Hurricane Dorian is expected to bring a "life-threatening storm surge" up the US east coast after causing destruction and at least 20 deaths in the Bahamas.

Residents from Georgia all the way up to Virginia are warned to listen to emergency advice as the category three hurricane slowly moves north.

Police say parts of Charleston, South Carolina, have flooded and conditions are "beginning to deteriorate".

Dorian weakened after hitting the Bahamas but has now strengthened again.

It currently has maximum sustained winds of 115mph (185km/h).

On 1 September it hit the Bahamas with winds of up to 185mph (298km/h) - equalling the highest ever recorded at landfall. It battered the Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama, in the north of the archipelago, for two days.

Bahamas PM Hubert Minnis called the storm "one of the greatest national crises in our country's history". He expected the number of fatalities to increase.

2019 was much colder than 2018! You won't hear this in media. Christian of Ice Age Farmer equips you with cold, hard GDD data and intellectual ammunition in order to start conversations about how quickly conditions on our planet are changing. As the Solar Minimum forces temperatures to decline further, more and more of the planet will lose the ability to farm as we have been. A "probable tornado" tore through Waukegan at around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. The high winds damaged commercial buildings, tipped or rolled a vehicle upside-down and caused tree damage in Lyons Woods Forest Preserve, according to a preliminary NWS storm report.

The NWS said one person suffered minor injuries. The Waukegan Fire Department told ABC the person was hurt when high winds flipped a vehicle near Lewis Avenue and York House Road.

The NWS said its finding of a probable tornado was based on visual evidence, but a final determination on whether a twister touched down will be made Wednesday with the help of the city of Waukegan and Lake County Emergency Management Agency.

Tropical storm conditions lash Florida as Hurricane Dorian sets its sights on the Carolinas

Landfall in the Carolinas has become more likely, with storm surge flooding, high winds and heavy rains the key threats

Hurricane Dorian is lashing the east coast of Florida with tropical storm conditions, and is now forecast to come very close to making landfall in the Carolinas between late Wednesday and early Friday, spreading its arsenal of high winds, storm surge flooding and heavy rains to at least four more states.

As of Tuesday night, tropical storm conditions had reached Florida's Space Coast. Although Dorian is no longer the Category 5 powerhouse it was on Labor Day, it has grown in size, and it's capable of moving more water toward the shore than a smaller storm of similar intensity. As it moves parallel to the Florida coast, its expanding swath of tropical storm and hurricane force winds will push north, into coastal Georgia, while driving dangerously high surf toward the shoreline, resulting in coastal flooding and beach erosion.

Now a strong Category 2 storm, Dorian slammed into the northwestern Bahamas over the weekend with the historic full fury of its 185-mile-per-hour winds and 23-foot storm surge. Video and images emerging from the Bahamas show a toll of absolute devastation on Great Abaco and Grand Bahama Islands, two locations where the eye of the storm made landfall.

Sunday night was quite a show for Albertans, as a massive thunderstorm rolled through the area. The Alberta thunderstorm was so bad it was even reported that lightning was striking every few seconds. It even struck a house in Calgary, the residents of which managed to escape uninjured.

The intense storm moved through Calgary and nearby regions, lighting up the sky throughout the night. A severe thunderstorm warning was put in place for the area by Environment Canada throughout the night but was lifted around midnight as the storm started to pass through.

With the storm lasting most of the evening, residents were able to get some amazing footage of the lightning that was striking down. It was even reported by the Calgary Herald that during the peak of the storm, lightning was striking every few seconds, making the storm the ultimate light show.

Videos show the night skies lighting up with multiple lightning strikes every few seconds. While there seems to be an abundance of strikes, it is still unclear exactly how many strikes hit the ground across Alberta throughout the night.

One Twitter user even stated, "Nothing beats a late-season nocturnal light show in Alberta."
