRICS Summit in Xiamen, Dmitriev told journalists that Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa could develop its own alternative to other payment tools.

"While there is a focus on settlements in national currencies, cryptocurrencies are also being discussed as one of the possible settlement mechanisms," Dmitriev explained.

He added that within BRICS cryptocurrencies could replace the US dollar and other currencies used in settlements among the member states.

Political analyst Jim Hoft: Democrats tied their horse to Soros' causes & he's pulling strings in background

Thousands of Americans continue to sign the petition, which calls on the US government to declare billionaire George Soros a domestic terrorist and strip him of all of his assets. It has reached the threshold needed for an official response by the White House.

In the petition, the activists accuse the investor of trying to "destabilize" the United States through organizations founded and sponsored by the billionaire. According to the activists, Soros' organizations aim to "facilitate the collapse of the systems and constitutional government." The signatories of the petition ask the US government to confiscate all personal and organizational wealth controlled by George Soros under the Civil Asset Forfeiture law.

Jim Hoft, an American writer and political activist, as well as the founder of the blog Gateway Pundit, explained to Sputnik Radio what developments in the US came as a direct result of the influence of the 87-year-old billionaire.

"Soros today has a huge impact on the Democratic Party in the US; there are so many of his pictures with Barack Obama and with the Clintons. The Democratic Party is extremely influenced with the radical decisions of George Soros because he is a 'big money man' and gives much money for his causes," he told Sputnik.

The aim of George Soros is to destabilize the system in the US, he went on to say. When Donald Trump was elected he was behind all those marches and some of these groups which were posting editorials to drive out the "Trump regime". He wanted to destabilize America, change America.

He is for opening borders, Jim Hoft said. He is also suspected of pushing the open borders initiative in Europe which has led to a catastrophic immigration influx. He is against maintaining strong US external borders and the arrival of more migrants into the US.

Cambodia's US-backed opposition leader Sokha charged with treason

Kem Sokha and John Kerry
US and European media decried in unison the arrest of Kem Sokha, leader of the Cambodian opposition party, Cambodia National Rescue. Sokha is charged with treason amid an alleged plot to overthrow the current Cambodian government with foreign assistance.

The Guardian in its article, "Cambodia's strongman PM digs in with arrest of opposition leader," would report:
The Cambodian opposition leader, Kem Sokha, has been arrested accused of treason, according to the government, in the latest of a flurry of legal cases lodged against critics and rivals of the strongman prime minister, Hun Sen.

The surprise arrest raises the stakes as Hun Sen's political opponents, NGOs and the critical press are smothered by court cases and threats ahead of a crunch general election in 2018.
The Guardian would also note:
On Saturday night a pro-government website - Fresh News - alleged that Kem Sokha had discussed overthrowing Hun Sen with support from the United States.
The Guardian would conclude by stating:
Last week the US expressed "deep concern" over the state of Cambodia's democracy after the government there ordered out an American NGO and pursued a crackdown on independent media.

Among the media in the firing line is the well-respected Cambodia Daily, which often criticizes the government.

It faces closure on Monday if it fails to pay a US$6.3m tax bill, a threat it says is a political move to muzzle its critical reporting.

Bad Guys

The rise and expansion of the Deep State

government meeting
While many in the United States firmly believe that the government just isn't working, it is. But it's only working for the powerful and rich elites in the government and the media who have a desire to cling to their oppressive control of others and the money many are willing to allow them to steal.

The fight has never been between the republicans and the democrats. As Americans choose sides, their rights and freedoms are sold to the highest bidder. According to Intellectual Takeout, the fight is between "us" and the deep state; not those on the right and those on the left. More and more often we are seeing bureaucrats, lobbyists, and elected officials of both parties circle the wagons in an effort to prevent any true reforms of the government. They constantly write laws they exclude themselves from, come up with inventive ways to tax us to our breaking point and destroy the healthcare system. And this is all by design.

According to Joost Meerloo in his seminal book The Rape of the Mind, the author discusses the psychology of brainwashing that's allowing every American to succumb to tyranny right before their eyes and not only not realize it, but beg for more oppression. "The burning psychological question is whether man will eventually master his institutions so that these will serve him and not rule him," said Meerloo in his discussion of the Deep State or the "administrative machine" published in 1956.

What BRICS Summit, Kim just stole the show!

Kim Jong-Un
North Korea's hydrogen bomb test threatens to overshadow China's BRICS Summit and compel Beijing to instrumentalize its vital aid as a punishment against its neighbor in order to save face before the international community, thereby falling into a dangerous trap that the US may have set for it.

Kim Jong-Un conducted his country's sixth nuclear test, this time experimenting with an ICBM-capable hydrogen bomb that's reportedly the strongest munition that it's ever wielded. Analysts had been warning that a move such as this could have been expected for some time, but it nevertheless caught observers off guard that it occurred right on the eve of China's BRICS Summit in Xiamen.

This fact alone disproves the Mainstream Media-promulgated lie that North Korea is purportedly China's puppet, since Beijing in no way approves of what just happened and is actually incensed that the young Kim is trying to steal the spotlight during the most important event that the People's Republic has hosted all year. Just a few months ago during the Belt and Road Summit, Kim did the same thing, except that time he provocatively test-fired a missile instead.

Tory MEP 'ashamed to be British' after Brexit and gets Irish passport

An angry Tory MEP has said he is "ashamed to be British" after Brexit and has successfully obtained an Irish passport. He also attacked his party's "arrogance, hubris and petty nationalism" after the EU referendum vote.

Hampshire-born Charles Tannock, the Conservative MEP for London, said he was a "pretty angry pro-European Tory" and a "passionate Remainer."

With a Dublin-born grandmother, Tannock applied for an Irish passport in the wake of the EU referendum result, and it has now been granted. Under Irish law, anyone who has a grandparent born in Ireland can obtain citizenship.

Tannock said his interest in his Irish past was always at the back of his mind but has now been reignited.

"It has been awakened by Brexit because, to be honest, I am quite ashamed to be British in many ways," he told the Irish Times.

He added that he feels "more Irish than ever" and planned to go on a "pilgrimage" with his mother to Ireland, as she had also received an Irish passport.

Comment: Tannock may get disappointed with this: Irexit: 'There are no longer any advantages to Ireland staying in the EU'

S.Korea and US to lift warhead weight limit on South Korean missiles

South Korean troops fire Hyunmoo Missile into the waters of the East Sea at a military exercise
© Defense Ministry / Yonhap / ReutersSouth Korean troops fire Hyunmoo Missile into the waters of the East Sea at a military exercise in South Korea September 4, 2017.
The US agreed to allow South Korea deploy heavier warheads on its missiles after the latest nuclear test by Pyongyang. The existing limit set in a missile pact between Washington and Seoul is 500 kg.

The agreement to lift the weight limit was reached by US President Donald Trump and his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in in a phone call on Monday, the South Korean presidential office said in a statement.

The military cooperation between the US and South Korea places restrictions on missiles that South Korea may deploy on its soil. In 2012, Washington agreed to extend the range limit to 800km, but preserved the 500kg cap on payload weight.
