Best of the Web: Soros' network of woke DA's bankrolled in cities across the US: How billionaire Dem megadonor gave Kim Foxx $2M, Philly's DA $1.7M

Billionaire Democrat donor George Soros has bankrolled District Attorneys in America's most crime ravaged cities, where criminals are being allowed to walk out of jail on low cash bonds or aren't even being charged.

Soros, the most prolific Democratic donor, is most known for giving to Presidents Clinton and Obama but he has also been pumping money into a far-left effort to overhaul the criminal justice system by giving millions to a network of woke prosecutors in Democratic races.

Among them is Kim Foxx, the State's Attorney for Cook County, Chicago, where murder is at its highest in nearly 30 years. In 2020, Soros donated $2million to a PAC that backed Foxx in her re-election campaign. She won the race and has since offered deferred prosecutions and softball deals to criminals.

In 2021, there were more murders in Chicago than in any other year since 1994. Soros bolstered her re-election campaign by donating to the Illinois Justice and Public Safety PAC.

Violence as French far-right TV pundit holds campaign rally

Eric Zemmour has joined the race for the country's presidency on an anti-immigration and anti-Islam stance.

Anti-racism activists were beaten up on Sunday as far-right former French TV pundit Eric Zemmour held his first presidential campaign rally near Paris, a few days after he formally declared his candidacy in a video highlighting his anti-migrant and anti-Islam views.

Mr. Zemmour has drawn comparisons in France to former US president Donald Trump because of his populism and ambitions of making the jump from the small screen to national leadership in France's presidential election in April.

The 63-year-old, who has multiple hate-speech convictions, unveiled his campaign's slogan, "Impossible is not French", a quote attributed to Napoleon. Mr. Zemmour said:
"What's at stake is huge. If I win that election, it won't be one more (political) changeover, but the beginning of the reconquest of the most beautiful country in the world."

R. Stan Baker, Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia, put the brakes on Executive overreach by the Biden administration
A federal judge in Georgia issued a nationwide injunction that prevents the U.S. government from enforcing a COVID-19 vaccine mandate on federal contractors, temporarily shutting down the last remaining vaccine requirement by the Biden administration.

U.S. District Judge Stan Baker in Savannah, Georgia, said Congress did not clearly authorize the president to use procurement to impose a vaccine requirement on contractors that will have "vast economic and political significance."

The lawsuit was filed by the states of Georgia, Alabama, Indiana, Kansas, South Carolina, Utah and West Virginia as well as a trade group for contractors.

Psaki declines 'basic transparency' about Hunter Biden Chinese divestment

Jen Psaki
© Chris Kleponis – CNP / MEGAWhite House Press Secretary Jen Psaki declined to commit to “basic transparency” about President Biden’s son Hunter divesting from a Chinese fund.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki on Monday refused to commit to "basic transparency" about Hunter Biden's alleged divestment from an investment fund controlled by Chinese state-owned entities or confirm that the first son's infamous lost laptop is authentic when pressed by The Post.

Hunter Biden's attorney said last month — less than a week after President Biden's virtual summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping — that his client had finally divested his 10 percent stake in the firm, called BHR Partners, but offered no further details on the identity of the buyer or the transaction terms.

The Post asked Psaki at Monday's White House briefing if she would "commit to basic transparency about that transaction, including the name of the buyer, the dollar amount and the timing."

"The president's son is not an employee of the federal government," Psaki shot back. "So I'd point you to his representatives."

Best of the Web: 'Mentally fragile' State Department officials broke down over disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal

As has been extensively chronicled on Revolver, the American regime is a crumbling edifice. Every day, it becomes less able to win wars, maintain a border, or even keep the lights on. Every day, it drifts further away from anything resembling a real meritocracy. The result? A politically-sifted ruling class that is not only incapable of finding objective truth, but incapable of tolerating truth when it finds it.

But on the bright side, as the regime decays, it at least looks very funny while doing so. The dystopia playing out before our eyes is a tragedy, but it's a tragedy in clown's makeup — often literally so. Men in dresses are trotted out as trailblazing "female" admirals. Barely-literate Congresswomen babble incoherently about why the police should be defunded as they enjoy taxpayer-funded security. Fifteen FBI agents are sent to investigate a garage door pull to see if it might be a noose. To modify the old proverb: Those whom the gods would destroy, they first will make ridiculous.

And no part of the Globalist American Empire is more ridiculous than the State Department.

Corrupting science: Shunning forensic expertise, the OPCW has left Douma murders in Syria unsolved

In its probe of an alleged chemical attack in Syria, the OPCW shunned the critical investigative area of forensic pathology and censored a recommendation to pursue it. The Douma killings remain unsolved.

(This is part two of a Grayzone series. Read part one here.)

In its probe of an alleged chemical attack in the Syrian city of Douma, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) shunned the critical investigative area of forensic pathology, leaks obtained by The Grayzone reveal.

Forensic pathology - the study of the cause and manner of death - could have helped solve the mystery surrounding dozens of civilians who died in Douma. Instead, senior OPCW officials thwarted any attempt to deploy the science and suppressed an internal recommendation that it be pursued.

Fauci grits teeth, says early reports 'encouraging' about mild omicron variant

fauci
© AP/Susan Walsh, FileDr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, speaks during the daily briefing at the White House in Washington, Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021.
U.S. health officials said Sunday that while the omicron variant of the coronavirus is rapidly spreading throughout the country, early indications suggest it may be less dangerous than delta, which continues to drive a surge of hospitalizations.

President Joe Biden's chief medical adviser, Dr. Anthony Fauci, told CNN's "State of the Union" that scientists need more information before drawing conclusions about omicron's severity.

Reports from South Africa, where it emerged and is becoming the dominant strain, suggest that hospitalization rates have not increased alarmingly.

"Thus far, it does not look like there's a great degree of severity to it," Fauci said. "But we have really got to be careful before we make any determinations that it is less severe or it really doesn't cause any severe illness, comparable to delta."

Comment: Poor Fauci, He'd dearly love to ramp up the fear about the new variant, but he can't without looking like a fool. Viruses gonna virus, and that means that new iterations of a group tend to attenuate in lethality, as they find a balance in their hosts. Epidemiology 101. However, that hasn't stopped tyrannical governments playing on their populations' ignorance about the facts.

"Don't undermine Russia," Finnish President warns West

Niinisto
© Sputnik / Ramil SitdikovFinnish President Sauli Niinisto.
Despite worsening relations between Moscow and the West, Russia's interests cannot be ignored, Finnish President Sauli Niinistö has said, explaining how his nation has built relations with its much larger neighbor.

"With the Russians, the most important thing is not to undermine relations and not to ignore them," the Finnish leader explained in an interview published by The Sunday Times over the weekend.

He gave the example of the former mayor of the Finnish city of Turku, who, he said, met with Vladimir Putin several times in the early 1990s (before Putin became President of Russia). According to Niinistö, Putin was so charmed by the respect shown to him by the mayor, he continues to invite him on trips to Moscow.

Comment: Those running the West are incapable of cooperating with Russia because to do so would ultimately mean acknowledging the arrival of an equal, or greater, world power, and the pathocratic establishment would rather set the world alight than accept the loss of its hegemony:

Best of the Web: German Chancellor Merkel finally steps down after 16 years: Gives farewell address at strange torch-lit military ceremony

merkel torches military

Outgoing Chancellor Angela Merkel called on Germans to stand up to hatred, at a military ceremony Thursday bidding her farewell after 16 years in office.

Merkel was honored with a traditional military musical performance and march in front of almost all the country's political elite — save for the far-right Alternative for Germany, who weren't invited.

Comment: They're not 'far-right', and they're the largest opposition party in Germany.

No plebs were allowed, by the way, 'because Corona'...

"Our democracy also lives from the fact that wherever hatred and violence are seen as a legitimate means of pursuing one's interests, our tolerance as democrats has to find its limit," said in a speech ahead of the ceremony.

Comment: And boy did she find it, introducing segregation between the 'vaxxed' and 'unvaxxed', and pushing mandatory mass vaccination, as her last acts in power.

The event, which was held at the Defense Ministry rather than in a more public setting due to pandemic constraints, involved a parade and a brass band playing three songs of Merkel's choice.

The first piece was "You Forgot the Color Film" released in 1974 by East German-born punk singer Nina Hagen. In it, the singer recounts a young woman's lament that her boyfriend failed to take color pictures of their beach holiday.

Comment: Yeah, new measures like fencing in public spaces to segregate people on the basis of arbitrary 'vaccine status', and cooking up ever more tyrannical ways to force EVERYONE to take an experimental gene 'therapy'...

Putin comments on mandatory Covid vaccinations

Putin
© Sputnik/Mikhail MetzelRussian President Vladimir Putin
Russian officials should try to convince people to sign up for vaccinations before they talk about forcing them to roll up their sleeves, President Vladimir Putin has said, as the country grapples with more Covid-19 deaths.

Speaking on Sunday at a virtual meeting with Francesco Rocca, the head of the Red Cross, Putin declared that immunizing the public is "the most important task" politicians now face during the pandemic. Commenting on the approach to get jabs in the arms across the world's largest country:
"We are trying to follow a path of persuasion rather than of compulsion. We are trying to combat biased views and prejudices against vaccination. It is important to persuade people so that they understand that inoculation is necessary."
According to the Russian leader, this method has seen positive results, especially recently.

Putin's comments come shortly after lawmakers from the ruling United Russia party received instructions on how to combat the most popular anti-vaxxer misconceptions, including myths that the pandemic is being used to control people.

Comment: Vaccination with a heart...is still a vaccination.
