Jacob Rothschild speaks: 'Post-war economic and security order is at risk' (You don't say)

Jacob Rothschild has voiced concern about the global financial system that was established after WWII. The billionaire banker points to the US-China trade war and eurozone crisis as the key problems putting economic order at risk.

"In 9/11 and in the 2008 financial crisis, the powers of the world worked together with a common approach. Co-operation today is proving much more difficult. This puts at risk the post-war economic and security order," Rothschild warned in his investment trust's half-year results commentary.

In economics, the post-war order usually refers to a monetary management system which led to a rise of the US dollar as a dominant currency.

"In the circumstances our policy is to maintain our limited exposure to quoted equities and to enter into new commitments with great caution," Rothschild added.

Comment: Sure, blame Trump for the "lack of a co-ordinated, international response" to what are essentially systemic problems quite probably created by one of the richest, most manipulative and corrupt individuals on the planet - Jacob Rothschild himself.

'I'll have you killed!' Duterte chastises 100+ corrupt cops in Philippines

President Rodrigo Duterte has demonstratively threatened to keep a close watch on and to neutralize suspected corrupt cops if they ever make a single mistake that taints the public image of the Philippines' police force.

More than one hundred policemen, who are currently being probed for various offenses across the country, were delivered to Malacañang Palace for a public scolding by the Philippines' president, who made it clear from the start that they are totally "useless" to the country and represent a "plague" of society.

"I'll be frank to the entire Philippines. If you continue your way, son of a b*tch, I will really kill you. You can be sure of that. I have nothing else to do with you fools," Duterte told the policemen, who are accused of robbery, extortion, kidnapping, rape and other corrupt actions.

Comment: It's not everyday you hear about a bunch of corrupt cops being brought before their country's leader to be chastised and threatened. One wonders if it's effective. As controversial as he is, you've got to hand it to Duterte - the guy's got gusto!

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes claimed Monday that the FBI and Justice Department failed to include exculpatory evidence in surveillance warrant applications against former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

"There is exculpatory evidence that we have seen, of classified documents that need to be declassified," Nunes said in an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity.

"Exculpatory in nature in what way? Exculpatory in what way?" Hannity asked.

China vows to maintain trade with Iran, ignores 'with us or against us' threats from US

Washington's unilateral anti-Iran campaign has nothing to do with international law and fair trade, and thus the threat of potential sanctions won't affect Beijing's sovereign right to freely choose its business partners.

"China's commercial cooperation with Iran is open and transparent, reasonable, fair and lawful, not violating any United Nations Security Council resolutions," the Chinese foreign ministry said in a statement to Reuters. "China's lawful rights should be protected."

The ministry also reminded Washington that Beijing follows a consistent policy of opposing any "unilateral sanctions and long-armed jurisdiction" indiscriminately practiced by the US against members of the international community.

Beijing reaffirmed its stance on US sanctions at a sensitive time in Sino-American relations, full of trade disputes and China's repeated accusations that Trump is pursuing unfair protectionist policies. In recent months, the countries have slapped each other with reciprocal trade tariffs, with even more levies set to come into force later in August.

Comment: Trump's "art-of-the-deal" might work in some cases, but underlying that one needs some semblance of credibility. So far all they have demonstrated in Iran's eyes is that they can't be trusted. See also:

Russian embassy: 'US refuses to provide evidence to prove Russia's involvement in Skripal incident'

Washington has not provided any facts and evidence to prove Moscow's involvement in the Skripal incident, the Russian embassy in the United States said in a statement.

"On August 8, 2018, our Deputy Chief of Mission was informed in the State Department of new "draconian" sanctions against Russia for far-fetched accusations of using the "Novichok" nerve agent against a UK citizen S.Skripal and his daughter by the "Russian Government". We grew accustomed to not hearing any facts or evidence," the statement reads.

"The American side refused to answer our follow-up questions, claiming that the information is classified," the embassy added. "However, we were told that the US has enough intel to conclude that 'Russia is to blame'," the Russian diplomatic mission said.

The US Department of State said earlier in a statement that Washington was imposing new sanctions on Moscow over its alleged involvement in the poisoning of Sergei and Yulia Skripal in the British city of Salisbury. The first round of sanctions will take effect on August 22, while a second round may be introduced in 90 days in case Russia fails to meet certain conditions, the State Department said.

The IDF has conducted another series of air strikes against at least 20 alleged Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, after the militant group fired over 150 projectiles into southern Israel.

"IDF fighter jets targeted over 20 terror sites in military compounds and in a Hamas training camp. Among the sites targeted were a weapons manufacturing and storage facility, a complex used for the Hamas naval force and a military compound used for rocket-launching experiments," the IDF said Thursday morning.

A pregnant woman and her toddler were among three people killed by Israeli fire, the Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed. The victims - identified as Enas Khammash, 23, and her 18-month-old daughter Bayan - were killed in the Jafarawi area of central Gaza, according to AFP.

Comment: A spokesman for the Gaza health authority said earlier that a Palestinian died in Gaza on Wednesday after Israel shelled the exclave allegedly in retaliation to rockets fired into its territory.
"A 30-year-old Palestinian man died in a shelling near the city of Beit Lakhia. Six people have been injured so far as a result of Israeli aggression," Ashraf Qidra told Sputnik.
Update: Meanwhile, a senior Israeli army official told Israeli daily Haaretz on Thursday that Tel Aviv is approaching a new war on Gaza.
"We don't see the end of the escalation. We are closing in on operation in Gaza," he said.

Another Israeli official warned Hamas against further escalation in the region.

"The way things continue to play out is significant. Hamas will understand in the coming hours, as in the past months, that this is not the direction it wants to chose," he was quoted as saying on the army['s Twitter account.

British law enforcement bodies have detained the journalist Graham Phillips at the Georgian Embassy in London, reported the ambassador of Georgia in Great Britain Tamar Beruchashvili to journalists.

According to her, during an exhibition devoted to the 10th anniversary of the events of August, 2008, Phillips shouted out anti-Georgian and anti-NATO slogans.

"The diplomatic police which was called to the scene worked quickly and detained Graham Phillips," added Beruchashvili.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia also reported about the detention of the journalist, without having given his name.

"He without the permission disrupted the exhibition, loudly shouted slogans against NATO and accused Georgia of providing incorrect information for the British audience," noted the department.

Several clips of the incident are below:

Comment: Some samples of Mr. Phillips' excellent work. He is a fearless war reporter, documenting real facts that expose the government spin.

All Russia all the time - thanks to the curious case of Bill Browder and the deceptive Magnitsky Act

Putin
"Deserve's got nuthin' to do with it."
- William Munny, Unforgiven
A couple of weeks ago I told you the first U.S. Civil War was here.

What I didn't tell you was the face of that Civil War is Bill Browder.

Browder was responsible for The Magnitsky Act. It handed our government insane sanctions powers on individuals and companies in the name of punishing rogue, evil regimes who torture innocents.

His story is the thing of spy novels. It reeks of power politics, market collusion and psychopathology.

And if only half of it is true, he and his associates deserve a fate worse than anything dreamed up by Dante and his Inferno.

Democratic Senator Mark Warner: The driving force behind move to further weaponize US tech giants and silence dissent

Warner Zuckerberg
In a corporatist system of government, wherein there is no meaningful separation between corporate power and state power, corporate censorship is state censorship. Because legalized bribery in the form of corporate lobbying and campaign donations has given wealthy Americans the ability to control the US government's policy and behavior while ordinary Americans have no effective influence whatsoever, the US unquestionably has a corporatist system of government. Large, influential corporations are inseparable from the state, so their use of censorship is inseparable from state censorship.

This is especially true of the vast megacorporations of Silicon Valley, whose extensive ties to US intelligence agencies are well-documented. Once you're assisting with the construction of the US military's drone program, receiving grants from the CIA and NSA for mass surveillance, or having your site's content regulated by NATO's propaganda arm, you don't get to pretend you're a private, independent corporation that is separate from government power. It is possible in the current system to have a normal business worth a few million dollars, but if you want to get to billions of dollars in wealth control in a system where money translates directly to political power, you need to work with existing power structures like the CIA and the Pentagon, or else they'll work with your competitors instead of you.

- From the Caitlin Johnstone post: In A Corporatist System Of Government, Corporate Censorship Is State Censorship
Let's be clear about something up front because it's extremely important. This narrative that three tech giants, Apple, Google and Facebook all decided independently and simultaneously to de-platform Alex Jones without any threats or pressure from U.S. politicians and other powerful forces behind the scenes is pure fantasy. This isn't private companies doing that private company thing, this is Silicon Valley oligarchs making a decision to appease politicians and the status quo system which made them billionaires in order to avoid regulation.

Globalists are waiting to enforce a counter-revolution

globalists
On meeting with the EU's Jean-Claude Juncker last month, Donald Trump tweeted: "Both the U.S. and the E.U. drop all Tariffs, Barriers and Subsidies! That would finally be Free Market and Fair Trade."

Did Larry Kudlow somehow get access to Trump's phone?

We know not. But, on hearing this, Steve Forbes, Stephen Moore and Arthur Laffer broke into the "Hallelujah" chorus of Handel's "Messiah."

"Amen," they thundered in The New York Times.

Trump should declare "total trade disarmament" to be national policy and make free trade his "legacy" to America. Such a proclamation, they wrote, would assure Trump the "moral high ground" in the global debate and transform him from "evil disrupter of international commerce to potential savior."

For free trade is always and ever a "win-win for trading partners."

To read the Times op-ed is to appreciate that what we are dealing with here is an ideology, a political religion, a creed, a cult.
