Hilarious: Heather Nauert says US govt "just not sure" what kind of chemical was used in Douma, but they're sure Assad did it

The United States is aware that some kind of chemical was used in the alleged attack in the Syrian city of Douma, but is not sure at present what kind of substance it was, the US State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said during a press briefing on Tuesday.

"We do know that some sort of a substance was used," Nauert told reporters. "A chemical was used, we're just not sure at this point today exactly what was used."

Nauert explained the United States will rely on information collected by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) regarding the alleged chemical attack, but said the US government also has its own mechanisms to investigate the incident.

Comment: Nauert is not doing blondes everywhere any favors. First, the U.S. government has no mechanisms, because it has no experts on the ground to conduct any kind of actual investigation. They cannot possibly know if the Syrian military was responsible, because they cannot even be sure that the event happened as described by the terrorist sources on which they're basing their conclusions. They cannot rule out a chemical of a type possessed by the terrorists who held Douma, assuming a chemical was even used. As such, they cannot possibly know beyond a reasonable doubt whether or not the Syrian government/military were responsible. This is just idiotic, but then again, it's the U.S. State Department.

Defense Secretary Mattis, who had the integrity to admit earlier this year that there was no evidence Assad used chemical weapons last year, had this to say: "We're still assessing the intelligence - ourselves and our allies. We're still working on this." Hopefully his professionalism prevails.

Putin's likely new Cabinet full of ministers prepared to fight a war on all fronts - with Medvedev on the out

Father Politics, like Mother Nature, abhors a vacuum.

And so it was, even before the US Treasury announced its newest sanctions against Russian individuals and their companies for "malign activity around the globe", that President-elect Vladimir Putin was preparing a successor cabinet of ministers on the principle that they would be organized as a headquarters staff for fighting a war on all fronts, without the option of negotiating terms with the enemy.

The impact of the US sanctions, along with the campaign of the British Government in the Skripal affair, and the Syrian front action escalating since the weekend, have reinforced what had already been decided in the Kremlin. The new government is to be a war cabinet. In Russian parlance, a Stavka.

To foreigners, Putin's new war cabinet will look like the Stavka created by Joseph Stalin following the German invasion on June 21, 1941.

Israeli occupation forces used "strange" and "unknown" gases against unarmed, peaceful protesters in Gaza, Quds Press reported the central commission for documentation and pursuit of Israeli war criminals -Tawtheeq saying.

Head of the commission Imad Al-Baz told Quds Press that Israel used strange gases against the protesters for the first time last Friday as Palestinians continued their peaceful activities as part of the Great March of Return.

The gases caused protesters' bodies to convulse and tremble, he explained. Many lost consciousness as a result for several hours, he added.

Comment: No doubt there is something nefarious being used against unarmed Palestinians. Gaza is a field test area for Israeli arms manufacturers.

Arrogant and foolish Trump asks Russia to roll over - it won't

Donald Trump may perceive these bad cop/good cop tweets as a serious way to negotiate with Russia. They ain't.

Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria. Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and "smart!" You shouldn't be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!
Donald J. Trump - @realDonaldTrump - 11:37 AM UTC - 11 Apr 2018
Our relationship with Russia is worse now than it has ever been, and that includes the Cold War. There is no reason for this. Russia needs us to help with their economy, something that would be very easy to do, and we need all nations to work together. Stop the arms race?
Russia said it would destroy the platforms that launch the missiles, not only the missiles themselves. Did nobody explain the difference to Trump?

There is a reason that U.S. relations with Russia are now worse than they have been for some time and Russia is not responsible for this. The GW Bush administration killed the Anti-Ballistic-Missile treaty which guaranteed Mutually Assured Destruction and thus strategic stability. The Obama administration launched a trillion dollar program to ramp up U.S. nuclear capabilities and ballistic missile defense with the aim of achieving superiority in a nuclear conflict.

Trump threatens Russia: Get ready, 'nice, new and smart' missiles will be coming to Syria

Donald Trump warned Russia to "get ready" after Moscow vowed to shoot any missiles fired at Syria down. "They will be coming, nice and new and smart," Trump tweeted.

The tweet appears to be an unofficial announcement of the "major decisions" which Trump said Washington would soon be making regarding the alleged chemical attack in Syria.

Comment: Russia's FM spokesperson Maria Zakharova has responded in her characteristically brilliant manner, accusing the US of planning to destroy evidence of the fabricated chemical weapons attack:
Smart missiles should fly towards terrorists, not [Syria's] lawful government, which has spent several years fighting against international terrorism on its territory," Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in response to Trump's tweet on Wednesday.

She added the US may be seeking to undermine an inspection by chemical weapons experts, who are planning to investigate on the ground in Syria after the alleged attack which sparked the current confrontation between Russia and the US.

"Are the OPCW inspectors aware that smart missiles are about to destroy all evidence of the chemical weapons use on the ground? Or is that the actual plan - to cover up all evidence of this fabricated attack with smart missile strikes, so that international inspectors had no evidence to look for?" Zakharova asked.

IDF goes full Ahmedinejad, threatens to wipe Assad regime from the map if Iran attacks Israel from Syrian territory

After they launched a lethal strike (from Lebanese airspace, no less) against the T-4 airforce base in Syria in retaliation for the a chemical weapons attack on a rebel-held Syrian village - killing several Iranians in the process - senior Israeli officials have finally confirmed what many have long assumed since the country started escalating its military operations within the borders of its crumbling Levantine neighbor.

That is, if Israel even so much as suspects that Iranian agents are planning an attack against Israel from Syrian territory, it will be Syrian President Bashar al-Assad who ends up on the receiving end of a preemptive strike from the IDF, per the Jerusalem Post.
"If the Iranians act against Israel from Syrian territory, Syrian President Bashar Assad and his regime will be those that pay the price."
The aggressive rhetoric from senior officials in the IDF comes after Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei referred to Israel's attack on the T-4 air base as "Israel's crime" and threatened that it "would not remain without a response."

The Russian military reserves the right to shoot down missiles and destroy launch sites in the event of US aggression against Syria, Moscow's envoy to Lebanon Alexander Zasypkin has warned.

Zasypkin stressed that "the Russian forces will confront any US aggression on Syria, by intercepting the missiles and striking their launch pads," al-Manar TV website reported, citing the envoy.

Speaking to the channel, the ambassador also said that the allegations of a chemical attack were being used to justify "offensive acts" in Syria, while "the US and Western escalation against Syria will lead to a major crisis."

There was no congressional hearing when Obama harvested 190 million Facebook users data to win in 2012

Obama Facebook Zuckerberg

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg appeared before Congress Tuesday but the hearing was far from achieving any meaningful headway. Most of Zuckerberg's responses included "I'll have my team follow up with you on that," or "I'll have to check with my team." The answers that didn't involve referring to his team saw Zuckerberg citing the company's basic policy and functions. In reality, the questions posed by most of the Senators revealed they did not truly understand how the platform worked. One Senator did manage to scrape at the heart of the issue when he referred to the 2012 Obama campaign's use of Facebook to win the election and that is where the true hypocrisy of this hearing lies.

When you take a look at what spurred this hearing, it was largely put in motion by the Cambridge Analytica scandal where a third party was able to glean data about users in order to target them with political ads. In reality was not even a scandal, it wasn't even anything new that hasn't been done for years. In fact, the Obama campaign used Facebook to gain a massive political advantage by doing exactly what Cambridge Analytica did and the Obama campaign's media director even bragged about it and confirmed Facebook was aware of it. Let's take a look at exactly what down and why the current hearing spurred by the alleged misuse of the social media platform in favor of the Trump campaign is such a farce.

Saudi Arabia could take part in military action in Syria after a suspected chemical attack that killed at least 60 people in the eastern Ghouta region over the weekend, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said on Tuesday.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday promised quick, forceful action in response to the attack, appearing to suggest a potential military response.

"If our alliance with our partners requires it, we will be present," Prince Mohammed said at a news conference with French President Emmanuel Macron, wrapping up a three-day visit to Paris.
