US Senator Warren and 5 other members of Congress finally criticize Israel's murder of Palestinian protesters

As protests at the Gaza border get underway this morning, several liberal Democratic politicians have finally objected to Israel's shooting of unarmed Palestinians at the Gaza fence. A Jewish youth group is protesting at Sen. Dianne Feinstein's office, urging her to speak out against "merciless" killings. While a report in al-Monitor suggests that Israel targeted Palestinian journalists last week because it objected to international criticism of its actions.

Today is the third Friday of the protests at the Gaza border fence called the Great March of Return. Over 110 have already been wounded this morning, per Palestinian media reports. Many suffered teargas inhalation.

The Gaza marchers seem to be highly cognizant of the effects of their actions right now. From Mohammed Kareem, a Gaza journalist, this morning:
Today is Friday, and there will be another wave of #GreatReturnMarch .. We still attached to the peacefulness of protests. We still attached to face the israeli bullets unarmed and unarmoured, only by our bare chests

Comment: Who can witness Israel's joy at murdering innocent people and not feel compelled to condemnd it? Why has only a handful of members of the US Congress spoken up? Can we consider those who keep quiet as being complicit on these crimes?

Putin: Further Western strikes in Syria contrary to Int'l law "will inevitably lead to chaos in international relations"

Russian President Vladimir Putin in a phone conversation with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani discussed the situation in Syria after a massive missile strike was conducted by the US, Britain and France against the country.

Putin and his Iranian counterpart agreed that the US-led illegal airstrike on Syria seriously damages the prospects for a political settlement in the country.

The airstrikes ordered by the US President on April 13, has caused many sleepless nights among twitter users, as the social media commentators share their anger, fear and despair about the attacks as well as express support for the Syrians amid the war's escalation.

US President Donald Trump addressed his nation after he had launched airstrikes on several targets in Syria in response to alleged use of chemical weapons, not only to explain the reasons for the joint attack of the US, the UK and France, but also to send a message to Russia and Iran regarding escalation. He claimed that these two governments are "most responsible for supporting, equipping, and financing the criminal Assad regime."

"To Iran, and to Russia, I ask: What kind of a nation wants to be associated with the mass murder of innocent men, women, and children? The nations of the world can be judged by the friends they keep. No nation can succeed in the long run by promoting rogue states, brutal tyrants, and murderous dictators," said Trump.

According to Trump, it was Russia which was responsible for the attacks on Syria, expressing, hope, however that someday the US "will get along with Russia, and maybe even Iran."

Comment: Overall, the public is not too happy about the missiles strikes in Syria, and understandably so. In the public's eye, unproven allegations and even outright deception are not compelling enough reasons to mount an attack on a sovereign nation. Former Commander of the Russian Baltic Fleet explains why Western strike on Syria was poorly coordinated

Touching upon Saturday's missile attack on Syria, which was launched by the US, the UK and France, the former commander of the Russian Baltic Fleet told Sputnik that a thorough analysis is needed in order to take steps towards retaliation, not least on the diplomatic front.

Admiral Vladimir Valuyev, former commander of the Russian Baltic Fleet, said that "despite the opinion of sober-minded states and sober-minded people, the aggressors' provocative attack did take place."

"Judging by the fact that it took them [the US, Britain and France] more than an hour to conduct a joint missile strike, we can assume that the three had failed to take coordinated action," Valuyev pointed out.

Hypocrite Saudi king lambasts Iran's alleged "blatant interference" in Arab Affairs

The Saudi King also blamed Tehran for the ballistic missile strikes carried out by the Yemeni Shiite rebels which have been targeting his country.

"We renew our strong condemnation of Iran's terrorist acts in the Arab region and reject its blatant interference in the affairs of Arab countries," Saudi King Salman said during a speech in Dhahran, eastern Saudi Arabia at the summit of the Arab League.

He also blamed Tehran, which has repeatedly denied supplying ballistic missiles to Yemen's Houthi militia, of being responsible for the rebels' attacks targeting the Kingdom. Salman said that the missiles being launched from Yemeni territory were "produced in Iran."

Commenting on the US embassy's relocation to Jerusalem, a decision which has been fiercely condemned by Arab states, Salman denounced the move. "We reiterate our rejection of the US decision on Jerusalem," the royal said. "East Jerusalem is an integral part of the Palestinian territories," he added.

Salman announced that Riyadh would be making a $150 million donation to East Jerusalem.

Comment: The Saudis are hypocrites. They accuse Iran of interfering in the affairs of other countries, yet they have no problem with attempting regime change in Syria:

WikiLeaks reveals Saudi wishful thinking: "Overthrow the Syrian regime, but play nice with Russia"

Saudi cable published by Wikileaks: "Overthrow the Syrian regime, but play nice with Russia"

Saudi cable WikiLeaks Syria regime change
© WikiLeaksSecret Saudi cable produced by WikiLeaks: Saudi Arabia "must seek by all means available and all possible ways to overthrow the current regime in Syria" even should the United States at any point show "lack of desire."
Hours after the overnight US-led missile strikes on Syria, WikiLeaks republished a crucially important diplomatic cable through its official media accounts confirming that Saudi Arabia's long term strategy in Syria has been to pursue regime change "by all means available."According to the leaked internal Saudi government document, this is the kingdom's proposed end-goal even should the United States at any point show "lack of desire" due to the threat of Russian response and possibility of a 'great power' confrontation.

With American lawmakers and media pundits already urging President Trump to escalate and sustain attacks against Syria, it must be remembered that close US allies like Israel and Saudi Arabia have long coordinated to create the conditions that might tip the US administration toward full military action resulting in regime change in Damascus. And more recently, fresh off his weeks-long tour of the US, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has both slammed previous proposals of US troop withdrawal in Syria and declared eagerness "to work with allies on any military response in Syria if needed."

It is also essential to recall that the al-Qaeda linked group which originated the claims of a government orchestrated chemical attack on civilians in the Damascus suburb of Douma, called Jaish al Islam (JAI), is and has always been state sponsored by the Saudi regime. The Guardian, among others, reported beginning in 2013 that Saudi Arabia founded and trained the group, spending millions.

Comment: Craig Murray suggests that Saudi Arabia may have had an important role in the push for the latest bombing of Syria. We hope that the Saudis are finally learning that they cannot have it both ways: either you overthrow the Syrian 'regime', or you are nice to Russia. And since not being nice to Russia would risk the unthinkable, then the Syrian 'regime' cannot be overthrown. The FUKUS (France, UK, US) know this - hence the pathetic theatrical display of "nice, smart" and largely harmless Tomahawk missiles.

Monsanto's stranglehold on seeds in India: Legal battle over GM cotton rules biotech plant varieties and seeds cannot be patented

cotton
Cotton Harvest
Could Monsanto's six-decade presence in India be coming to a halt?

On Wednesday, the Delhi High Court ruled that the biotech giant cannot claim patents for Bollgard and Bollgard II, its genetically modified cotton seeds, in the country.

Citing India's Patents Act of 1970, the court said that plant varieties and seeds cannot be patented, thereby rejecting Monsanto's attempt to block its Indian licensee, Nuziveedu Seeds Ltd., from selling the seeds.

"What it means is effectively Monsanto has no patent on seeds in India and they have never had it. They have tried to hoodwink the seed companies and farmers for years claiming they have a patent and making huge amounts of money from that," Diya Kapur, a lawyer for Nuziveedu Seeds, told Bloomberg.

Comment: The evidence keeps mounting - genetically modified crops do not increase yields and do not decrease the use of agri-chemicals, but have instead created super-pests, super-weeds and massive finical debt to farmers.

Dr. Vandana Shiva, a trained physicist and seed activist from India has written extensively on the topic of the suffering of Indian farmers and the incessant promotion of the GMO mumbo-jumbo:
It is because of these failures and the fact that GMOs are linked to patents, which translates into royalty extraction and high prices, that GMOs worsen the economic status of farmers.

Suicides increased after Bt cotton was introduced on a large scale.

Farmers chose Bt cotton not because it was the best alternative but because all other alternatives were destroyed. The seed varieties were replaced. The Central Institute for Cotton Research has not released any public varieties after Monsanto entered the market, and most Indian seed companies are locked into licensing arrangements with Monsanto.

Earlier, Russia had made numerous warns on all levels about provocations of chemical weapons use organized by insurgents in the Eastern Ghouta. Today, there are other evidences at the disposal of the Russian military department, which testify to the direct participation of Great Britain in organizing this provocation in the Eastern Ghouta.
