Europe ready to defy US economic sanctions on Iran

EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini and Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif
EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini and Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif
The EU is preparing to continue trade with Iran even if the US slap economic sanctions on Iran, and if the US withdraws from the JCPOA

The EU is mulling its options in the event of a US withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the 2015 multinational nuclear deal struck with Iran. Various European nations have been exploring ways of increasing business with the middle eastern country since the deal was struck, and are invested in making sure that the deal sticks and that sanctions are not reimposed.

Cell Phone

Did Strzok break classified-information protocols too? May have used cell phone in a 'Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility'

strzok
Released texts between Peter Strzok, the FBI agent who ran the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's email server, and his lover, FBI attorney Lisa Page, reveal the possibility that Strzok used his cell phone in a SCIF - a strict violation of protecting classified information.

Such a breach would compromise Strzok's ability to probe Clinton for mishandling classified info and show a lack of awareness about security breaches, which is what he was tasked to investigate. The text messages that the Senate released Wednesday show that Strzok texted his mistress on Aug. 11, 2016, "We're in Jims SCIF."

SCIF stands for Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility, and it is where the most sensitive classified material is kept and stored. SCIFs strictly bar all electronic equipment and require all people place their phones in lockers before entering.

Propaganda

WaPo propaganda fail: 'ISIS is there' (but only when convenient for US)

David Ignatius
David Ignatius, Washington Post
David Ignatius, a CIA and Pentagon mouthpiece writing at Jeff Bezos's blog, stenographs the U.S. claims about yesterday's massacre against local pro-government forces in Deir Ezzor.

There is a funny contradiction in his tale.

In a first step Ignatius must justify the U.S. presence and action in the area. He does so by pointing to "remnants" of the Islamic State
The rout ended at about 5:30 a.m. When we arrived about seven hours later, the Kurdish commander was still flush with victory. He took us on a tour later of the SDF's front-line positions against scattered Islamic State remnants east of Shaddadi.
See, there is ISIS and that's why the U.S. and the Kurds are there.

Comment: Here are more examples of Ignatius and his ilk being called out on the quality of their "journalism"

We could 'destroy all US bases in region & unleash hell for Zionist regime' - Iranian commander

Tehran has dismissed Tel Aviv's claims concerning an Iranian UAV and a downed Israeli jet as "ridiculous." An Iranian commander also warned Iran could unleash "hell" on the "Zionist regime" and destroy all US bases in the area.

"The claim about the flight of an Iranian drone and Iran's involvement in the downing of a Zionist fighter jet is so ridiculous that it does not merit a comment," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said. He added that Iranian officials are acting in Syria only as advisers and do so "at the request of the... legitimate and lawful government."

What's more, any "aggressive actions" by Tel Aviv would trigger a serious response. That is because Iran is capable of creating "hell for the Zionists," Brigadier General Hossein Salami, the deputy head of Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards Corps, said.

Little known fact: according to the rules of the Israeli lexicon, there is no such thing as an Israeli offensive attack. Such a thing is morally, physically, and linguistically impossible. When Israel's enemies strike first, Israel responds in self-defense. When Israel strikes first, it is only "self-defensing" itself against future attacks. And according to said lexicon's grammar, this also means that no other country can similarly "self-defense" itself against Israel. If their enemies fire first, it is never to protect against future Israeli offensives (which don't exist in theory or in practice), and when they attack in response to an Israeli attack, it is only because said enemies were planning to strike first anyway, but Israel "self-defensed" itself first.

With that in mind, here's Netanyahu's response:
"Our policy is clear: Israel will defend itself against any aggression and any attempt to violate its sovereignty," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, as cited by Israeli media. He also accused Iran of undertaking such an attempt on Saturday, referring to an incident involving an Iranian drone intercepted by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) earlier that day.
What all this really means, of course, is that Israel feels it has free license to violate other nations sovereignty routinely - as it has done countless of times in its history. When Israelis invade foreign airspace, launch unprovoked military strikes, and kill foreign nationals, they are explicitly violating that nation's sovereignty. That would ordinarily be considered an act of war. (Technically, Israel and Syria are still in a state of war and have been for decades, but that only means that only Israel can violate Syria's sovereignty and not vice versa.)

According to an Israeli commander, the recent attack on Syria was the largest in decades:
Brigadier General Tomer Bar, the Israeli Air Force's second-in-command, told journalists that its airstrikes on Syria on Saturday morning were "the biggest and most significant attack the air force has conducted against Syrian air defenses since Operation Peace for the Galilee" during the Lebanese Civil War in 1982.

The strikes were launched in response to the downing of an F-16 fighter jet earlier this morning, which was claimed by Syria. The F-16 was sent on a combat run over Syria after the Israeli military said an Iranian drone was spotted in northern Israel.

Bar said the retaliatory airstrikes inflicted "significant harm to the Syrian Air Force's defenses," which included "anti-aircraft batteries purchased in recent deals [with Russia]," along with Iranian targets.

Turkish helicopter downed in Afrin operation, 2 soldiers dead: Erdogan says perpetrators will 'pay heavy price'

Turkish helicopters
A Turkish military chopper was downed amid the country's Olive Branch operation in northern Syria, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said. Two soldiers were killed in the incident.

"One of our helicopters was downed just recently," Erdogan said as he spoke to a member of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Istanbul. "These things will happen, we are in a war," the president said, adding that even though Turkey "might lose a helicopter," the perpetrators of the attack will "pay a heavy price."

The president also said the Turkish Armed Forces "destroyed many missile depots" of the Kurdish militias they are battling in the Afrin region.Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim later told journalists that two soldiers were killed in the crash. However, he said that the cause of the incident is still unclear.

"We don't have exact evidence or document to determine that it went down with any outside interference," Yildirim told reporters on Saturday, as cited by AP. A representative of the Kurdish militias said that the chopper was shot down by Kurdish fighters over an area located northwest of Afrin, according to the news agency.

Nunes dueling with the Deep State

In order to spy on Trump, the FBI relied on a dossier produced by a Trump-hating British spy.

Mainstream media continues to downplay and outright ignore the FISA memo. Devin Nunes has been called a Russian agent by the radical left mainstream media.

Nunes fired back at the 'running scared' Democrats, as their entire Russiagate story collapses, only to expose 'Obama-DOJ-FBI-Hillary Clinton' collusion to bring down Trump.

Nunes even takes the time to mock newly revealed, Russian agent Adam Schiff, after he was trolled by Russian pranksters Vovan and Lexus.

George W. Bush claims 'there's clear evidence that the Russian's meddled' in US presidential election just like there were WMDs in Iraq

George W. Bush

Former president George W. Bush said that "there's pretty clear evidence that the Russians meddled" in the 2016 U.S. presidential election, during a speech in Abu Dhabi Thursday.

"Whether they affected the outcome is another question," Bush added.

He called it "problematic" that "a foreign nation is involved in our election system. Our democracy is only as good as people trust the results."

"He's got a chip on his shoulder," Bush said about Putin. "The reason he does is because of the demise of the Soviet Union troubles him. Therefore, much of his moves (are) to regain Soviet hegemony."

Comment: Bush is having another WMD in Iraq moment. He, like so many of his 'Russia-meddled' obsessed peers seems to think if the lie is repeated often enough it will eventually be believed. So where is the evidence? Oh right...there isn't any!

Supporting terrorism in Syria: Western-backed terrorists are using mortars against civilians

militants syria mortar attacks
© AFPIn this file photo, foreign-backed militants fire mortar shells toward pro-government fighters during the battle for the control of Handarat region, located just north of Aleppo, Syria.
In stark contrast to the sparse coverage of the brutality of ISIS and other terrorist groups in Syria over the past few years, there has recently been substantial coverage of the emergence of ISIS in Iraq and the terrorist acts that this US-backed and funded group has been committing. This surge of media focus on ISIS' brutality in Iraq and particularly on the recent alleged be-headings of two American journalists is extensively considered, amongst independent political analysts, to be setting the stage for NATO and the Axis-of-Imperialists to "fight terrorism" in Iraq and Syria, aka destroy both countries (note: there are valid doubts as to the legitimacy of the Foley video itself).

Glaringly absent from corporate media accounts of the proxy-war being waged on Syria is the fact that the very same terrorist group, as well as other Western-backed, al-Qaeda aligned terrorist organizations (like al-Nusra and the so-called "Free Syrian Army"), have been terrorizing Syrians for years-beheading them, flogging, crucifying, amputating hands-to name but a few of their crimes against thousands of Syrians.

In a recent interview, scholar and author Zafar Bangash noted Western-complicity in supporting ISIS and other mercenary groups, as well as NATO's complicity in the destruction of Syria thus far:
"As a member of NATO, obviously Turkey has close liaison with the United States, Britain, France, etc, providing them all kinds of information. A NATO member, that means by extension NATO itself, is involved in financing, supporting, arming, facilitating the transfer, or entry, of these terrorists into Syria."

Gina Miller says 'Best for Britain' pro-EU lobby group she co-founded is 'trying to take down UK govt'

© Global Look PressGina Miller(R), George Soros(L)
Chief remainer Gina Miller has turned against the pro-EU lobby group she founded, branding it "undemocratic" after reports broke that it is bidding to topple Theresa May and force a second referendum on Brexit.

Miller, who was hailed a hero by remainers after winning a case against the government allowing for a parliamentary vote on the final terms of a Brexit deal, distanced herself from the Best for Britain campaigners.

The pro-EU lobby group made the headlines on Thursday when it was claimed George Soros made a £400,000 ($558,000) donation, leading to claims that the billionaire was interfering in UK politics.

Comment: City A.M. reports that Gina Miller has denied any current connections to the Best for Britain group, saying that, "Contrary to misleading media reports published earlier today, I have absolutely no relationship with, or involvement in the work of, Best for Britain." Even if this is true, it seems her intense drive to stop Brexit made her a useful tool for 'undemocratic' elements in the anti-Brexit camp. Breitbart reports:
Miller previously dragged the government through the courts to establish that it could not implement the British public's vote to Leave the European Union without a second authorising vote in the Remainer-dominated Houses of Parliament. She also used Best for Britain to encourage tactical voting for parliamentary candidates with an "open mind" on Brexit during the 2017 snap election.

She had denied she wanted to actually reverse the referendum result, but leaked details of a national advertising campaign which will launch this month drops this pretence, with its explicit goal being to "wake the country up and assert that Brexit is not a done deal. That it's not too late to stop Brexit."

Report: Trump considering replacing Chief of Staff John Kelly with Mick Mulvaney

President Trump is not happy.

The departure of White House Staff Secretary Rob Porter earlier this week has sown discord in the West Wing. Trump reportedly had no idea of the abuse allegations leveled against Porter, which is curious because it's assumed that Porter's restraining order and police record of abuse would have popped up in the background checks that are requisite in any White House position.

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly is apparently behind the coverup, as he was a big advocate of Porter in the West Wing, and tried his best to keep the Staff Secretary from leaving. This act of betrayal has put the President in a tough spot: Can he keep trusting John Kelly? Will he pick a new chief of staff?

Comment: ABC News reports that 'sources' claim Kelly has offered to resign over his handling of Porter's domestic violence background. Fake news or political consequences? Time will tell.
