Putin's new migration and citizenship policies increase transparency and unification

President Vladimir Putin has approved fresh guidelines for Russia's migration and citizenship policy, entrusting the government with reforms expected to make procedures more transparent, unified, and digitalized.

A document outlining policies for the next five years has been rolled out by the Kremlin.

"[The] standing migration rules are not clear and unified enough. The level of digitalization in the fields of government services and state control of migration remains low," it reads.

These flaws make many migrants - those coming to work in particular - seek illegal ways of getting into the country, as well as working without proper permits. The planned reforms aim to change the situation.

Under the new rules, entrepreneurs seeking to hire foreign workers will be able to do so through a special state-supervised information system. The candidates will be provided by state employment agencies - an apparent attempt to eradicate the existing shady schemes in the distribution of foreign workers.

A residency permit will become the main document defining the status of immigrants in Russia. The existing 'temporary residency permits' will be effectively abolished, since they have proven to be ineffective - often simply leading to more bureaucracy.

Facing concerns over cognitive deterioration, the former VP casts himself as an 'Obidenbama Democrat'

Biden

Some of Joe Biden's critics say his constant gaffes on the campaign trail have gone beyond his usual antics and into the realms of senility. The former VP seemed determined to troll them (or prove them right).

If you want to believe Biden is not fit for the presidency due to a deteriorating mind, there is plenty of evidence to support the theory. At times he has acted quite bizarrely on the campaign trail, telling voters to elect other candidates if they don't like him as he is, and even insulting his critics - like when he jokingly called a woman questioning his poor Iowa performance "a lying dog-faced pony soldier." At other times he has seemingly failed to remember basic things, like the name of President Obama or the wording of the Declaration of Independence.

The awkward question of Biden's cognitive capacities has been carefully avoided by the mainstream media for months, but not by social media users. And if Biden wanted to convince people he was mentally fit during his latest rally speech in St. Louis on Saturday, he chose a strange way to do it. Touting one of his electoral strengths - his having served in the Obama administration - the former vice president described himself as an "Obidenbama Democrat."

Casting aspersions on Turkey partnering with Russia, US benefits if Idlib gets out of control

While Russia and Turkey have once again managed to figure out a mutual solution in the Idlib standoff, the US is casting doubt on the longevity of the newly-struck ceasefire, seeking to reinstate itself as a major player in Syria and at the same time boost relations with Ankara, political analysts say.

On 5 March, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan struck an agreement that envisages a ceasefire in Syria's Idlib province beginning 6 March.

However, US Special Representative for Syria Engagement James Jeffrey threw the rationale of the truce into doubt, claiming that Turkey is the only power that should draw a hard line in the conflict over Idlib. According to the ambassador, the US should throw its weight behind Turkey since the Turks "cannot back down" if the standoff reignites, "or they will have 3 million new refugees".

Comment: US still considering that 'handful of things'
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Thursday that the United States was still assessing Turkey's request for help in its operation in Syria's northwestern Idlib province.
"The Turkish government has asked us for a handful of things, we are evaluating all of those requests," Pompeo told reporters in a press briefing.
Pompeo also commented on Thursday's meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Erdogan, saying "our requirement is that they move back to the Sochi agreement back from 2018, that they too enter into a ceasefire in the region."

The secretary of state said the United States is attempting to determine the best way to reduce violence in Syria and stop the enormous humanitarian crisis that continues to take place.
"We had two of our senior leaders from the State Department on the ground there yesterday. I think it was... Ambassador [Kelly] Craft and Ambassador [James] Jeffrey were both there working to see how we can bring American and European resources to better mitigate this humanitarian crisis on the ground in Idlib and then the southern parts of Turkey."
On Wednesday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Ankara had asked Washington for help with ammunition amid Turkey's operation in Syria's Idlib. US ambassador to Turkey David Satterfield told reporters that the United States was considering providing Patriot air defence systems to Turkey.

Trump Administration reassigning 500 ICE agents to assist sanctuary city arrests

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is intensifying its operations in 10 sanctuary cities, deploying approximately 500 special agents to increase surveillance around the homes and workplaces of undocumented immigrants.

ICE has started its 24-hour-a-day surveillance operations as part of its enhanced arrest campaign. It has requested the transfer of hundreds of special highly-trained agents who typically work on long-term investigations involving human trafficking and dangerous criminals, the New York Times reported on March 5.

In the coming weeks, the additional officers have been instructed by officials to "flood the streets" and operate in unmarked cars to ramp up arrests in the sanctuary cities where local law enforcement agencies refuse to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement.

Allies? US Army bails on $1b. Iron Dome buy — Israel refused to provide key codes

The US Army said it was curbing its plans to adopt the Iron Dome missile defense system due to concerns about its compatibility with existing US technologies, scrapping its plans to buy two more batteries and explore long-term integration of the Israel-developed system.

A central problem was Israel's refusal to provide the US military with Iron Dome's source code, hampering the Americans' ability to integrate the system into their air defenses.

Gen. Mike Murray, head of Army Futures Command, said the service identified a number of problems — including cyber vulnerabilities and operational challenges — during efforts last year to integrate elements of Iron Dome with the US Army's Integrated Battle Command System.

Comment: Probably an inadvertent good call. Why pour more money into another Zionist boondoggle? The Iron Dome's actual performance has been called into question more than once.

Magnier: Putin helps Erdogan climb down from tree with ceasefire agreement

turkish soldiers coffins
President Vladimir Putin agreed to meet his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who came to Moscow seeking a ceasefire he could not announce unilaterally on the battlefield, where he has lost momentum. Thousands of Turkish soldiers were pushed onto the frontline against the Syrian army and its allies because the tens of thousands of jihadists deployed in Idlib and its rural surroundings were unable to defend Turkish interests in the northwest of Syria. President Erdogan came out of the six-hour negotiations at best a winner in some respects but with his wings clipped. President Putin skillfully showed the Turkish President the weakness of his case. Syria will remain united.

A well-informed source said that "Erdogan wanted a ceasefire in Idlib but could not announce it himself because it would have cost him dearly domestically. He lost the war when he failed to recover Saraqeb and recover the entire 70-kilometre-long highway linking Aleppo to Damascus, known as the M5. He wanted Putin to bring him down from the tree. The Russian President understood and saved his business partner from humiliation."

President Erdogan agreed on the Astana agreement as to the basis for a deal, recognising the role of Iran, who will soon organise a summit of the three presidents. Putin and Erdogan did not agree on all points, in particular on Turkey's desire to establish a buffer zone in the Syrian Kurdish province and to dislodge the Kurds from Ayn al-Arab.

Erdogan's argument about the refugees flocking to his country was easily dismantled. Putin understands that Turkey is organising the transfer to Greece of Afghans, Somalis, Iraqis and other refugees along with Syrians. The Turkish aim is to pressure the European community to honour its financial commitments.

Comment: It looks like the jihadists agree somewhat with this analysis:

Le Pen calls for complete change of EU migration policy, slams Erdogan and Soros

Marine Le Pen
Marine Le Pen
The head of the Rassemblement National, Marine Le Pen, demanded that France and Europe help Greece deal with the influx of refugees, and also accused Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of wanting to "Islamize Europe," Ouest-France reports.

"France and Europe should come to the aid of Greece and completely change their migration policy," the French newspaper quoted the politician in Marseille as saying at the last meeting in the framework of the election campaign at the municipal level.

A week after Ankara announced the free passage of migrants to Europe, Le Pen for a long time accused Turkey, which is "blackmailing" the EU, and criticized Erdogan's intentional and repeated desire to "Islamize Europe."

Al-Qaeda/HTS's statement in response to the Ankara-Moscow ceasefire agreement for Idlib

© Reuters TVA still image taken from a video shows Syrian army soldiers walking as they advance on the town of Kfar Nabl, Syria.
Turkey and Russia recently agreed on a ceasefire for the northwest region of Syria following a military campaign that saw extensive gains for Syrian government forces and allies, though some of those gains were reversed by the insurgents thanks to direct Turkish military support. However, the agreement between Turkey and Russia is a significant setback to Turkish president Erdogan's previous calls for a reversion to the previous lines agreed at Sochi in 2018. In effect, the main gains of the Syrian government and its allies have been solidified, most notably along the M5 highway. The new agreement is also more specific than the Sochi agreement in calling for the elimination of 'terrorist' groups as designated by the UN Security Council (UNSC). This would include Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, the main insurgent faction in Idlib and its environs.

Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham has issued its own statement on the new Turkey-Russia agreement, which I translate in full for this post. In sum:
  • The path of the armed resistance and jihad should continue, however high the cost. In mentioning the political and civil administration in the north the group is essentially defending the Salvation Government project it has backed against some criticisms that the focus on civil administration and governance detracted from necessary military preparations against the enemy.
  • The group rejects the idea Russia can be trusted as a guarantor of a long-term ceasefire, but rather it is simply working to enable its ally the Syrian government. It will not be long before a new betrayal against the revolution occurs.
  • The agreement effectively enables Russia to gain control of areas without a fight, at a time when the insurgent factions had regained the initiative.
  • The Turkish government is to be thanked for its stance in support of the revolution and the civilians. But completeness of the help should be in restoring the displaced people to their localities (i.e. the military efforts it had launched should have been continued).
Below is the full statement with translation

Comment: It should be pretty clear. HTS, aka al-Qaeda, an internationally recognized terrorist organization, are the ones fighting in Idlib. They are not part of the deal. They are legitimate targets for the Syrian, Russian and Iranian militaries. It's also telling that they thank Turkey for the support given to the "revolution", i.e. the jihad. Turkey has, is, and will continue supporting al-Qaeda in Syria, yet every time there is a new ceasefire, the U.S. and its allies are on Turkey's side. That should tell you a lot.

Biohazard

Did BBC and MI6 unintentionally reveal Skripal blood-tests didn't show novichok until Porton Down added it in?

skripals
In Operation MINCEMEAT, the brightest and the best of British secret intelligence available in London between January and March 1943, dressed up a corpse as a high-ranking British Army courier. He was dropped into the water off the Spanish coast, so that he would wash up for a German Army patrol to find, along with a briefcase of top-secret General Staff letters and plans. They were fakes made to fool Adolph Hitler and his military commanders about where the D-Day invasion would take place. Deceiving the enemy turned out to be a big success. The corpse belonged to a 34-year old Welshman, homeless and mentally ill, who had been taken to St. Pancras Hospital in London and treated for acute organo-phosphate poisoning. He died. He had committed suicide with rat poison.

In Operation MINCEPIE, what's left of British secret intelligence in March 2018 dressed up two Russians - Sergei and Yulia Skripal, 66 and 33 years old respectively (lead images) - knocked them out on a bench in the middle of Salisbury, and took them to Salisbury District Hospital where they were treated for acute organo-phosphate poisoning. But they didn't die so they have been locked up ever since. This, too, has proved to be a big success at deceiving the enemy.

No! Whoa! Cut! Roll that sentence back! This, too, was a big success at deceiving the British people. The difference between MINCEMEAT and MINCEPIE isn't between rat poison and the nerve agent the British call Novichok; nor between the corpse of the Welsh tramp and the live Russians who are now dead to the world. The telling difference is that the secret intelligence boys have given the game away the second time round. The biggest similarity is that Hitler and the British people didn't notice until it was too late.

Toxic Agriculture and the Gates Foundation

agriculture
The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation was launched in 2000 and has $46.8 billion in assets (December 2018). It is the largest charitable foundation in the world and distributes more aid for global health than any government. One of the foundation's stated goals is to globally enhance healthcare and reduce extreme poverty.

The Gates Foundation is a major funder of the CGIAR system (formerly the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research) - a global partnership whose stated aim is to strive for a food-secured future. Its research is aimed at reducing rural poverty, increasing food security, improving human health and nutrition and ensuring sustainable management of natural resources.

In 2016, the Gates Foundation was accused of dangerously and unaccountably distorting the direction of international development. The charges were laid out in a report by Global Justice Now: Gated Development - Is the Gates Foundation always a force for good? According to the report, the foundation's strategy is based on deepening the role of multinational companies in the Global South.
