Spectacular Meteor in Belem, Brazil. 19 March 2021. In the Brazilian state of Pará, local residents filmed a rare phenomenon: a meteorite probably lit up the night sky, leaving behind a bright trail and flash. To explain the reason for this phenomenon, scientists continue to investigate video recordings of the fireball.
The American Meteor Society (AMS) received 143 reports (event 1786-2021) about a meteor fireball seen over CT, DC, DE, IN, MA, MD, MI, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, Ontario, PA, Québec, TN, VA and WV on Sunday, March 21st 2021 around 04:25 UT.
The Caribbean island was previously hit by a meteorite in February 2019, with space rock fragments causing a sonic boom powerful enough to shatter windows in the city of Pinar del Rio in country's west.
Seismologists in Cuba have tentatively attributed mysterious lights illuminating the night sky above the Moa seismological station in the country's east to a meteorite.
At 10:06 pm, the station registered 'several luminous phenomena', with residents in multiple communities reporting spotting a red and white light followed by one or more explosions.
National Seismological Service Chief Enrique Arango Arias confirmed to CubaDebate that the agency believes the event was caused by a space rock.
Our cameras recorded this fireball over Spain on 17 March 2021, at about 6:07 local time (equivalent to 5:07universal time). The bolide was generated by a rock from an asteroid that hit the atmosphere at about 100,000 km / h.
The fireball began at an altitude of about 100 km over the province of Jaén (Andalusia), and ended at a height of around 52 km over the province of Ciudad Real (Castilla-La Mancha). This meteor was recorded in the framework of the SMART project, operated by the Southwestern Europe Meteor Network (SWEMN) from the meteor-observing stations located at Sevilla, La Hita (Toledo), Sierra Nevada, La Sagra (Granada), Calar Alto ( Almería), and Madrid (UCM, Jaime Izquierdo).
The event has been analyzed by the principal investigator of the SMART project: Dr. Jose M. Madiedo, from the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA-CSIC).6:07(Spanish peninsular local time) of March 17.
A bright meteor has lit up the sky in Sulawesi, Indonesia on 16 March 2021 at 9:20 PM. Videos from the event show a bright fireball streaking across Pagimana District, Banggai Regency, Central Sulawesi lighting the dark sky.
Residents of Gorontalo Province who saw the meteor said that they heard a loud boom sound when the meteor lights up the night sky. Some experts believe that the flying object was a bolide, a very bright meteor.

New simulations have identified the Karma family of asteroids in the main belt as a potential source of near-Earth asteroids.
When asteroids in the main belt of the solar system collide, the fragments come back together to form smaller rubble-pile bodies that orbit the Sun as a "family." Under the right conditions, some of those family members can end up in near-Earth space.
In a study published in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, researchers simulated the orbital evolution of asteroids in the Karma family, starting with the initial family-creating impact. The results suggest that over the family's lifetime, 350 members have transferred close to Earth's orbit — and around 10 might currently be in near-Earth space right now.
This bright meteor was recorded form Spain on 2021 March 15 at 1:51 local time (equivalent to 0:51 universal time). It overflew the Mediterranean Sea. The bolide was generated by a rock from a comet that hit the atmosphere at about 140,000 km/h. It began at an altitude of about 111 km over the Mediterranean Sea, and ended at a height of around 59 km, after traveling about 80 km in the Earth's atmosphere.
The event was recorded in the framework of the SMART project, operated by the Southwestern Europe Meteor Network (SWEMN), from the meteor-observing stations located at La Hita (Toledo), Calar Alto (Almería), Sierra Nevada (Granada), and Sevilla.
History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people.
