Behind the Headlines: Fake News About Fake News: WaPo Blacklists SOTT.net as Kremlin Disinfo

In the wake of the Trumpocalypse, "fake news" has been in the news. First it was Facebook being blamed for Trump's win because of the pro-Trump fake news floating around social media in the lead-up to the election.

Then, an obscure left-wing activist college professor hastily compiled a list of "fake news" sites and posted it on her social media. The list was picked up by such fake news sites as CNN, WaPo, Boston Globe, NY Magazine, USA Today, Business Insider, and more, with recommendations for serious readers to avoid such tainted goods.

Now, the Washington Post has cited an obscure list of "Russian propaganda" websites to justify its claim that a "Russian propaganda effort" helped spread fake news during the election. Included on the list? SOTT.net, among numerous other great alternative news websites.

They must be panicking. The elite are having kittens... Almost every news source on the internet that actually tells the truth, or at least tries to get it CORRECT, is on this "fake news" list!

It is my firm wish that Mainstream News Media collapse in a corrupted heap! For so long now, the MSM has done nothing but LIE, or spout HALF TRUTHS.

This is an attempt to silence the people, and make only the "Ministry of Propaganda" the news source.

People of the world need to stand up against this very evil attempt to stifle truth in news reporting.

Yes, it does. In many ways it validates SOTT, for a very important reason. SOTT isn't a major hub of political information relay - it may seem like that to its readers, because we have the deeper connection, which is metaphysics. But most people who would read direct news media (I refuse to call it "alternative" - it's not my "alternative" - it's one of my sources, period, and since I don't read their non-sense, it's not "alternative" to anything) - most of that demographic doesn't have the metaphysical connection. They will typically be looking at other sites which do not touch the metaphysical.

I think this is decent validation of the C's material as well. In any case, it's certainly a sign of panic from the Lizard shack.

Merrimack College Assistant Professor Melissa Zimdars, is quite uniformed since under the NDAA of 2013 Broadcasters declared the American People State Enemies worthy of legally employing "Fake News,: or aka Propagada. Something once illegal and deemed worthy of use on the enemies of the people of the United States.

She is in a word an "Imbecile."

I agree, but on a similar note, it's impressive that SOTT got on WaPo's maggoty little list - no offense to maggots (the lifeform). All I can say is: What a bunch of pathetic people. Before this, I loved this site and everything Laura Knight-Jadcyzk has ever written. Now, I'm really committed.

I've done business up in that hole they call a capital. Not a pleasant place to say the least.

This is just more distraction, divisiveness and drama. Maybe the election results can be changed! (Makes no difference who the puppet is, people.) Where should I externalize my authority to? (Nobody, never. Critical thinking is always required.) You're being herded by some agenda, no matter where you turn. Get used to that fact. Accept responsibility for what you believe. Be willing to change your belief system as you grow in the sophistication of what you understand. It's an endless process. There is no constant but change, and that is most true when it comes to your thoughts and beliefs. Accept that what you don't understand right now could fill a universe - and does - but that this fact doesn't absolve you from forming a perspective on life, and acting within the terms of that understanding as honestly and completely as you can. At the same time, with as much humility as you can muster, you must realize that you are inadequate to the task of doing so. You must acknowledge that you are guided, every moment of every day to the experiences you must have in order to develop your consciousness.

the bit on Samantha B.... not sure, but doesn't she still 'report' for The Daily Show on Comedy Central? Usually those interviews are joke interviews, the interesting question is why real people allow the interview by a self-proclaimed 'fake news' comedy channel? Unsure, but they do, which makes the 'interview' hilarious. Usually, they are making fun of the situation/person interviewed themselves... so, unless Samantha B is doing a bit for another channel, it's hard to take this 'interview' serious... even if she's working for a New York audience... which, like the Chicago Machine, is known for many decades of ballot manipulation, so God Forbid anyone ask for a recount in any major city in the USA. Stein's gambit seems just as fake... but a superego shouldn't be allowed to go to waste for anyone willing to play in the Beltway.

Oh dear...

we are really worried...not a lot! The mainstream news channels are 'shows', glitz and glamour and opinions, but rarely ever news. When I read articles on SOTT, they do not all come from the same source, whereas most news channels and articles in the mainstream credit the reports to either the PA or the AP? How vague is that? For me, that is just the start of the problem...I like to know who is reporting what and for what reason. I expect a bias in reporting, it's realistic. I know if I read a report from RT, there will be a Russian bias...but at least I know where the information is coming from. I can then cross reference and apply critical thinking, something which the mainstream obviously discourage. As rkestler writes above, news sites such as SOTT are not the alternative, they are my news sites of choice, my mainstream...the regular mainstream is just candyfloss...lots of volume and no substance.
