In classic History Channel style, it's left up in the air.
We have remote viewers, psychics, and astral walkers who could all probably go look if they really wanted to. But who wants to be in the cross hairs for revealing government secrets?
I think they may have over-stated the hazards of having no gold. After all, you can't eat gold, or drink it, or build houses with it. This whole "economy" game is just a paper chase that tends to ignore the basics. People must produce more than they consume or they will die. Many of us have reserves. The value of those reserves will suffer if the dollar crashes. But it won't go to zero. But our other reserves are our education, our skills, our ability to produce, and our willingness to work. And you can't take those away from us so easily.
What bothers me is that the right to own and control property could be used by a minority to marginalize a sizable segment of the population. Willing hands might be prevented from growing food to feed themselves because they could not gain access to land.
So far, that has not been the strategy in America. But other countries have had to deal with this for decades. Force of arms trumps human rights every time. If we don't want that to happen in America, I think it's time to get inventive.
