Put yourself in Penelope Soto's shoes. You're 18 years old and the cops nabbed you for drug possession. You're in a Florida courtroom (it's always Florida in these stories... except when it's Ohio) to face the charges.

How do you act?

Do you attempt to bully the judge, laughing at his words and defiantly running your fingers through your hair? Do you try to avoid answering any questions, even though you're under oath?

If you're Penelope Soto, that's exactly what you do.

Judge Jorge Rodriguez was having none of it yesterday. He dropped a load on Soto - in the form of a $5,000 fine. Then he kicked her sorry ass out of his courtroom, telling her "bye-bye." When she laughed at him and said "adios" in a tone he didn't like, he immediately called her back so he could double the fine: $10,000.

That wasn't the end of things, though.

Like any snotty teen, Soto had to get in the last word. And it was a word - a nonverbal word - she's probably going to regret.

Soto gave Judge Rodriguez the finger as she was walking away and, almost before she could drop her hand back to her side, she was whisked off to jail. The sentence? A full 30 days in the slammer for contempt of court.

Damn. You don't mess with Judge Rodriguez. Can someone give this guy his own TV show?
