Italian deputy PM Salvini closes Italian ports to migrant ship

New Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini has shut off Italian ports to a migrant ship with more than 600 people on board, as he follows through on his promise to get tough when it comes to illegal immigration.

Salvini set out his position on Facebook, saying: "Malta takes in nobody. France pushes people back at the border, Spain defends its frontier with weapons. From today, Italy will also start to say no to human trafficking, no to the business of illegal immigration."

Comment: The globalists' tactic of undermining sovereign nations by flooding them with outsiders in the name of "humanitarianism" is starting to backfire, as those nations are taking back control of their borders.

The media should heed his last answer

One gets the feeling that this segment didn't go quite as planned, but it was interesting nonetheless. The journalists were looking for short answers of maybe a few words, or a sentence.

This being Russia, things tend to get a little more complicated.

Listen to the last question and his answer to it. It doesn't sound rehearsed.

Italian PM to NATO chief: 'Difficult if not impossible to solve crises without Russia'

United Nations

Moscow is essential to resolving deadlocks in ongoing international crises, Italy's new Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte insists. He called for Western countries to seek dialogue with Russia instead of turning a cold shoulder.

"Without the involvement of Russia it's difficult, if not impossible" to find "the only realistic and long-lasting" solutions to world crises, Conte said during a press conference with the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. He endorsed NATO's so-called 'double-track approach' to Moscow - mixing defense posturing and maintaining dialogue.

Noting that Russia plays "an essential role" in world affairs, the Italian Prime Minister called on the bloc's members to engage in "more effective" talks with Moscow in order to avoid misunderstandings and "dangerous escalation".

Israeli forces launched unexpected large-scale military drills in the Golan Heights, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said.

"A short while ago, a large-scale surprise military exercise began in the Golan Heights area... In addition, as part of the exercise the system to call up reservists was activated," the IDF said in a statement as quoted by the Times of Israel newspaper.

The Israeli army added that the drills were "planned in advance as part of the 2018 training schedule" and were not linked to the current situation in the area.

Comment: The Israeli Air Force has resumed their overflights into Lebanese airspace this week, as their warplanes were spotted flying along Lebanon's eastern border with Syria.
According to a military report, both Israeli reconnaissance drones and fighter jets were spotted along the Lebanese-Syrian border, with most of their flights taking place over the Sheba'a Farms, Beqa'a Valley, Mount Hermon (Jabal Al-Sheikh), and occupied Golan Heights.

In response to these Israeli overflights, the Syrian Air Defense has been put on high alert near their western border with Lebanon and the occupied Golan Heights region.

A Syrian military source in Damascus told Al-Masdar News last week that the Israeli Air Force has been heavily monitoring the area around the Qalamoun Mountains and Al-Qusayr; they both have a large Hezbollah presence.

Assad tells UK media that Douma 'chemical attack' was a British PR stunt

Bachar el-Assad
The US, the UK and France launched airstrikes against Syria in April after accusing Damascus of a chemical attack in the city of Douma. The Syrian and Russian governments have charged the US and UK-funded White Helmet group with staging a false-flag chemical attack in the city to prompt Western military intervention.

Speaking to The Mail on Sunday, President Assad accused the three Western powers of using the White Helmets group to give them a pretext to attack Syria.

"The UK publically supported the White Helmets that are a branch of al-Qaeda, al-Nusra, in different areas of Syria. They [Britain] spent a lot of money, and we consider the White Helmets to be a PR stunt by the UK. So yes, definitely, it was staged by these three countries together, and the UK is involved," Assad said.

Noting that the US-British-French tripartite didn't provide the public with evidence that an attack actually took place at Douma, Assad said that this wasn't the point. "The crux of the issue is that they need to undermine the Syrian government, as they needed to change and topple the Syrian government at the beginning of the events of the war in Syria. They keep failing, they keep telling lies, and they continue to play a war of attrition against our government," the president said.

It's open season on Justin Trudeau in the Trump administration, with the White House trade council chief launching an attack on the Canadian PM, saying there is a "special place in hell" for anyone who double-crosses his boss.

Director of the White House National Trade Council Peter Navarro preached against the Canadian Prime Minister during an interview with Fox News Sunday when asked whether US President Donald Trump's very personal attack on Trudeau was warranted, given that Canada is the second biggest trading partner of the US.

Navarro, who was introduced as the "architect" behind Trump's plan to slap Canada, Mexico and the EU with tariffs on steel and aluminum, did not hold back his fury, turning the heat up even higher.

"There's a special place in hell for any foreign leader that engages in bad faith diplomacy with President Donald J. Trump and then tries to stab him in the back on the way out the door," Navarro said, echoing the words of Trump's chief economic adviser Larry Kudlow.

Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said Monday that militants of the Free Syrian Army had already brought canisters with chlorine to a settlement in Deir ez-Zor to stage another "chemical attack against civilians."

"According to the information received via three independent channels in Syria, the command of the so-called Free Syrian Army with assistance from the servicemen of US special operations forces is preparing a serious provocation with the use of toxic substance in Deir ez-Zor province," Konashenkov said.

The ministry noted that the video of the use of chemical substances would become grounds for US coalition's attacks on institutions of the Syrian government.

Comment: Last time the jihadists tried this trick the world didn't believe them much. Still, FUKUS had to launch a few largely ineffective missiles. Are the terrorists and their US black-ops friends hoping for a stronger response this time?

Responding to mass anti-austerity protests held in Jordan, a number of Gulf States have offered the kingdom $2.5 billion to help it overcome an economic crisis.

Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have announced their decision to allocate a $2.5 billion aid package to Jordan, including a deposit into its central bank, World Bank guarantees, annual support for the kingdom's budget over five years and financing of development projects.

The announcement of the economic package came shortly after Saudi King Salman urged a Sunday meeting in Mecca, gathering Jordan's King Abdullah II, Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed.

Pompeo says Trump will offer Kim Jong-Un unprecedented security deal

Mike Pompeo says assurances Trump will offer Kim will go further than 2005 agreement

Washington is prepared to offer North Korea unprecedented security guarantees, the US secretary of state has said in Singapore on the eve of the summit between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un.

Mike Pompeo did not specify what security assurances Trump would offer Kim but made clear they would go even further than a 2005 agreement in which the US pledged not to attack North Korea with nuclear or conventional weapons.

"It is the case we are prepared to give security assurances necessary for the North Koreans to engage in ... denuclearisation," Pompeo told reporters. "We are prepared to take actions that will provide them sufficient certainty that they can be comfortable that denuclearisation isn't something that ends badly for them."

He added: "We are prepared to make ... security assurances that are different, [more] unique than, what America has been willing to provide previously. We think this is both necessary and appropriate."

Comment: Lets not get too optimistic just yet. When Pompeo says that the US remains "committed to the complete, verifiable, irreversible denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula", he is hinting at impossible conditions which North Korea as a sovereign nation will never agree to. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz refused to respond Friday to accusations that she attempted to shut down an investigation related to a former IT staffer of hers who made unauthorized access to House servers.

The IT aide, Imran Awan, plus his wife, two brothers and friends are suspected of breaching House IT network rules.

Two House sources told The Daily Caller News Foundation's Luke Rosiak that the former Democratic National Committee chairwoman told House Chief Administrative Officer Phil Kiko, "you will not so much as take away their parking spots."
