Kissinger behind 3 million civilian deaths - The Intercept

Henry Kissinger, the foreign policy eminence grise who has advised half a dozen US presidents, has caused the deaths of over 3 million people, according to an Intercept report published Tuesday to mark the realpolitik strategist's 100th birthday.

While critics of the Nixon-era secretary of state and national security adviser often describe him as a war criminal for his pivotal role in numerous US-backed genocides and coups, the report argues Kissinger's body count has been widely underestimated, particularly regarding the secretive, highly illegal expansion of the Vietnam War into Cambodia in the 1970s.

Between the genocides he sponsored in East Timor and Bangladesh, continent-wide terrorism, coups and death squads in Latin America (known as Operation Condor), the fomenting of civil wars in Southern Africa, and the carpet-bombing of Cambodia and Laos under the guise of chasing the Vietnamese, Kissinger is believed to be responsible for over 3 million civilian deaths - more if one counts the casualties that have resulted from advice he gave the private sector.

Comment: The murderous thug deserves striped pajamas for his birthday, but exposing his grievous deeds will have to suffice since Washington is want to prosecute real criminals who're part of its megalomaniacal clique.

Trump's bizarre reaction to DeSantis' announcement sparks confusion online

Former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Wednesday to blast Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in a bizarre post that immediately sparked confusion.

"'Rob,' My Red Button is bigger, better, stronger, and is working (TRUTH!), yours does not! (per my conversation with Kim Jung Un, of North Korea, soon to become my friend!)," Trump said in the post.

The comment came after DeSantis formally announced his presidential campaign on the Twitter "Spaces" platform. However, the announcement was marred by a series of technical difficulties that caused the event to be delayed by at least 30 minutes.

Comment: More from RT:
Donald Trump has ridiculed Ron DeSantis after the Florida governor's live campaign launch for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination on Twitter Spaces was beset by multiple glitches on Wednesday.

"Wow! The DeSanctus TWITTER launch is a DISASTER! His whole campaign will be a disaster. WATCH!" the former president wrote on the Truth Social platform, adopting a shortened version of the "DeSanctimonious" nickname he has coined to describe his fellow GOP hopeful.

In a separate post, Trump praised Senator Tim Scott's campaign, which was officially announced on Monday. The former US leader did not miss the opportunity to compare Scott's launch with that of DeSantis, which he branded a "catastrophe."

The DeSantis campaign submitted a filing to the US Federal Election Commission confirming his run for president on Wednesday afternoon, and hours later he made the announcement on Twitter Spaces with CEO Elon Musk. However, the virtual event was marred by technical issues, meaning some users were unable to hear the speakers or access the live broadcast altogether.

The Florida governor was polling several percentage points ahead of Trump in the race for the Republican nomination as recently as February, according to a Yahoo/YouGov survey, although the former president has forged ahead in recent months.

Despite his indictment on criminal charges of falsifying business records in New York City in early April, Trump now enjoys the support of 53% of Republican voters compared to 26% for DeSantis, a CNN poll on Wednesday indicated.

All the other contenders for the GOP nomination are trailing far behind the pair.

Trump has repeatedly criticized his main rival, calling DeSantis "disloyal" and a "RINO (Republican in name only) globalist." The former president has also taken credit for DeSantis being elected as Florida governor in 2018.

DeSantis has refused to engage in a war of words with Trump, stressing he does not "spend my time trying to smear other Republicans." The Florida governor insisted that all his efforts were focused on defeating the Democrat incumbent, Joe Biden.

West waging 'undeclared war' on Russia and Belarus - Moscow

NATO is using the Ukraine crisis as an excuse to build up its forces in Eastern Europe and deploy weapons which are being aimed at Russia and Belarus, Moscow's Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu claimed on Thursday during a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Viktor Khrenin.

"Additional military contingents and military infrastructure are being deployed, combat training and reconnaissance activities are being activated near the borders of the Union State (of Russia and Belarus)," Shoigu said, adding that the US-led military bloc has already launched the next stage of its expansion, and is now modernizing military infrastructure in Eastern and Central Europe.

Shoigu also noted that Western governments are intentionally "doing everything possible in order to stretch out and escalate the conflict in Ukraine" by continuing to provide military aid to Kiev's armed forces.

"Today we are together resisting the collective West, which is waging an essentially undeclared war against our countries," he said, noting that NATO's military activity has acquired a "most aggressive direction."

The minister also pointed out that another worrying aspect for Moscow is the "increasingly aggressive rhetoric and joint 'nuclear missions' of NATO countries in Eastern Europe" which aim to test the use of nuclear weapon delivery vehicles and improve the US global missile defense system.

Nvidia CEO slams Biden, warns escalating chip war with China will lead to "enormous damage"

The CEO of Nvidia, the world's most valuable semiconductor company and which has been at the forefront of the AI revolution, warned that the US tech industry is at risk of "enormous damage" from the escalating battle over chips between Washington and Beijing.

Speaking to the Financial Times, Jensen Huang, who is preparing for NVDA's earnings call after the close today, said US export controls introduced by the Biden administration to slow Chinese semiconductor manufacturing had left the Silicon Valley group with "our hands tied behind our back" and unable to sell advanced chips in one of the company's biggest markets.

At the same time, he added, out of necessity Chinese companies have no choice but to start building their own chips to rival Nvidia's market-leading processors for gaming, graphics and artificial intelligence.
"If [China] can't buy from . . . the United States, they'll just build it themselves. So the US has to be careful. China is a very important market for the technology industry."
Biden's efforts to prevent China buying or developing advanced chips has become the most aggressive front in a new cold war between the two powers. Ironically, this comes at a time when the confused, senile president is talking about a "thaw" with China, something even the socialist New York Times was making fun of.

Comment: Biden lost his chips long ago. Unrepairable damage is his thing.

British warmongering is driving Europe towards catastrophe in Ukraine

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky made an unexpected trip to Britain last week on a whistle-stop tour of European capitals, pleading for more powerful and longer-range weapons to use in his war against Russia.

What was hard to ignore once again was the extent to which the UK is playing an outsize role in Ukraine.

Last year, shortly after the start of the war, the then-prime minister, Boris Johnson, hurried to Kyiv - presumably on Washington's instructions - apparently to warn Zelensky off fledgling peace talks with Moscow.

At around the same time, the Biden administration made clear it favoured an escalation in fighting, not an end to it, as an opportunity to "weaken" Russia, a geo-strategic rival along with China.

Since then, the UK has been at the forefront of European efforts to entrench the conflict, helping to lobby for the supply of weapons, training and military intelligence to Ukrainian forces.

Comment: Ukraine's future couldn't be bleaker...but have no doubts, the US and UK will find a way.

House votes to cancel Biden's $400B student loan handout

The House voted Wednesday to repeal President Biden's plan to forgo more than $400 billion in federally backed student loan debt.

Lawmakers approved a resolution disapproving of Biden's student loan forgiveness plan that was announced last year and is now stalled because of an ongoing legal challenge. The Supreme Court is expected to consider the legality of Biden's plan later this summer.

On Wednesday, lawmakers voted 218-203 in an attempt to speed up the process and end Biden's plan through legislation. Every Republican present voted to pass the resolution, along with just two Democrats.

During floor debate, Democrats argued that voting to end Biden's plan would hurt the roughly 13% of Americans who are likely to qualify for loan forgiveness.

Ukrainian intelligence says it's trying to kill Putin

Vadym Skibitsky

The Ukrainian intelligence service says it's attempting to kill Russian President Vladimir Putin. A high-ranking official admitted to actively plotting the Russian leader's assassination after a recent drone attack on the Kremlin.

"Putin is noticing that we are getting closer and closer to him," Vadym Skibitsky, the deputy head of Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate, told Welt in an interview. He added, Putin is number one on the kill list "because he coordinates and decides what happens."

The Ukrainian intelligence official claimed his agency had failed to kill Putin because he "stays holed up." Skibitsky suggested another attempt could be made soon as the Russian leader "is now beginning to stick his head out."

Ukrainian officials have admitted to previously attempting to kill Putin. Last year, Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda claimed, "There was an attempt to assassinate Putin...[It was an] Absolutely unsuccessful attempt, but it really happened... It was about [March 2022]."

Clown Prince Zelensky's Saudi and Japanese slime trail

Zelensky
The way forward for Japan, as well as Taiwan and Korea, is to emulate Saudi Arabia and to tiptoe away as gingerly as they can from their American lords and masters.

Fresh from defiling Western Europe, Clown Prince Zelensky's slug show next hit Saudi Arabia and Japan, two countries where protocol and presentation are paramount. Zelensky's insistence on showing up in both countries in his GI Joe regalia did whatever self-serving cause he was propounding immense and irreparable harm.

First off was Saudi Arabia where Syria's President Assad, and the world's other Arab leaders, showed how things are done in their neck of the woods, much as they are done in Japan. You dress the part, play by the rules and business gets done.

Indeed, when you fly into Tokyo's Narita Airport, you first see a huge sign: Welcome to Japan. Obey the Rules. One such rule is that, when in Rome, one does as the Romans or, in their case, the Japanese do. It is essential because, as any Japanese will tell you, the nail that sticks up gets hammered down. No square pegs in round holes there; in Japan, as in Saudi Arabia, it is strictly horses for courses and no GI Joe, unless you are into teenage cosplay.

More than 160 retired generals and admirals recently signed a letter calling on Congress to remove so-called diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs from the Department of Defense and remove funding for such programs from the 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

"As our Nation faces looming threats from 'foreign' adversaries/enemies, our military is under assault from a culture war stemming from 'domestic' ideologically inspired political policies and practices. ... Our military must be laser focused on one mission — readiness, undiminished by the culture war engulfing our country," Flag Officers 4 America wrote in the letter addressed to Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Armed Services Subcommittee Chairman Mike Rogers, and Defense Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman Ken Calvert.

A Russian politician died of - as of yet - unknown causes after falling ill on a plane on Saturday, the latest in a string of mysterious deaths among Russian elites.

Russia's Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, Pyotr Kucherenko, 46, died while returning from a trip to Cuba on Saturday, according to the ministry.

"Kucherenko was feeling ill while on a plane with a Russian delegation that was returning from a business trip to Cuba. The plane landed in the city of Mineralnye Vody, where doctors tried to assist," the ministry said in a statement posted on its website, adding that the minister could not be saved.

Comment: It looks like the CIA has assassinated another member of the 'Russian elite', this time a government minister.
