SOTT Focus: How MI6 Infiltrated The IAEA to Help Israel Attack Iran

Leaked confidential files indicate the International Atomic Energy Agency was infiltrated by a veteran British spy who has claimed credit for sanctions on Iran. The documents lend weight to the Islamic Republic's accusation that the nuclear watchdog secretly colluded with its enemies.

A notorious British MI6 agent infiltrated the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on London's behalf, according to leaked documents reviewed by The Grayzone. The agent, Nicholas Langman, is a veteran intelligence operative who claims credit for helping engineer the West's economic war on Iran.

Langman's identity first surfaced in journalistic accounts of his role in deflecting accusations that British intelligence played a role in the death of Princess Diana. He was later accused by Greek authorities of overseeing the abduction and torture of Pakistani migrants in Athens.

In both cases, UK authorities issued censorship orders forbidding the press from publishing his name. But Greek media, which was under no such obligation, confirmed that Langman was one of the MI6 assets withdrawn from Britain's embassy in Athens.

Smoking ban on bar terraces and other public spaces in Spain edges closer

Smoking

The Spanish government has submitted a draft law to the EU for comments, which will toughen up the rules, aiming to prevent secondary exposure to tobacco smoke.

The national minister for health, Mónica García, defended her new anti-smoking law last week. The stricter rules, currently being prepared by the government, plan to increase smoke-free spaces.

The minister said that this was an example of "politics keeping up with society" and "meeting public demand".

The new law will ban smoking in work vehicles, in places of study, including outdoor areas, such as school playgrounds or university campuses.

In addition, sports facilities, public swimming pools, bus shelters and outdoor recreational spaces, such as restaurant terraces and open-air night clubs, will be included.

Comment: Although there is considerable evidence suggesting that smoking tobacco may have certain health benefits, public authorities are gradually tightening regulations that restrict its use. If smoking were truly as harmful as claimed, one might expect these authorities to promote it, given historical patterns of contradictory public health policies.

The alleged link between smoking and lung cancer is questionable because of inconsistencies in research findings. The main health risks may stem more from chemical additives in modern tobacco products than from tobacco itself.

Why governments can't balance their books - EVER!

Without a radical reform of the monetary system, deficit spending and accumulation of public debts will continue to accelerate regardless of who is in power. The problem is systemic.

The Debt

After weeks of polarizing debates, the US Senate just passed Donald Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" with opinions split almost evenly among those who want it to pass and those who believe that it will push the United States closer to its ultime bankruptcy. Elon Musk has been one of the most vocal opponents of the bill. Earlier this week, he posted the chart of US Federal Debt from 1900 through 2020 with the caption, "When are they going to flatten this curve?"

Well, I can offer a qualified answer to that question: NEVER. The qualification: unless you enact a radical reform of the monetary system. Under the prevailing monetary system, no government can give up escalating debts and deficit spending.

Is Trump ready for the next level of the war between Israel and Iran?

Trump Iranflag
© UnknownUS President Donald Trump • Flag of Iran
Iran has learnt so much more about its enemy and is looking at when and how a strike on Israel will take place.

What is Trump's next move in the Middle East? As the days become weeks since he sent bunker buster bombs to supposedly destroy three of Iran's main underground nuclear storage sites, there is now a rather odd vacuum of joined-up thinking which is descending on Washington. Trump is hoping that the Iranians will now make pledges to no longer enrich uranium while Israel is left frustrated, confused and certainly worried that a new wave of attacks is coming from Iran in the next few weeks.

In an earlier article, I predicted that Trump made the hasty move to hit the underground bunkers as he may have received intel from Mossad that the centrifuges had already been removed and so needed to at least save face, knowing that the peace talks no longer had the advantage tipped in Trump's direction. According to Colonel Douglas McGregor, this is precisely what happened. The Iraq War veteran and TV pundit recently claimed in a talk show with George Galloway that most of Iran's centrifuges are still intact and that the bombing Trump did was entirely ineffective. He also believes that Iran is preparing to hit Israel in the coming days or weeks while America's presence in the Middle East will be reduced to a few outposts at most while DC implodes on itself under the weight of its own corruption and incompetence.

Zuckerberg aims to develop personal superintelligence with new division led by high-profile technology executives.

Mark Zuckerberg announced a sweeping reorganization of Meta's artificial intelligence efforts on Monday, creating a new division called Meta Superintelligence Labs that signals the company's ambitious push toward developing advanced AI systems that could rival or exceed human capabilities.

In an internal memo obtained by multiple news outlets, Zuckerberg outlined his vision for the new unit, which would consolidate Meta's various AI initiatives under a single organizational structure. The memo reveals Zuckerberg's determination to position Meta at the forefront of the race to develop superintelligent AI systems. He wrote:
"As the pace of AI progress accelerates, developing superintelligence is coming into sight. I believe this will be the beginning of a new era for humanity, and I am fully committed to doing what it takes for Meta to lead the way."
The new division would be led by Alexandr Wang, former CEO of data-labeling startup Scale AI, who joined Meta as its first chief AI officer. Zuckerberg described Wang as "the most impressive founder of his generation" in the memo. Former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman would head Meta's work on AI products and applied research.

Meta Superintelligence Labs brings together all of the company's foundation model teams, including those working on the open-source Llama software, and product teams and Fundamental Artificial Intelligence Research (FAIR) projects. The restructuring represents Meta's most significant organizational shift toward AI development since the company began heavily investing in the technology.

US lifts Russia sanctions that blocked key NPP construction in EU state

Washington has issued a general license allowing Russia's Gazprombank to resume transactions related to Hungary's Paks-2 power plant project.

The US has lifted sanctions that barred financial transactions via Russia's Gazprombank related to Hungary's Paks-2 nuclear power plant. A general license issued by the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on Friday grants Gazprombank and a host of other Russian banks permission to conduct transactions "related to civil nuclear energy."

Paks-2, launched in 2014 under a bilateral agreement, involves two reactors constructed by Russia's Rosatom and includes a €10 billion ($11.7 billion) Russian loan to cover most of the estimated €12.5 billion cost. The project, deemed critical to Hungary's energy security, was scheduled to start last year near the existing Paks NPP, the country's only nuclear power station, which supplies about half of the nation's electricity. However, US sanctions on Gazprombank - through which the project was financed - forced construction to pause. Budapest repeatedly appealed to Washington for a waiver.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto confirmed on Sunday that the US has now lifted the restrictions.

Israel has agreed to conditions for 60-day Gaza ceasefire, Trump says

Israel has agreed to the "necessary conditions" to finalise a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, US President Donald Trump has said.

During the proposed deal, "we will work with all parties to end the War", Trump said in a post on Truth Social, without detailing what the conditions are. Trump wrote:
"The Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked very hard to help bring Peace, will deliver this final proposal. I hope... that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE."
Israel launched a military campaign in Gaza after Hamas's 7 October, 2023 attack on Israel, in which around 1,200 people were killed. At least 56,647 have been killed in Gaza since then, according to the territory's Hamas-run health ministry.

It was not immediately clear whether Hamas would accept the conditions of the ceasefire.

Trump's announcement comes before a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu scheduled for next week, in which the US president has said he would be "very firm".

The US president said on Tuesday that he believed Netanyahu wanted to end hostilities in Gaza. "He wants to. I can tell you he wants to. I think we'll have a deal next week," Trump added.

Comment: A deal? Once Israel has what it wants, all bets are off.

Best of the Web: Macron regime bans smoking in most public places in France 'to protect young people'

Comment: Funny how quickly they went from sacrificing the young on the altar of 'protecting the elderly from Covid' to suddenly caring about young people's health again...

smoking ban france beaches
The iconic image of a smoking Parisian is becoming a thing of the past as France has banned smoking in most public areas.

France's new law dictates that tobacco must disappear where there are children, and parents, as well as the majority of the country, agree.

Comment: The above is obviously a mistake on the part of the journalist who wrote it, but if what he was trying to say was that a majority of the country agrees with this draconian measure, he's making sh*t up. Not a single Western country has ever held a referendum on smoking - their regimes just ban it by decree!

Those who choose to smoke in public in areas like the beach or the park could face a fine. The ban also applies to bus shelters, areas near libraries, swimming pools and schools.

Violators could face a fine of 135 euros ($160) up to a maximum of 700 euros ($826), according to French news agency AFP. However, the health ministry is expecting an initial grace period as the new rules go into effect this week.

For decades, lighting up a cigarette was less a vice than a vibe — part of the cultural mise-en-scène. More than 200 people in France die each day of tobacco-related illness, Health Minister Catherine Vautrin said in a statement Saturday. That adds up to 75,000 people dying from smoking each year, and the French government wanted the chapter to fade to black.

Comment: Like Our Dear Leaders care about there being less people around!

The ban aims "to promote what we call denormalization. In people's minds, smoking is normal," Philippe Bergerot, president of the French League Against Cancer, told the Associated Press. "We aren't banning smoking; we are banning smoking in certain places where it could potentially affect people's health and ... young people."

Comment: Protect the young, sure...

Comment: If this is health-related, then the health issue is this: smoking is a potent defense against the mass media lies pushed on the population by the psychopaths in power. By banning smoking, they're trying to psychologically disarm you.

An apparent leaked minutes document suggests that a trade association held a meeting in April to undo the confirmation of Kennedy by the duly elected US Senate. It is embedded below.

On the eve before the US Senate reconvenes, a detailed secret trade-association memo plotting the removal of US Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. has leaked. It reads like a coup attempt against regulatory reform — and they are spending millions to make sure Kennedy is out of office by September.

It seems that the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), whose membership includes Pfizer, Merck, Novavax, Vaxcyte, and hundreds of biotech firms that profit from regulatory insulation, has a mole. This article critiques the documented lobbying behavior of the trade group BIO, not the internal operations or clinical data of its member corporations.

Is Berlin planning a strike on Moscow? Merz wrote the justification - just ask Iran

Merz
© Maja Hitij/Getty ImagesGerman Chancellor Friedrich Merz
Kant is spinning in his grave, while Friedrich Merz is devising maxims from hell.

Forget the fog of war. Even in war, and sometimes especially in war, some things are exceedingly clear. Regarding the so-called 'Hamas-Israel War', for instance, it is obvious that in reality it is not a war at all but a genocide, namely the Gaza Genocide, carried out by Israel against the Palestinians whose unbroken resistance will be the stuff of legends, and of history too.

Likewise, in the case of Israel's current assault on Iran - really, of course, a combined US-Israeli attack from the get-go - there is no room for doubt that it is criminal and a "blatant act of aggression," as multiple experts in international law agree. That's because in essence, Israel is not acting with a UN mandate - which it would not have received - or in self-defense.

The legal basis for this compelling assessment is not complex and there is no room for good-faith debate: Israel's attack violates Article 2 (4) of the foundational UN Charter, which is recognized universally as jus cogens, that is, a binding norm: no pick and choose.

The few generally accepted, narrowly defined potential exceptions to this article's comprehensive prohibition on the use of force, such as an erroneous incursion, certain operations at sea, or a rescue of nationals, clearly do not apply. The Israeli onslaught also does not have the blessing of the UN Security Council, and it cannot possibly count as lawful self-defense under Article 51.
