Best of the Web: Trump on Tucker Carlson: 'I'm not pro-Russia,' slams ex-CIA chief Brennan for calling Putin news conference 'treasonous'

tucker trump
President Trump denied he was "pro-Russia" and slammed former CIA Director John Brennan in a Fox News interview airing Tuesday night, after the ex-intelligence chief described Trump's news conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin as "treasonous."

"I think Brennan is a very bad guy and if you look at it a lot of things happened under his watch," Trump told Fox News' Tucker Carlson on Monday. "I think he's a very bad person."

The "Tucker Carlson Tonight" interview was recorded in Helsinki following the Trump-Putin news conference, at which Trump appeared to dismiss the U.S. intelligence community's conclusion that Russia meddled in the 2016 election. Trump backtracked on Tuesday, claiming he meant to say he didn't see why Russia "wouldn't" be responsible for the meddling.

Comment: It seems that Tucker Carlson is one of the few sane voices left in the American media, so it's nice to see a rational, if brief, discussion with Trump on these issues. It's also interesting that both Trump and Putin gave interviews to Fox News after their meeting in Helsinki. Even that media outlet, however, is permitting crazies to bash the two leaders for not toeing the globalist line.

Grandstanding: Mueller's politicized indictment of twelve 'Russian intelligence officers"

rosenstein
© Leah Millis/ReutersDeputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein pauses while announcing grand jury indictments of 12 Russian intelligence officers in special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation, during a news conference at the Justice Department in Washington, July 13, 2018.
So, is Russia now presumed innocent of hacking the 2016 election?

If not, it is difficult to understand any proper purpose served by Special Counsel Robert Mueller's indictment of twelve military officers in the Kremlin's intelligence services for doing what everybody in America already knew that they did, and has known since before Donald Trump took office - indeed, since before the 2016 election.

Make no mistake: This is nakedly politicized law enforcement. There is absolutely no chance any of the Russian officials charged will ever see the inside of an American courtroom. The indictment is a strictly political document by which the special counsel seeks to justify the existence of his superfluous investigation.

Comment: The author makes many good points about the real goal of the Mueller farce, though he errs in his contention that Russia "interfered" in the election. If one wants to see real interference, look no further than the activities of AIPAC, who pours millions of dollars of bribes donations into congressional and presidential races.

Still, President Putin turned the tables on the Mueller gambit, offering him full access to the GRU officers, under an agreement that has been in place for decades, in exchange for questioning William Browder and others in a Russian tax evasion case. He further dropped a bombshell in averring that the stolen funds were laundered as a $400,000 campaign donation to the Democratic Party (mistranslated as $400 million in the original transcript). Wouldn't some law enforcement department be interested in pursuing that?

Best of the Web: The coup against Trump

The American backlash against President Trump over his summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin has been as ferocious as it was predictable.

Every possible vilification has been thrown at him. But it is the slur of Trump as "traitor" that puts this president in grave danger.

Democrats, Republicans, state intelligence pundits, hawkish media, liberal media - all have launched a torrent of attacks on Donald Trump for daring to meet with Putin in Helsinki this week.

The Washington Post accused Trump of "openly colluding with the criminal leader of a hostile power". Let those extreme words sink in for a moment. The implication is as serious as it can get.

As with other politicians and media outlets, the Post said the president had "betrayed" American intelligence services by siding with President Putin in denying that Russia had interfered in US elections.

Former CIA chief John Brennan denounced Trump as a "traitor" who had "committed high crimes" in holding a friendly summit with Putin.

It can't get more seditious than that. Trump is being denigrated by almost the entire political and media establishment in the US as a "treasonous" enemy of the state.

Comment: For those who have eyes to see, that's basically what it comes down to. See also: And if you missed the conference: Post-summit Trump-Putin press conference (full text): First step toward renewing US-Russian friendship?

Corrupt Comey attacks Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson: 'Trump should sit down with serious journalists'

James Comey
Former FBI Director James Comey
President Trump held interviews Monday evening with Fox News hosts Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson after his meeting and press conference with Vladimir Putin.

Corrupt cop Comey attacked the President for speaking with Hannity and Tucker and suggested they aren't 'serious journalists.'

Comey also sarcastically said, "I'm guessing RT [Russian Television] and Sputnik were unavailable."

Russians under every bed...

Comment: Does anyone still listen to Comey about anything at all? The guy's credibility is absolute zero at this point.

Best of the Web: Post-summit Trump-Putin press conference (full text): First step toward renewing US-Russian friendship? (UPDATE)

trump putin melania
President of Russia Vladimir Putin: Mr President, ladies and gentlemen,

The talks with President of the United States Donald Trump were held in a candid and business-like atmosphere. I think they were quite successful and beneficial.

We reviewed the current state and prospects of Russia-US relations and key international issues. It is obvious to everyone that our bilateral relations are undergoing a complicated period but there is no objective reason for these difficulties and the current tense atmosphere.

The Cold War ended long ago, the era of acute ideological confrontation belongs to the distant past, and the situation in the world has fundamentally changed.

Today both Russia and the United States are facing completely different challenges - the mechanisms of international security and stability are dangerously out of balance, there are regional crises, the spread of the threat of terrorism and cross border crime, crime in general, growing world economic problems, environmental and other risks. It is possible to cope with all this only by working together. I hope we will come to this same understanding with our American partners.

Today's talks reflected the shared desire of President Trump and myself to correct the negative situation in bilateral relations and map out initial steps to improve them, restore an acceptable level of trust and return to the former level of cooperation on all issues of mutual interest.

As a major nuclear power, we have special responsibility when it comes to international security. I consider it important, as we discussed, to get the dialogue on strategic stability and the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction on track. We made a note with a number of concrete proposals on this matter available to our American colleagues.

ISIS' propaganda arm the 'White Helmets' to be evacuated to Europe by US

White Helmets to Europe
The United States, Canada and several European countries, particularly Great Britain and France, are considering the evacuation of members of the Al-Qaeda affiliated White Helmets and their relatives from Syria.

According to the CNN network, the plan is to transfer about 1,000 members of the organization and their families to other countries, such as Canada, the United Kingdom or Germany.

According to sources quoted by the channel, US President Donald Trump raised the issue at the NATO summit in Brussels and Western delegations persuaded Trump to examine the evacuation routes with Israel and Jordan.

President Donald Trump and President Vladimir Putin held a joint press conference Monday in Helsinki, Finland.

Putin accused Bill Browder of donating $400,000,000 to HILLARY CLINTON!!!
Vladimir Putin: Last year there was one extradition case by the United States... Mueller can use this treaty as an official request to us... in this case this kind of effort should be a reciprical one... For instance we can bring up Mr. Browder... They sent a huge amount of money $400,000,000 to Hillary Clinton!

Update: Russian Tass news says the amount was $400,000 - a mistranslation.

On Tuesday Russian Tass reported that Russia is ready to send a request to the US deep state over Bill Browder's questioning.
The Russian Prosecutor General's Office is ready to send a request for the questioning of staffers of US intelligence services and public officers within the framework of a criminal case against Hermitage Capital founder William Browder, prosecutors' spokesman Alexander Kurennoy told a briefing on Tuesday.

"Within the framework of a probe into a criminal case against William Browder and his criminal group, we are ready to send another request to the US competent agencies for a possibility to question these staffers of US special services, some other public officers of the US and a number of entrepreneurs in order to later charge them with the crimes committed by Browder," Kurennoy said.

Browder has transferred $400,000 to accounts of the US Democratic Party, Kurennoy said.

Backtracking? Trump's confusing 'Russia collusion' comments in Helsinki

trump
© Leah Millis / Reuters
US President Donald Trump has said he accepts the US intelligence community's conclusion that Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential election, but said that Russia's actions had no impact on the election outcome.

Trump gave a somewhat confusing explanation of his remarks in Helsinki, telling reporters there was "a need for some clarification" on his comments. He explained that when he said he saw no reason why Russia "would" interfere, he meant to say he saw no reason why it "would not" be Russia who interfered in the US elections.

Trump faced tough criticism from the media and politicians on both sides of the political divide yesterday for appearing to back up Putin's claim that Russia did not interfere in the election and his latest comments seem to mark an effort to backtrack on that claim.

Comment: One wonders whether Trump's confusing comments are an attempt to appease the baying media, political and deepstate warmongers back in the US after he essentially questioned the reliability of the US intelligence agency:

It happened to Putin too!

UK Defence minister resigns over Brexit tax 'capitulation'

An amendment to the customs bill that would stop the UK from collecting tariffs or taxes for the EU without reciprocity barely passed in the House of Commons, as Theresa May's cabinet suffered another casualty.

Prime Minister Theresa May's decision to side with Conservative Brexiteers and throw her political weight behind the clause has alienated many moderate Tories. However, the resignation of Minister for Defence Procurement, Guto Bebb, who voted "Remain" in the 2016 referendum, has come as a shock for many.

Bebb, Welsh MP for Aberconwy, stepped down from the office he held since January at the last minute so he could align with Labour in rejecting the amendment during the evening vote.

Trump, Brexit, NATO, Russia and Saxaphone Players in Bowler Hats

Trump was a busy man this past week. Calling NATO members out in Brussels and driving a hard bargain with the Brits. In a few days he heads to Russia to meet his arch nemesis Putin, just as Mueller announced the "indictment" of 12 Russians for stealing the election for Trump. All of it, of course, has provoked lots of wailing and gnashing of teeth among the leftist media and ordinary, otherwise rational, people across the Western world. Is any of it justified? Joe analyzes the situation.

Here's why Trump should fire Rosenstein immediately

Rosenstein
© GettyDeputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein
Does Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein's indictment of 12 Russian military intelligence officers for allegedly hacking Hillary's emails and interfering in the US election have any purpose other than to throw a monkey wrench in President Trump's upcoming summit with Putin?

Don't forget that Rosenstein is implicated in the orchestration of Russiagate as a weapon against Trump, a weapon that serves the interests of the Democratic Party and the military/security complex about which President Eisenhower warned us 56 years ago to no avail. Rosenstein's indictment of 12 Russians for allegedly hacking computers is a political indictment aimed at President Trump. The indictment is otherwise pointless as the Russian government will certainly not turn over its military personnel to a Washington kangaroo court. The indictment serves no purpose except to poison the atmosphere of the summit.
